I don't get to play games all the much anymore, but I had a spare couple of hours and busted out a copy of Alundra on the PS1. That game is badass.

I'm going to buy a PS3 in about two weeks and I was wondering what games you guys might recommend to me for the system. I play sports games primarily (with the exception of soccer games), but I like FPS as well. I figure I don't necessarily need the latest sports titles, since I can find some old ones like College Hoops 2k8 on eBay for cheap, but if you were buying a system what 2 games would you want to pick up when you purchased it?

FPS-wise, get Black Ops. They've worked out most of the bugs with their live-patches.. plus it would give me more people to play multiplayer with.

Regardless of multiplayer, though, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Borderlands. Get the GOTY edition. This is such a great FPS-RPG and it's very stylized and HUGE. Good times!

After a few rounds the only real gameplay tweak I've been affected by is that all jump pads have to be paid for now, which is a little annoying for me as an assassin. Couldn't be happier about the update otherwise. The Spunky Cola Arena is hilarious.

So is Monday Night Combat going to be Microsoft's Team Fortress, with a bunch of free DLC to keep people interested?

Pretty sad since they already have Team Fortress available to them, but their insistence on charging for updates means the PC gets all of them free & maybe they'll do a mega-patch to add in...y'know, everything.

I really like the Friend Recommendations in the new NFS; it goes through your friends' friends lists and shows you people who have the game and allows you to easily send a friend request.

The Hot Pursuit mode is a fucking blast to play online.

So how good is NFS: HP, PK? I've heard some decent blurbs on it but I wanted to hear a bit more from people who've been playing it. I've been thinking of picking this up or Forza 3 when I get a new 360..

I really like it. If you've played Burnout it will feel very similar since Criterion Games is behind it. It's just fun. I played Forza for a bit but I've realized that I'm not that into the simulation side of racing anymore; I just want to go fast and crash into stuff.

Has anyone else had weird things happen in-game with NCAA '11? I am finishing up my first season right now and it just showed all the award winners, and it showed the Heisman voting, with my guy winning comfortably...but then they showed the #2 guy as the winner, and I don't have the trophy in my shrine. When I go to the ESPN tab and go to "Heisman Winner", it shows my guy and says he won, but the other guy actually has the trophy.

And no, it wasn't Cam Newton, and they preemptively gave it to someone else to avoid controversy.

Weird shit.

Anybody play the new Castlevania? Haven't had access to my PS3 in two months and now that I'm back home, I'm interested in getting that, and Vanquish. Naturally, I also want Fallout, but maybe it's best to wait a year until the inevitable Game Of The Year edition comes out with all of the extras.

Heard that if you can forget its suppose to be a Castlevania game you'll enjoy it as a decent game, rather than being disappointed its not the Castlevania game you wanted it to be. Suppose to be frustratingly hard though - which some people enjoy.

I broke down and started up my WoW account again and got the Expansion on-line. Never again will I get an expansion online, after the download time, everytime I go into a new content realm (or even roll a new class on a race that's existed since forever) I have to wait 5 minutes to download that areas content. Why isn't that in the main download? I got into a new instance and got booted three times from the server because I was in download the whole damn time, if it wasn't a guild run I'm sure I'd have been kicked well before getting into the content.

I guess dubq already mentioned it in the horror thread, but there's a game called Amnesia: The Dark Descent on sale on Steam this weekend. It is ridiculous, the ominous mood it sets.

Seriously, give the demo a shot at least. It's not very demanding hardware-wise. But try to do better for audio than, say, laptop speakers, if you can.

For a free game, Doritos Crash Course on XBLA is quite good. It's something you'd probably pay $20 for the Wii and is probably better than the Wipeout game.

So I guess EA blew their big VGA announcement by briefly listing Mass Effect 3 available for pre-order on their store today. A lot of rumors point towards some sort of multiplayer; I really hope it's not integral to the story because this is the last game that needs multiplayer.

Multiplayer in the way of optional 3 person max online co-op while you play through the game is the most I would allow for.
