"The premise is simple and elegant, when you buy your games for Xbox One, you can set any of them to be part of your shared library. Anyone who you deem to be family had access to these games regardless of where they are in the world. There was never any catch to that, they didn’t have to share the same billing address or physical address it could be anyone. When your family member accesses any of your games, they’re placed into a special demo mode. This demo mode in most cases would be the full game with a 15-45 minute timer and in some cases an hour. This allowed the person to play the game, get familiar with it then make a purchase if they wanted to. When the time limit was up they would automatically be prompted to the Marketplace so that they may order it if liked the game. We were toying around with a limit on the number of times members could access the shared game (as to discourage gamers from simply beating the game by doing multiple playthroughs). but we had not settled on an appropriate way of handling it."
So their one neat idea...really wasn't as neat as it sounded at all.

If that is true, that is terrible. Couldn't people just download a demo if they wanted to demo the damn game?

A lot of games don't put out a demo.

It's not exactly the same, but PlayStation Plus on PS3 has 1-hour trials. Downside: Not every game is available. Upside: Someone in your "family" doesn't have to own it first.

Obviously it's just a rumour, and doesn't matter anymore... But if that's true, it entirely makes sense why they weren't pushing that hard, or giving specifics. Because people would have shit on that.

This 180 is all bullshit anyway. They will keep it as it is until they sell 5 or 15 million consoles and then they will just do what they wanted to anyway.

Exactly, thats what i think is going to happen. Lure the public into buying the console then a year or so change it back to how they wanted it.

Microsoft corporate VP something or other says the report that they were timed demos were silly. and another employee said there was no time limit.

I didn't think that made sense since why would they limit it to one other person in your specific circle playing at a time if they were timed anyway? And now I go back to being sad about losing this feature so that poor people can trade in their discs for 6 dollars at Gamestop.

...

Also being afraid of them changing back is equally silly. There is a radical difference between selling a system where a set of rules you outlined are hated but known, and throwing a switch later that screws everyone over. First of all...they'd stop selling consoles full stop...why would they want to do that at any point? They can bring those ideas along but not without allowing the disc option. I believe they'll go back to cutting off discs as much as I believe Sony is just letting Microsoft take all the bullets before going to the same policies later like some have theorized. Which is to say...not at all.

Meanwhile PS+ has Battlefield 3 for free right now. I don't expect games that just came out to be free, but at least TRY to make it somewhat meaningful. Maybe something from THIS decade?

Smues: It's Defense Grid: the Awakening, a fucking tower defense game. Apparently it isn't bad, but it just seems like such a lackluster choice when they're throwing titles like AC II and Halo around.

This is actually more interesting. Borderlands 2 for $10 is a no-brainer. Plus, games I'm interested in like X-Com and MGS: Revengeance are on the upcoming sales list.

I'll wait for the sale on that too lol. They cycle around to Borderlands stuff often. Gearbox is kind like that.

It's out next month and will retail for $55 "at GameStop and Microsoft Store locations in addition to select regions worldwide".

Has anyone played Bulletstorm? It's weird to ask if a retail game is worth 5 dollars so I'll just frame it like...is it worth the time?

It's fun on PS3, I don't know if there is major changes on Xbox but 5 dollars is not too bad.

I might jump on Witcher for that. It's still going for $30 at most places.

So uh...Magic: the Gathering.

I'm like the only person playing that here, aren't I?
