Welp, here comes Microsoft. A digital download of Titanfall is now free with purchase of a new Xbox One. The bundle just launched on Amazon.

I'm playing Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare...and I kind of love it. I wasn't expecting to. It's kind of brilliant.

I was looking at it but I figured with a week to go until Titanfall it might not be worth the look.

The more I play it the farther down the rabbit hole I go. I need to keep leveling up these characters and play just one more round. The differences in strategy for each character is really well thought out and surprising. But yeah...once titanfall comes out the spell will be broken. Definitely remember it when it goes on sale in the future though. I'd sink a ton of time into it if titanfall wasn't hitting soon.

I was able to get it for $20 with a certificate and am enjoying it but I need some practice before I stop sucking.

Stupid question: how do I use my consumables I got in my packs?

Most of them are things you plant in the glowing pots or if your a zombie the glowing ground to put up stuff like health flowers or Gatling guns, or raise up different kind of zombies to help you attack.

The more you level up your characters the more fun it gets. Using the chomper to eat people from underground is better than anything I've ever done in a multiplayer shooter.

One on each side has a drone you fly around and shoot people or bomb them with stuff with the y button.

There's a surprising amount of variety to how you attack the game the more comfortable you get with each class. And...completing the character objectives to level up is addicting and makes even a game where your team is getting run over worthwhile.

Garden ops is hard as fuck though. I wouldn't bother with it until you start getting a character really leveled up because your weapons become faster and stronger as you get upgrades in packs (these are automatically applied). Hard or crazy difficulty in garden ops are fucking hard.

Any of you that are more tech savvy than I want to help me out? My volume on the games is about 300% louder than the TV. How can I adjust my settings so that it's always the same?

Turn up the tv 300%.

...whatever I've technically answered the question correctly. I have no idea why that is.

Just got the shipping notice for Titanfall which has left me a little conflicted since I'm sort of addicted to Plants vs. Zombies.

I have the same thing. And I broke and bought the south park game. For a time of year where games are down...im in a three way trap come release time.

mechs are cool and all...but can you burrow underground pop up and eat a zombie? Cause that is the best

That stallion guy is going to get to 1 million gamerscore tonight. I play a lot of games, enough to qualify as a mental illness...almost entirely on Microsoft systems...and have since launch of 360 and their gamerscore... And I'm still below 25% of that.

EDIT: He got there by popping the appropriately titled "I like a challenge" achievement in Titanfall to land at exactly 1 million.

I foolishly bought an Xbox One yesterday. The Tianfall bundle for $450 at Best Buy. I'm awful at shooters, but the game is growing on me

Dust: An Elysian Tail is the current free game on XBL. I regret not getting to this one sooner because I played about an hour and a half last night and I REALLY like it.

It's probably too early in the generation for one of these posts. But here goes.

I opted for a ps4, while I love it the games just are not there yet. Are there any exclusives for xbone atm worth buying of should I wait a year or so for the catelouge to fill out so there is more diversity before buying the machine.

E3 starts in a month; there'll be a bunch of new stuff announced that'll be on PS4 and Xbox One within the next year or two.

I'd say it's unlikely this early in its life, but if MS decides they want to do a price cut, or announce a new model (bigger hard drive, no Kinect, whatever), that sort of thing would likely happen at E3 too.

I haven't played any of them, but for exclusives: Tifanfall, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, Killer Instinct, Ryse, Peggle 2... I don't know how well some of those online communities are doing, and in some cases, that might make or break the game.

Oh. Alright. 8)

They're also dropping the Gold paywall on Xbox 360 and Xbox One for "most" apps (not all?), and expanding Games for Gold.

On paper, this looks like a panic move, but honestly this is the smartest thing they could have done at this point. The Kinect is just not a good piece of hardware and it isn't nearly as integral to the XBONE as MS initially wanted it to be. Hardly anybody is making games to use the thing and it seems like it's most useful feature is the voice commands (which seem to be hit or miss in terms of accuracy).

Bottom line, I'm much more inclined to buy a XBONE today that I was yesterday after this.

I use the voice commands every day. I legitimately hate that they changed everything back.

The Gold requirement for apps will be dropped in June, and you'll be able to request a refund on your membership until August.

Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends. Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests must be made by August 31, 2014 and require six to eight weeks for processing.

I downloaded Child of Light as I was craving a good rpg on the next gen, but I'm having a really hard time getting in to it. The characters and dialogue are awful and the combat isn't drawing me in.

For those with an X1, Powerstar Golf has a demo up. It gets you familiar with the game and lets you level up and unlock gear and boosts.

Yeah they've changed the game so you can buy the courses you want to. I bought the game at launch and now it won't let me launch it so I assume they have kinks to work out.

Also I picked up super time force and it's really fun. It can get frustrating but it's a clever game dynamic
