Mrs. Edwin is fiending for the new Mario Kart. Speak to me, Wii U bros: is this thing worth getting outside of that?

I greatly enjoyed Mario 3D World, as well as Mario/Luigi U. A quick check of BestBuy.com lists Deluxe Wii U + Mario/Luigi U for $299.99, as well as Deluxe Wii U + Kart for $329.99.

I'm also enjoying NES Remix way too much but I don't know if that one appeals to women

There's the added bonus of a free game download if you get Mario Kart 8 (not sure how soon this offer is going to end). Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, Zelda: Wind Waker HD or Wii Party U.

Holy fuck.

Just...holy fuck.

That's awesome. THAT is how you do DLC. Release a full, complete game, and then take actual time to add new, time consuming content that people want that expands the game. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

I have a WII U, and have since launch day. While that is an amazing list of DLC, the one thing that's keeping me from investing is if my system dies, I lose everything. Nintendo really needs to fix this and incorporate a system like SEN and XBox Live.

$8 each or both for $12 per Kotaku. If that's right that's a lot less than I was expecting.

There's an upgraded 3ds coming out. In addition to a bunch of small changes its got a faster processor, so there will be games that can only be played on it and not the regular 3ds line. It's called the New 3ds.

That won't confuse people AT ALL.

Gods, the name. Seriously, if WiiU was bad, this is just worse.

I think two of those "small changes" need to be mentioned.

A second analog stick, something everyone said (including Nintendo) wouldn't happen. It'll function just like the C-Stick from the Gamecube for Smash. We've also got Xenoblade Chronicles getting ported to it, which now explains why they have Shulk joining the Smash roster. Two new buttons on the upper part of the machine as well.

The other thing is that the battery life will be improved as the system's back lighting will now adjust to your surroundings. More hours and less changing means more gaming on the go.

I now feel vindicated in holding off on buying a 3DS. Even after the XL I knew there had to be another upgrade coming. I've been conditioned never to buy any hardware until after it's a few years old.

I feel a bit pissed at ninty for this. I got the 3DS XL, now I feel as if if I want to keep playing games on the system I have to upgrade. It's not a new console it's a small update. I think they should honestly do an upgrade program where you can trade in your existing for a small price increase.

Lots of secret characters in the new Smash. Some new, some old. Get ready for them!

'Select Platinum Members' are getting emailed 4 codes to download the 3ds smash brothers demo today (general public can download it next week.) I've hit platinum each of the last 4 or 5 years but I'm not platinum yet this year and I suspect the use of the word 'select' members means I won't qualify. If anyone here gets codes and wants to share one with their uncle Smuesy I'd be eternally* grateful.

There's seriously no single player mode? I hadn't read much about it aside from roster reveals. That's balls.. I'll still get it too, but damn..

Well I'm sure there's something to get trophies but there's nothing like the Melee Adventure Mode or Brawl's Subspace Emissary. Apparently Masahiro Sakurai said the team worked really hard on all the cut-scenes in Brawl only to have them all leaked online, which made the experience 'less rewarding', so... that' the end of that.

Wait seriously? Well fuck. I don't play smash brothers multiplayer like ever. So ...fuck that dampens my spirits. Well I need to look more into this now, but the answer before Venkman crushed my hopes and dreams was both, and that my plan even before I saw club Nintendo has a free soundtrack disc offer if you buy both. (Im sure it's just a partial soundtrack though. I hope the full ones are ripped and leaked online like with Brawl, because that was amazing.)

For the record the story I read was from 2013...

And also stated the following:

Update: I think some people are misinterpreting this. This isn’t to say that there will be no single player mode whatsoever, just that it won’t be the sort of story mode we found in Brawl with Subspace Emissary. That’s also not to say story mode in that game was the greatest thing ever, and the new Smash will be terrible because of this decision. I just believe the rationale of cutscenes being ripped to YouTube is a horrible pretense to abandon the concept. In any case, I’m waiting to hear back from Nintendo for further clarification.

I feel like I read the story elsewhere before - this is from Forbes.com but I think I read it on Kotaku prior. Or Mashable.

Here's what Mashable is saying a few months ago:

Smash Run seems to be replacing Adventure Mode, though there is no word on if it will make the transition to the Wii U version or if another invention will take its place. Sakurai has already publicly axed the game's story mode after being upset that the cut scenes were being leaked on YouTube.

I had forgotten about the ability to play as a Mii. Anticipation for some epic Hitler vs. Ann Frank matches has me back to being really excited for both versions.

From what I can see about the new Smash, is that you can customize your character, right? Could that mean that everyone's character will be technically not function the same. Like you'll know who it is, the basis of what they can do, but the actual nitty gritty plays out differently?

If so, this would make for a fun time.

So, I'm not much of a beggar, but does anyone here with a 3DS have a spare code for the Smash Bros. demo? I'd really like to check it out, but I did not reach "platinum status" with the Club Nintendo points this year, even though I probably could have if I had just registered my damn games and taken the stupid quizzes. And that's really dorky, but still, I love free shit more than my pride. So help me out? And feel free to provide me with any other codes for free shit that you might have lying around. xoxo BUTT

Edit: I just read the rest of this page and saw that Smues asked for the same exact thing, to no apparent satisfaction. balls

Edit #2: If I had just looked on CAG a few days ago I probably could have got one but oh well.
