All of these are things that will impact gun crime and save lives. Making it harder to purchase handguns, legally or otherwise is a GOOD thing. Revoking licenses from pieces of shit that commit domestic violence is a GOOD thing. decreasing long-gun mags and banning the sale/transfer of large-capacity is a GOOD thing.

That argument always pisses me off because technically the Uvalde shooter was a "legal gun owner"... The people who commit these crimes are 95% of the time either the legal gun owner or in a household with a legal gun owner. There's a reason that a few bad apples spoil the bunch when it comes to people not being able to "have nice things" (e.g. they gotta follow/obey the laws now) and if legal gun owners are doing these types of crimes then either those types of guns shouldn't be legal or those types of legal gun owners shouldn't have access in the first place.Trudeau's Gun Ban Sparks Panic Among U.S. Conservatives—'Dystopian Future'

Also the reframing of gun control as “responsible gun ownership” is pretty smart. I hope the media and usual social media contrarians don’t ruin this guy’s chances.
He's just a well-packaged centrist but he did a good job there.
I think this is part of the problem tbh. Who cares what he is as long as he steps up to the plate and does the right thing

Not to be the board softie, but when he started talking about identifying the child by her shoes, that's where the gravity of his speech hit me. That's when the waterworks turned on. I respect his ability to get through that speech as even as he did. He's obviously very motivated to help the families and stop another shooting. He's doing more than a lot of public figures, including elected officials in the state where the tragedy happened.
