Wait, don't you hate gimmick controllers?

I was told I could use the classic controller for nearly everything. Have I been lied to?
I'm not sure about the Classic Controller, but the Pro Controller is compatible with mostly everything. You still do have to interact with the Tablet Controller though on some level, though.

What are you looking to play on it?

Perhaps I called the controller by the wrong name.

Hyrule Warriors, Zelda, Super Mario 3D world, Mario Kart, Smash Brothers.....other stuff. I know you need it for Captain Toad's or whatever it's called, but I hear that game is really fun and integrates it pretty seamlessly.

But I've pretty much been promised no motion controls ever.

The controller is the best part. Probably 99% of the time I'm playing on it and watching TV. I wish it would reach farther.

You'll have to move your thumbs to hit the buttons, so don't get one if that's too much motion gimmickary for you.

But you can use the pro controller for most games right?

Yes. Oftentimes in those situations one player (perhaps your son) could use the gamepad and have access to some different abilities while player two, i.e. you would have a pro controller.

So I started playing Bravely Default again after my first attempt soured me, due to certain things in the later part of the game. This time I decided to just crank up the random battles to "hey, move and fight" levels to see if that might help the problems in late game. Though being overpowered so early is quite fun. I set my team up how I want, go into battle and kill things with ease

Still takes as damn long as my previous game though. So it isn't like I've gained time sadly.

Since the DKC series was de-listed on the original Wii Virtual Console, do they still give the discount on the Wii U VC versions for people who already have it?

Games like zelda getting delayed I get. I don't get how Mario Maker can take this long. It seems like something a group of modern could put together quickly.

Splatoon looks cool, then I see that you need to buy Amiibo to get the full experience, so I'll probably be dropping $100 just to play the game.

Japanese video for the new Mario Kart DLC being released 4/23. Baby Park from Double Dash is one of the new tracks. Baby Park on 200cc is gonna be insane.

So I'm still strongly considering getting a Wii U. But I don't really want to go get it if the new system comes out soon after AND if the new Zelda is delayed for the next system.
Should I buy one or wait it out?

Details aren't coming for the next system ("NX") until 2016, so it'll probably be at least 2017 until it comes out. I'm not sure that it's clear what that thing is—a console, handheld, a little of both, or something else.

I think $300 is kind of a silly price to pay for a Wii U at this point, but value is always a personal thing. (I didn't find the system worthwhile, and I paid half that almost 2 years ago.) Nintendo sells refurbished systems for more like $200-225.

I'm not sure how many major games will still be coming out. There's Mario Maker, Splatoon, Star Fox, Zelda, Yoshi's Wooly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X... ? I'm admittedly not following too closely, and almost completely ignore the eShop. Miyamoto is working on Project Guard, and Project Giant Robot, but I'm not sure those are going to be huge games.

E3 is in mid-June. Presumably there will be new games announced then, and possibly a price drop (though that's always possible).

I purchased some of the new Star Wars Pinball DLC tables, and was playing the Droids one last night. R2D2 and C3PO hang around the board making noises/comments, and 1 of R2's noises is the same sound I use on my phone for notifications, which meant I kept constantly glancing at my phone every couple of minutes when R2 decided to say something.

I'm having a lot of fun with it, but I'm hoping they had new modes and maps soon rather than later.

That's good. I was a little worried that there weren't many people playing it since I had a bit of trouble getting into a game this afternoon.
