So offended at a show about gun violence getting a joke about a "trigger" warning.

A surprisingly dark episode.

When Chuck Lorre was a writer on Roseanne Norm apparently turned to him at the table read and said "which one's Darlene?"

Norm left Roseanne after the 5th season so he would not have been in the room for "Who Jackie?"

Even before all this, I always really disliked her and found it kind of amazing someone as dreadful as her was so beloved for so long despite never bothering to mask it very hard. I loved the show, though. It's weird.

She was always the weak link to me and I loved the show. I'd groan through her jokes or one liners, and then laugh at John Goodman or Laurie Metcalf while they carry the show. Even Sara Gilbert's delivery was much funnier to me than Rosie's.

Sara Gilbert growing coincided with Roseanne getting that awful facelift, too. Once Darlene was able to develop she, Dan, and Jackie did the important parts. Like all my favorite moments involve one of those three in some form. Roseanne herself never really made me laugh, and I don't think I found her all that funny at all when you could tell she got creative control and suddenly was an abuse survivor and shit.

I've been wanting to do a series rewatch someday, but Roseanne really makes it tough. I agree that post facelift, she became the worst. She wasn't too bad the first 3 or so seasons, and there were times were she seemed relatable. Although, some of her one liners and delivery felt flat even as a kid.

I think she was technically a better actor post facelift (at least dramatic wise) but she was way less relatable and funny.

Of course season 9 is an epic disaster

It ended when Dan had the heart attack. The facelift is the beginning of the end. But at that point the rest of the cast was firing on all cylinders.

I'm a fan of the show but it was much more of an ensemble than anything else.

Honestly I didn't like how they made Jackie a blubbering mess towards the end of the original run. Yeah Metcalf could pull it off of course but they did Jackie wrong.

Sort of like Rebecca on Cheers

I remember a late period episode where Jackie gets addicted to the internet being very obnoxious. Felt like a completely different character from a few seasons earlier.

Also they turned her from a strong willed woman focused on her career to " OMG I need a man so bad!"

Once she had Andy they ran out of ideas. It's pretty bad they couldn't make her more than just the wacky neighbor. Single mom Jackie could've worked well and added life to the show.
