As dumb as I found "GCN" at the time, I got really used to calling it that dealing with some fairly anal retentive folk (the person on IRC who told me it was abbreviated GCN, mostly) and my usage above was out of habit.

You can also technically blame Nintendo for "PSX" too, correct?

It's pretty good so far. The style is really a mesh between toon link and twilight princess. Boo-urns on nintendo making Link right handed though.

Played the demo at Target for a bit yesterday. Not too bad. I can give a better opinion when the game actually releases.

I picked up my copy today. Likely won't have time for it for a few weeks/months, but I wanted the one with the Wiimote. Glad I pre-ordered it, Gamestop was pre-orders only for both the regular and collector's editions. After waiting in line about 20 minutes (and watching most of the people ahead of me either pick up a pre-order of Skyward Sword, or have waited in line just to be told they were out except pre-orders) I was finally the next person in line, and both people at the registers were trading in games. Wouldn't have been too bad, but one of them had about a dozen games, and the other had a fucking garbage bag completely full of games. And he was nitpicking the trade-in value of each one!

Picked up the Collector's Edition yesterday and played about 15 minutes of it. I can already tell the camera is going to piss me off (Z-targeting not withstanding), but I'm going to give it a chance.

Put almost 2 hours into it tonight. Barely feels like I've started, wish there was a fast forward option.

I'm going to assume that despite requiring it, this game does not come bundled with a motion plus adapter? I never got one.

The Collector's Edition comes with a gold one. Also comes with a soundtrack CD.

I assume those are sold out and my mother could not be trusted to locate one for Christmas (as well as explaining to her what a "Motion Plus Controller" is).

Tell her this:

Motion Plus and Motion Plus Controller are 2 different things, sort of. The latter is actually called a Wii Remote Plus.

The former is the square-ish dongle for the wii remote. The other is a remote with the dongle already inside it.

Apparently I needed a terminology lesson too.

I suppose a new Wiimote wouldn't hurt but I'd prefer to request a cheaper add-on... though if I could get the one with the golden remote, that would be swell.

I'm sure I'll eventually get the hang of it, but flying the bird is a BITCH!

I really want to play this game. But at the same time I barely play my Wii and just despise the Wii-mote and motion controls. And well Skyrim.

Not enough talk about this game.

Its SLOW to get going, played for almost 3 hours before it felt like I did anything.

I don't notice the differences from older Zelda games as much as some reviewers are talking about. I mean, there's a bit more work to do to get into a dungeon, but its not quite what I expected based on what I'd heard.

I'm waiting to be wowed, but most reviews say it takes 15-20 hours before it gets really good, so I guess I'm about halfway there.

I picked up an extra copy of the Collector's Edition to throw on Ebay while the value is still respectable.

I'm about 30 hours in and done probably 5 of the "dungeons". It's good and I'm used to the controls/ handling know. Not my favourite but still very solid.

I've barely played this game, and I don't particularly want to even though my PS3 breaking will force me to be Wii-exclusive for a few weeks. I really don't like the direction the series is taking, with the emphasis shifting away from action and combat towards puzzles, fetch quests and gimmicks like flying birds (or trains in the last DS game). Maybe giving the series over the a guy who doesn't like the original Zelda wasn't a great idea.

Do the loftwings play a bigger part later in the game? Aside from the opening Wing Ceremony thing (which I didn't really love), it seems like their use is pretty limited to just going to the next area on the surface.

This deep in they're just transport for point a-b. Really, they're the new boat/train

Just got far enough in now where you have the harp. What a lame instrument. I'm sure there's a way where playing it makes sense, but all I do is move it back and forth at varying speeds until it works itself out.

I knew they'd find a way to repurpose that Wii Music tech.

Finally got a chance to get back to this (last week) and I finished it this afternoon. Very solid outing, and alot to do. Personally I prefered Twilight Princess overall, but very much enjoyed this one.

The first month I spent with Majora's Mask, I didn't even leave the town or head towards a temple. I was just doing stuff in the favors notebook for a while.

Re: The Legend of Zelda Series - Skyward Sword November 20th

Yeah, but the first 2 hours of Skyward Sword is basically a tutorial if you've never played a Zelda game before. I know how to Z-target, I know how to talk to people, just let me get going.

I really like this game, but I'm in the last dungeon and haven't touched it in about a month. Trying to do the boss run to get the Hylian Shield and failing a few times burned me out on it, I think.

Re: The Legend of Zelda Series - Skyward Sword November 20th

On January 16th, 2013 Dark Horse will release in collaboration with Nintendo a 248 page book on The Legend of Zelda. Its called The Legend Of Zelda: Hyrule Historia. Its an all in color encyclopedia that will cover the full history of Zelda, include an opening from Miyamoto himself, concept art, a making of the franchise, and a manga from Legend of Zelda's manga artist Akira Himekawa. It'll be $35.99.

Oh and there was something about the official chronological order of the entire Zelda series.

Spoiler alert, since wikipedia tells me the book came out in Japan last December and someone already translated the timeline:

I keep forgetting that Skyward Sword exists and that I own it. I really need to start that soon.
