I forgot who said it but "Vince wouldn't ask you to do anything he wouldn't do himself".

Lots of people have said it, at least going back to Vince doing the zipline to show Shawn he wouldn't die. Oddly the ultimate what if is if he tested that harness for Owen.

Kaientai is neat and all but all I can do is wonder what Boss Man’s reaction was to hearing the booking plans that night

Honestly Bossman and Kaientai as a midcard comedy stable sorta works.

I really wanted Bossman or Windham to join the APA for a while. I wanted the big scary guys to just team up, drink, and always pound ass.

Peak Punk couldn't touch 97 HBK in the ring.

Promo wise I would go with Punk over him.

You know for all of the talk about Bret not being a great talker, I feel like HBK has a similar lack of memorable promos IMO. Bret has a lower floor but a higher ceiling when comparing him with HBK, purely in terms of talking.

I'd have to agree. Most of 90s Shawn most memorable promos are him pilled up and rambling and early DX hijynx.

Bret wasn't the most engaging promo but it seemed he usually had a good line in the chamber to fire off before he'd hit his catchphrase.

---
Like one random 97 RAW where Shawn just rambles on about all his grievances and Vince doesn't have a wrap up line at the end and just screams "SHAAAAWN MICHEALS!!!!!" in what felt like an awkward manner after Shawn's word salad.

Also memorable was babyface champ Shawn getting a puff piece on him visiting special needs kids or a school or something and instead of putting the kids over he says "These kids love me, and I think that's pretty cool" or somesuch.

Hogan, Bret, Savage would have nailed that shit.

Comeback HBK was a fine promo but not particularly memorable, outside of maybe some stuff during the Jericho and Undertaker feuds.

I like him as a character more in the first run but as a worker more in the second run, if that makes sense.

See Shawn was awesome at promos but it isn't like he needed to have something super iconic. I vividly remember a bunch of Shawn promos but it isn't like he had the one that defined him or an era or something. Same for Bret, though.

That street fight, if it happened, must've been like four minutes of Foley and Owen trying to break each other.

Bret should've put Lawler over to fuck everything up.

It's a wonder why someone as awful and insane as Cabbie didn't get into the business. He had New Jack victim all over him.

Another October B show fundraiser in Pittsfield!

This really isn’t any better than the ‘93 card, besides the main event. I feel like a lot of these undercard match pairing were picked out of a hat. Salvatore Sincere Vs The Jackyl is probably @Valeyard ’s ‘97 WWF nightmare match pairing.

The New Blackjacks Vs Sniper & Recon at a B house show could probably be used as a homeopathic sedative.

Get that Gang Warz shit outta there and it's way better.

So much Truth Commission though. You don't spread those guys out. I kinda want to see more Sniper and Recon, honestly, because I know nothing of Recon and I'm a big Buchanan supporter.

Callis/Brandi is probably very solid. But the Jackyl is far and away my favorite version of Callis.

I used to love HHH so much that I hope Austin was where he could go.

Kurrgan/Vader is some dream match shit and I wish it happened

I am glad you agree with my morbid curiosity at the idea of a Vader-Kurrgan match. I always thought Vader was unsung in his role in getting Kane over as a monster and I wonder if he could have worked the same magic with Kurrgan.

Kurrgan is one of those guys who gets a kind of unfair bad rap. He never worked with anyone good and got turned into a miscast comedy character, of course he put out shit. He didn't get a real chance to show a lot. Still probably not good but still.

The obvious direction should have been a Kurgan/Taker feud but the timing was off for them. The Kane stuff (as the unseen threat with Taker/Bearer) was starting when Kurgan debuted.
Kurgan as Paul Bearer's 1st threat to take out before Kane would have worked. But Taker was needed in the headline spots with Bret/Shawn over the summer and Fall.
---
Odd to see Kurgan barely wrestled after his WWF debut in June 97. He doesn't have anything more than a handful of matches each month until the Fall of 98.

Kurgan apparently had been a worker since 91, but you'd still think the WWF would have had him doing house shows to learn.

He barely did anything. I thought on Shotgun or whatever it was where he locked Brian Lee in the claw and dragged him up the ramp by his skull, he would definitely be some kind of player. Be on TV more anyway.

He and Golga as the evil monster team really piqued my interest too. Let Tenta teach him how to big man.
