The two timelines things make sense because Wind Waker did seem to connect back to Ocarina of time. I think if that is the timeline it's pretty cool. But you have Skyward Sword after Twilight Princess. I think the wiki said it's a preque to Ocarina of Time.

I'm guessing it would be between the Minish Cap/Four Swords story and Ocarina then.

I'm just waiting for the technopunk version of Legend of Zelda. Link has an energy shield and he rides on a motorcycle insted of a horse through a city reminicent of Final Fantasy VII or something like that.

Finally started playing Spirit Tracks. Not a fan of the train world map (blowing the train whistle to fight enemies, really?) but I'm digging it so far. The spirit tower you have to revisit is a billion times better than that temple from Phantom Hour Glass, since you don't have to replay sections you've passed, and no time limit.

Skyward Sword gold bundle announced.

For $69.99 you get the game, that spiffy looking gold wiimote plus, and a cd ' featuring orchestral arrangements of select songs that will be performed at The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert.' Though it is mentioned that the CD will only be in the initial shipment, so you might have to act fast to get that.

Nothing there that most people really need, but I'm all over that gold wiimote so I'll be snagging this.

You Canadians just have to make everything difficult don't you? Will they offer a gold edition wikipedia book as well?

American Amazon.com has the actual game listed, but not the gold edition yet, so you aren't missing out on it. Yet.

I saw US Amazon has "Special Edition" with the CD, but as you said, no Gold. Yet.

I can't have a gold Wiimote Plus unless I have a gold Nunchuk to plug into it.

It's also being released in Europe according to Nintendo. Not sure how or when or how much though.

You folks will probably have to drop more than a few pounds to get your hands on it. I wish buying games in North America resulted in a loss of pounds, but it doesn't work out that way.

The free Four Swords game will be available on DSi in addition to 3DS. Free on both, and apparently will be cross-compatible between systems. Neat! My DSi felt empty after I transferred every thing to the 3DS, so it'll probably be happy to have something on it again.

Finally finished Spirit Tracks. Woof what a dog. I enjoyed it for a while, but man did it get tedious by the end. So much bullshit traveling back and forth to stretch it out. And while the spirit tower was fun at first, the last two sections of it were awful and incredibly annoying to play. And one part of the final boss battle was insanely annoying due to the inaccuracies of the style only control system. Not likely to ever play this Zelda again.

I'll say these words, and make you try to imagine it:
Virtual Boy Legend of Zelda.

This game sucks. I like the GCN one better.

Why is it abbreviated to GCN and not simply GC?

The internet speculation at the time was that they wanted to avoid confusion with the Neo Geo (Pocket) Color. I don't know how much validity there was to that.

I remember at the same time that they introduced "GCN," they also tried to push "AGB" at the abbreviation for Game Boy Advance. That one didn't last.

As dumb as I found "GCN" at the time, I got really used to calling it that dealing with some fairly anal retentive folk (the person on IRC who told me it was abbreviated GCN, mostly) and my usage above was out of habit.

Earlier I was wondering the same thing you guys just answered. Why is the Nintendo Gamecube abbreviated as GCN? Now I know.

People will still complain they rated it too low.

I am playing Skyward Sword right now. I am enjoying performing Link's Bo Jackson-esque wall run. That's all I have to say at this juncture.
