TIL before they were an industrial metal band, Ministry actually started out as an 80s syth pop act.

Their album "Twitch" is an interesting transitional album in that it still has some synth pop, but also has a harder edged Electro-Industrial edge that would also be on "The Land of Rape and Honey" (which outside of four songs, isn't very guitar heavy. Also my favorite album from them)

I listened to With Sympathy twice today and kinda dug it? Apparently Al Jourgensen didn't acknowledge that period in the band like how Pantera refused to acknowledge their hair metal days. He only recently started playing songs from it in their sets.

I don't know why but I just assumed Ministey began with Psalm 69.

Perry Farrell threw a punch at Dave Navarro at a Jane's Addiction show over the weekend and now Navarro left the band.

Also, goddamn Perry Farrell is a senior citizen at 65 years old. Didn't realize he was late 20's/early 30's when they had their breakthrough.

And they’ve cancelled the rest of their tour.

I saw Jane's when they first reunited in '09. They played with NIN and were as tight as ever. I didn't care for seeing them on any of their subsequent tours and that album they released a decade or so ago was kind of wack. Sucks that their legacy has to end like this. They're actually one of my favorite bands.

The new LL Cool J album called The Force has been getting great word of mouth and reviews, so I checked out. Biggest surprise in a while. Like maybe the best hip hop album I've heard this year. Crushes the Eminem one and is much better than some of the other hip hop albums I've checked out this year. LL is maybe the best he's ever been and having Q-Tip as the producer is huge. The beats are all great. It's definitely his best since Mama Said Knock You Out and maybe his best period. Also, it has a great guest list of 90's legends (Snoop, Eminem I count since 99 was such a huge year for him and was his breakthrough, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip on as producer). I'm shocked. LL has a successful acting career and he still went so hard here.

Guy hit the stage at kareoke tonight and the host reluctantly allowed him to do "So What" by Metallica/Anti-Nowhere league. It was interesting that he changed one of the lines "I fucked this, I fucked that, I've even fucked a school girl's twat" became "I fucked this, I fucked that, I even fucked a school girl's nan". PROGRESS.

That's the song I use to demonstrate how much edgier 70s/80s punk was than whatever Chappel Roan is to the kids at work.

I guess them and their fans are embracing this early period in the band because they announced a whole ass tour around it.

I've been watching a bunch of MTV Unplugged episodes on Paramount Plus. Grunge bands really excelled with the format. The AIC, STP, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam episodes are all amazing. I also have watched Neil Young, Arrested Development, and Queensryche so far. All did great jobs.

They are missing The Cure episode which I saw a while back when that MTV Classics channel started. That's an incredible episode since they incorporated so many different sounds.

Is the KISS episode on there? No joke, that one was actually pretty solid as they brought in the classic lineup along with their (then) current one.

They have the Kiss episode. It's under Season 6.

Staind Unplugged is also there under Season 10 for anyone interested.

The Clapton one was my mom's favorite and I despise it.

I skipped that one. The Tori Amos and REM episodes are great.

I shut the Korn one off during the first song which was "Blind".

The Clapton one is interesting since he literally removes the best parts of every song and adds the shitty dead kid song.

This kinda thing feels like it justifes Paramount Plus and I feel so weird knowing I can if I want

They added some VH1 Storytellers episodes as well. I'm gonna examine that further after Unplugged.

A few of those i remember being quite good but my taste is probably not the same as it was. That said Tom Waits and Elvis Costello never let me down.
