Movie teasers, trailers and titillating talk!!

I'm on board because the director is a wild man and his movies are ridiculously violent. It's directed by Timo Tjahjanto who directed The Night Comes For Us which is the most relentless martial arts action film I've maybe ever seen. And, it's his American debut, so it will be interesting to see how he fares.
You should check out "The Shadow Strays", which is very much in the vein of "The Night Comes For Us" and from the same director.

Looks like they actually went with the idea behind book over the Arnold movie. Little surprised.

I do wonder if they are going to stick with the ending of the book, which is
the main character doing a 9/11.
Also, Michael Cera's really become an interesting/great actor IMO.

He's always had flashes. I thought he was good in a more menacing role in a movie called Magic Magic.

I get why people tired of him after the overexposure in the late 00's/early 10's, but I've always really enjoyed Michael Cera and I'm glad for this renaissance. His awkwardness and innocence holds Superbad together for me, and elevates it above a lot of the Apatow comedies of that era.

Running Man looks decent. Arnold version is nothing like the book, but is a hilarious time capsule. I'm not mad about a remake, but there's still just a smugness about Glen Powell that I can't get on board with. Maybe the movie changes him for me.

Naked Gun is getting great reviews and is at 85 on Metacritic which is an insanely high score for a comedy. I'm really enjoying the trailers and teasers. Looks to be in the same tone, although I don't think Liam Neeson will be anywhere near as funny as Leslie Nielsen. Even watching him in the trailers, he's funny as a gruff but goofy cop, but nowhere near Leslie.

Having Akiva Schaffer as the director is a great choice and Popstar was an awesome parody. Hot Rod is still one of the funniest stupid comedies of the 00's as well. Never seen The Watch or his Chip N Dale movie, but I really enjoy the former two movies. The guy seems perfect for Naked Gun and can nail silly comedy.

I hope it can be a breakout hit and lead to more comedies being in theaters.

Smashing Machine has the way better trailer for me. At least the second TIFF trailer that made the movie look really heavy. But, it might be because MMA is more engaging to me than Ping Pong. I tried my best not to tear up during the last parts of The Smashing Machine trailer whereas this felt like a typical trailer.

I'm excited to watch Marty Supreme though.

We watched Superman 2 this AM in honor of Terrance Stamp.

I forgot Non was a boxer before acting. He fought Foreman and Norton. (Also Ali's bro who either I forgot or didn't know boxed)

Also on the list? Pvt Terry Daniels, like 8 years before he broke into Wrasslin' His wiki and wrestlingdata do not have a birthday so I'm not sure how old Daniels would have been by the time he was in the WWF in 84.

I've always got weird vibes from their style of "authenticity". Same with Sean Baker tbh. This doesn't really surprise me. But honestly I've found their movies to be pretty overrated. I love movies with unlikable protagonists, but Uncut Gems and Good Time were both pretty grating and smug for me.

Giving that scumbag Kevin O'Leary a role in Marty Supreme also makes me really consider watching it. I really hate that guy and he doesn't need a platform.

Jesus.... Awakenings was at least partially fictionalized by the Dr/Author and De Niro's real life counterpart was an admitted serial rapist.

But...it may have been some drug induced fantasy.

I wasn't prepared for the doctor to say he calmed his nocturnal erections by placing it in "orange jello"
