I went to Best Buy for the first time in quite a while today. I saw that they had a used game section so I decided to check it out. I saw that they had LA Noire for $35 and Duke Nukem Forever for $25. I didn't think much of it until I went over to the new games section and LA Noire was $30 and Duke Nukem was $20. I'm assuming they don't sell very many used games.

The only somehwhat bargain I've gotten from their used section so far has been Dragonball Z Boudakai 3 for $4.99. Gamestop sells it for $19.99. Seems most of what my local Best Buy has in the used section are 10,000 used copies of Dead Space 2 and Oblivion GOTY.

With the release of Arkham City and a general disinterest in any other games out there, I started giving thought to trading in all of my Wii stuff to Gamestop and getting an Xbox. Then I found out that for all my stuff, I would only get $120 in store credit. I'm not surprised, but I think only giving someone twenty bucks in store credit for a current gen video game console is kinda shitty. Even if it is just a Wii.

I agree. That's a little too low-balled for my taste. Im surprised people go for it. My uncle bought a PS2 backwards compatible PS3 off someone at his Pawn Shop several weeks ago for $10.

Bought a copy of Portal 2 on PC a month ago, tried over 20 times to enter the CD-Key with no luck, just kept saying invalid/wrong.

Tried last night... successful first try. I must have been tired the first time.

Games He Owns: WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011, LA Noire (played for three days, has sat in basement since May), NCAA 2012, Goldeneye: Reloaded*, WWE '12 (reserved)

Games He Refuses to Play: Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City**, Saints Row III, any army game (because they exploit the troops)

Games He Wants: Madden 2012

Every game he has bought he bought at Gamestop, and any time I've told him about sales or "Buy X, Get 1 Free" deals he has acted confused, ignored me, and said "I guess I'm not a gamer," so what I'm asking is, does my friend even deserve to own a video game console in the year 2011?

*Bolded because holy shit this is a below average game and he blindly dropped sixty bucks on it
**He was totally against this after I told him how good it was, but recently the man who cuts his hair gave it a good review, so he's kinda turned around on it

Thanks for the info on GoldenEye Reloaded. I only heard it was a HD rebuild of the Wii game from last year, which sounded ok.

Which sounds ok, because I don't remember what people thought of that one. The TV commercial I saw showed the damn jump in 16:9 and I wanted to play it right there.

It's a game you'll play through once, it will take you a week's time, and if you put yourself into the position of my dumb friend, you'll be paying $60 for that pleasure.

I gamefly'd it. It's alright...but it's going to sit and wait for me to play through Skyrim, Saints Row 3, Halo and by the time I'm done with those...Mass Effect 3.

I got 3 games delivered to me last night; 2 from Amazon and 1 from Best Buy. For the life of me, I couldn't remember what I got from Best Buy until I opened the package; I got the Gunstringer for $20. But the fact I had forgotten makes me think I need to slow down. But I have Zelda and KoF 13 next week.

Edit: I forgot I ordered Otomedius with a gift card from my birthday.

I'm trying to curb my spending this year too, waiting for some good Thanksgiving day sales online. I don't want to end up spending near full price for a game like SD vs. RAW '11, which I really disliked (if they don't want to put out a demo for '12, I'm passing).

EA announced awhile ago that people who bought Battlefield 3 for the PS3 would get a free copy of Battlefield 1943. They changed their minds, but didn't make an announcement until after the game came out, and even then it was just on Twitter where most people didn't see it, and were rightfully wondering where the fuck their free copy of Battlefield 1943 was. Stay classy EA.

Despite not going to the electronics section until about 7:55am, I managed to get a cool 42 inch Vizio 3D television at Walmart that went on sale at 8am on Black Friday. I went not expecting to get it but figured I'd take a shot as the thing had very good reviews and the price was right. I think there might have been other people who had been there longer, but I waited where the employee said to wait so I did what I was supposed to do. There were four people in that 'line' and 4 of the TVs so it worked out.

Had to get a new wall mount for it and I think the mount weighs more than the TV so it was a pain in the ass, but got it installed last night and quickly tested out the 3D before going to bed. Holy shit did it look better than I expected. Passive 3D is a lot better than I thought it could be at home. Lion King looked amazing. Coraline too. I tested with a pair of glasses I got from a theater and they worked perfectly too, making getting extra glasses a snap. I even tried out a pair of '2D' glasses I got just for fun and sure enough they worked too, turned a blurry 3D image into a sharp 2D image. I haven't tested them in a theater yet, but for those who hate 3D get a pair of those to use when friends drag you to a 3D movie.

I also wanted to get a 3D blu-ray player so the PS3 we have could stay in the living room, and BestBuy had the 160gb PS3 bundle with 2 games for $200, which was only about $80 more than the cheapest 3D blu-ray player they had, so I figured what the hell now we'll have two PS3s we don't use to play PS3 games!

Can't wait to get home and watch a full movie on that thing.

I have more than one friend, but I only talk about one on here, and the same guy who I bitched about buying GoldenEye Reloaded is just so insistent on remaining ignorant to buying games that he thinks he can go to Gamestop with LA Noire and barter with them and get fifty dollars for it.

Have you considering selling him to science? Maybe that way you can get $50.

PAYDAY: The Heist is pretty good. I've only really played the first level in any depth but it's fun enough to have played three times in a row. Does a nice job of what L4D2 wussed out on regarding scarcity, you start with 120 assault rifle bullets & 50-something pistol shots & it's up to you to scavenge whatever you can and rely on your teammates bringing ammo bags with them. Health involves relying on somebody to bring a medibag.

Thanks to a collaboration with THQ and Obsidian, Parker and Stone are writing the script, performing the dialogue, and overseeing the development of South Park: The Game. Unlike the cash-in Acclaim titles from over a decade ago, this ambitious project is a full-scale RPG for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. As the new kid in South Park, it'll be up to you to make friends and defend the town from a wide range of threats. Be sure to check out our January issue for all the details, as well as an interview with Parker and Stone themselves.

A South Park RPG intrigues me, however "PLAY AS someone close to ALL THE CHARACTERS YOU LOVE" games always wind up disappointing so....

Our local Play n Trade closed its doors this week. There was a note from the landlord on their door saying they hadn't paid rent in two months. Its a shame because it was the last store in the area that still sold old school games, and I hate that its small staff is being laid off right before the holidays. All we have left is 50 Gamestops and 2nd & Charles which sells a little old school items.

I was surprised (and pleased!) to see my local game store still open when I went that way a few weeks back. Not good signs that they didn't have much in the way of new games, and the only people in the store were the guy who runs it & a couple of his friends who use the store to play video games without having to buy them.

They had games from pretty much every major console & handheld available (including a Dreamcast that I probably should've bought) so that was refreshing; shame it'll all likely end up in the trash when the store inevitably closes.

I've been wondering what they planned to do with all the games they had. I hope they didn't end up in the trash, though they're most likely I and a storage unit somewhere. The last "big" things I remember someone trading them were OSG' s for several PSX era RPG's which were all priced $50+.
