Even if you're iffy after ep 1...trust me when I say you'll want to keep going. Especially if it does go on sale in a few days as is expected. It's quite the journey.

Anyone ever actually gotten their console repaired before?

After 2 mysterious gaps in the shipping... I finally got tracking info that said my console is in Mexico waiting to come back to me. Explains why it takes so damn long.

Mine RROD'd within my first year. I'm pretty sure they sent me a replacement, and... well, the ethernet port got zapped, and probably a few other little things, but it still works.

I've had to send two different consoles for repairs due to the RROD. Both times I'm pretty sure they just sent me a new one.

A few weeks back I noticed the Youtube app now has a video window when you fast forward, which is awesome.

What's NOT awesome is I found some of my subscriptions now have a message stating "no videos found" or something along those lines. They clearly do exist (and I don't think it's because they opted out of them being unviewable outside of the youtube website since you can still search and find them), but at least the MikeAndTomPresent channel (home of Joe Gagne's Fun Time Arcade) started working again today. I watched the Hardcore Revolution episode.

I've had the youtube app crash numerous times over the past few days. Sometimes it's the random "this application will now close", which at least means everything else still works and you can just re-open it, but more often than not it just straight up froze after a video was done or during a search. The controller had no response so I just hit the power button on the DVD remote.

I hated the Bing app due to the super low limit on checking archived videos, but now that I've actually caught up on my Brad Jones videos (not counting Brad Tries or midnight movie reviews - just Snob, 80s Dan, and DVR-Hell) which were backlogged to last August, I kind of like it.

Not to send the conversation in a severe left turn, but just wanted to share this. Talked to a friend today who had gotten his 6 year old son a 360 for Christmas. He was all excited because the neighbor across the road had brought his son a brand new X-Box game yesterday afternoon, and the boy enjoyed it so much, having spent most of last evening in his room playing it. The game? Dante's Inferno. I'm not the moral majority by any means (and don't have any kids of my own), but I told him that in my opinion, it wasn't an appropriate game for a 6 year old and he should take a closer look at it. To which he then asked, "Why? From the box, it just looks like you play as a knight, fighting monsters. What's the big deal?" He had never heard of the game before. FATHER OF THE YEAR!

LMAO. Didn't he look at the parental rating or anything? I don't consider them the most accurate thing but they're at least a base system. And I'd pay attention to what my kid was playing at least at first until I had an idea of what the game was like if I wasn't familiar with it.

I've thought before that there should be a site that shows off some of the nastier bits of a game, so parents can actually know what they're saying "Oh, it's just a game" to. The ESRB site sort of does, but only in text. Dante's Inferno, for example, mentions "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Sexual Content" (which is also on the box he claims to have looked at), and has a description of some of the content, as well.

Yep. He was supposedly taking the game away from him tonight but I have a feeling after his kid begs him enough, he'll give it back.

I've thought parents should use common sense. I don't have a hard time figuring out what I'm cool with my kids playing or not. And if I'm on the edge about it I'll rent it myself and give it a play before deciding. The same thing with movies/tv.

That's like the time I was in in GameStop just browsing, and a guy came up to me and asked if I knew anything about video games (I dunno why he didn't ask someone working there, but thems the breaks) he wanted a game that was "like Grand Theft Auto but not" for his tween son. I pointed out one of the Medal of Honor games rated T saying you have the action and what not and get to drive military vehicles and what not and the violence isn't as intense. Plus he might learn a bit about history.

He picked up Hitman and asked about it, I told him, Well that's rated M, it's basically a rated R movie, just like GTA.

"But there's no hookers right? That you can have sex with?"

"Not to my knowledge no."

"Good enough."

He walks off and there was a person stocking shelves nearby.

"I feel your pain." She said.

Talked to my friend today. He said after we got off the phone yesterday, he called home and asked his son to put the game back in its case and "put it in Daddy's room". Surprisingly he said ok, and that was that.

I'm just saying it's absurd that nudity is so frowned upon, but an orgy of violence is allowed. It's backwards from every where else in the world.

Reminds me of the media outrage at the Mass Effect 1 side boob.
