I think WWE was more willing to do an honest look at Savage since he's been not of this earth for a decade (jeez where does time go?) and been estranged from them for decades before that than Booker T, a guy who still semi-regularly appears on their programming. I'll still edit my post cause I don't want to live up to my Fake News reputation.

Cancel me, but I didn’t think it was that bad. I went to the article via the link and watched the video. The announcers were talking up the wrestler’s powerlifting and how strong he is, including holding a performance center record for deadlifting. He is 400 pounds and wearing a similar singlet to what Henry wore throughout his career. And finally, he is using Henry’s finisher. The comparisons are going to be there, obviously.

They should have worded the tweet differently, but it’s not like they picked a random wrestler with skin color being the only thing they had in common.

From memory, the tweet said, “WWE introduces us to their new Mark Henry,” then had a link to an article on their website. The tweet was dragged in the comments as racist.

I'm going to point out that WWE debuted their new 300+ pound competitor on their cruiserweight show but we all know they stopped caring years ago.

That was explained in the article as well. They had planned on using 205 Live to host NXT Breakout tournament qualifying matches. That lasted only one week but they had this match this week as well.

They've had non-cruiserweight matches on the show since the beginning of the year when they aired some Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic first round matches there, @Epic for the Summer . Now that Anthony Greene is gone though Idk how much longer I will be able to pay attention to fourth/fifth tier WWE programming.

Come to think of it, I remember Goldust working a few matches there probably trying to bring personality to the show.

Yeah and during their experimental house show run in 2018, the featured match was always a solid B show main event that had nothing to do with the cruiserweights (IIRC something featuring Bray Wyatt)

Well...you know!

(actually, he's probably referring to Michael PS Hayes since Punk probably barely interacted with Bruce in his WWE run but sad fact is he could be talking about any number of WWE road agents in the '00s and 2010s. And I bet the road agents now are just barely less racist!)

That is such a dumb tweet. If he said nothing this would be a non-story that would fade away within a day. Now, that gives it life.

I think everyone knows the lack of a black main eventer is an issue in AEW. But, I also recognize that on their current roster there isn't a great fit currently for that. The closest would probably be Hobbs, but I think he's still a year or so away from that type of push. That is why getting Keith Lee is something that is needed. He would be a guy you could legit push in the main event.
