To be fair, those weren't rated R so it's not a completely apt comparison. To be unfair: HAHAHAHA FUCK YOU JOKER MOVIE.

I for one welcome our new ultra-violent clown overlord. Also, lol at "Joker 2", which may be the steepest drop for a comic movie of all time (I'm probably wrong, but Goddamn an 81% drop. There's box office bombs, and there's that.)

Next week is "Smile 2" and "Anora" in limited release. The week after is "Venom: The Last Dance".

Beetlejuice probably made more when the actuals come out. Remember, WB rounded up to 40 last weekend when the actuals the next day had it at 37.

The record for a second week drop is Gigli with a 82% drop. There's a chance Joker can still beat it when the actual gross comes out tomorrow.

Joker 2 fell behind a million on a Holiday and only made 930,000 on Monday. They also announced a Digital release for October 29, and it looks like it's not even going to cross 60 million at the domestic box office.

Coyote V. Acme probably would've made more than this, and that cost way less, and got good reactions from test scores.

Reminder that the first "Smile" movie was originally meant to be a Paramount+ exclusive. I think "We Live in a Time" made more money than expected, and I still enjoy seeing "Joker" tank.

Net week is "Venom: The Last Dance" and "Conclave"

I think that's the lowest debut for a "Venom" movie thus far. "Conclave" made more than I thought it would, "Anora" being in the top 10 despite only playing in 34 theaters is impressive, and "We Live in a Time" opening in more theaters/probably getting good word of mouth ain't bad.

Next week is...not much. The week after we get "Heretic", "Overlord: the Sacred Kingdom" (anime) and "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"

Pretty small week, though ouch for "Here". Also, two Bollywood movies in the top 10 and "Terrifier 3" still making cash. "The Wild Robot" is quite the hit.

Venom had a really good hold. It's not doing as good as the first two domestically, but there's still an audience for those stupid movies. Other than Here, most of the movies did pretty well this week with decent holds. Also, WB is not reporting Joker 2's numbers anymore lmao.

Coppolla and Zemeckis' comebacks didn't go quite as they planned. How's that new Eastwood movie gonna fare?

Warner Brothers completely fucked Clint's new movie. It was supposed to get a major release, but they gave it a limited release and plan on putting it on Max to rot. It is his best reviewed movie since Unforgiven, and has one of the best critic scores on RT of his career. I'm thinking it's going to have some awards buzz, but the small release might hurt it in the long run. Just total disrespect for one of the true legends of the classic era of film that is left. You'd think they would go all out to promote Clint's last movie.

Man, I can't wait until Zaslav is gone. He really hates movies and is sabotaging so many.

This has been a good year for animated movies doing really well. Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4, Kung Fu Panda 4, The Wild Robot, IF, even The Garfield Movie to an extent (latter 2 still inside the Top 20 domestic for now).

LOL at "Red One", while everything 2-7 still has some legs. Not a bad showing for "A Real Pain"

Next week is "Wicked" and "Gladiator II" (which made $87,000,000 overseas). The week after is "Moana 2"

Red One actually did more than I thought. It's the third highest opening weekend for an original movie this decade after Nope, and that Ryan Reynolds imaginary friend movie. That's really sad. Rock is still a box office draw, because if this had Gosling or Pine with Chris Evans it would do a 18 million opening weekend.

I wouldn't be surprised if The Rock's A24 movie The Smashing Machine ends up breaking Civil War's highest opening weekend for a A24 film, and opens to around 25 million.

I’d be pretty surprised. Seems like people are tired of Rocky, and I don’t think that movie isn’t going to have a wide appeal.

I honestly don’t think I’ve wanted to see one of his movies since The Rundown. Mainly because it was the first one out the gate for him.

It's been a slow burn as far as losing favor is concerned. First was him getting in a feud with Vin Disel. Granted, people took Rock's side at the time (it's not like Vin isn't an egomaniac either), but then came "Black Adam" bombing and reports of what he wanted from Warner Bros and DC. Then "Young Rock" (which was basically him testing the waters with "hey, want me to get into politics next?"), all the behind the scenes stuff about "Red One", and the fact he hasn't given an interesting performance since at least "Pain & Gain" or the better "Fast and the Furious" movies. He's more brand than actor at this point, and people are eventually going to be tired of that (the clock is still ticking, Ryan Reynolds...). Hell, him returning to wrestling even felt a little desperate.

Wicked looking like it's going to do what it was expected to do. Gladiator II did a solid opening but trying to replicate the Barbenheimer tactic didn't seem to pay off the same way (also forgotten was Barbie & Oppenheimer were dropped dead in the middle of summer with both movies getting heavy buzz for different reasons).

Barbie did $11K and Oppenheimer did $7K more per theater in their releases.
