Played with 7 friends for hours tonight. I even did well at times. This game is so much fun.

I got beat about as badly as I expected to be beaten when playing Jer. Juri's EX cartwheel kicks are scaryscaryscary.

LOL's at the time I rolled a Cody when picking random despite having NEVER used him (maybe once or twice in Alpha 3...) and rolling Gen 3 times!

I'm really glad I got to use a bit of T.Hawk and Adon.

But honestly the numbers are getting a little high to be playing Random so much. I don't think it leads to "just mashing", but it does get a little frustrating having to try to remember which ultras are which, frantically flipping through the manual during the matchup screen. Would alphabetical character listings been too much to ask for?

Would be interested in trying out this 3+ person room if anyone else is down, I dunno how we'd arrange it, but it sounds like fun. Less Juri / Rufus matchups, although a 50/50 split is way better than 100/0 split...

This is why you need to practice a character until you have him/her down pat, in versus or arcade or even the trials.



I was owning everyone who came up against me last night - win streak FTW! I really like the 1 round setting in network battles. I find that the other people I'm facing really seem to up the ante when it comes to strategy and it presents a greater challenge for me.

I don't know the specifics of what was changed, but the flow and balancing in this game feels so much better than the first. I'm actually finding that my trusty old Blanka is even more of a beast this time out as I feel like it's much easier to flow from some of his combos into the charge moves now.

PS - when are motherfuckas gonna learn that standing across the screen and sloppily throwing hadoken's is NOT a valid defence and that there are players (like me) who know how to get around it and whup their ass in return?

Although it did help my Guilty Gear game to only play Baiken. Hmm...

Depends on how you play, really. I used to be a mark for Cammy & Ken.. and I would never touch chargers.. but once I started playing Blanka purely on a whim I found that I was really good with him. Like 10x better than I am with any of the QCF characters like Ryu, Ken, Cammy, etc. Though I still do go back to Sagat here and there.

I find with chargers I'm able to play a more defensive game and I usually end up on the winning side when the other player is too offensive for their own good. If I'm looking to go into serious offense mode, then I usually will pick Cammy (or now, Adon, with SSFIV)

While we're on the subject.. has anyone ever noticed that almost everyone who picks Ryu or Ken almost ALWAYS jumps toward you at the beginning of a match? I love it because I just hammer them with Blanka's vertical ball attack. The best part is when they try it again right after that.

That's like asking when pigs are going to fly. Hell, even I use it sometimes when I'm not sure what I'm going to do next, but at least I know you can get around it.

I gotta say the more I play Juri, the more I like her. She's got a nifty combo of an EX air move, that after you nail it, you can land her second ultra, Kaisen something something. I forget the name. Its a pretty sweet combo. I haven't really figured out a good way to use her Engine (Ultra 1), but Kaisen works just fine for me.

Now if only I could pull off moves as easily in actual combat as I do in Challenges and Training. Its annoying that I can pull off Fuhajin or Senshousha or even Kaisen in Training yet, in combat I can only get off Senshousha (I'm probably spelling this wrong, its her backwards wheel kick, 214ak).

Completed Vega's trials, and got my 10 wins in a row in Endless mode over a nice long evening. If anyone wants to try team battle, I'm free at 7 Pacific. Any takers?

Heh I got my ten wins in a row in endless too (thanks Eric!), but I still need to get it in ranked.

Juri's fun. I love her focus attack combo, FA, backdash, EX divekick, EX pinwheel kick. So stylish. I'm worried about how unsafe she is, though. When people realize how hard you can punish pinwheel, especially EX, she's going to be a lot harder to win with.

I <3 Rufus's Ultra 2. Shotos have something to fear now, yay! Sagat/Rufus still feels like a terrible matchup, though, but not quite as bad as before.

Eric - It seemed like Vega was the scariest of your characters to play against, other than your flowcharty Sagat. You might want to mess with him more.

I'm trying to get into Dee Jay right now.. he's pretty good but he's terrible against Rufus and Abel, especially Abel, so far.

But I don't think I used even half of the characters... And I never would have guessed that Vega was my heavy hitter.

I imagine a Sagat flowchart to be basically four different decision routes to Tiger Knee.

Having just played a pretty good El Fuerte, I've now played against every character in SSF4 on live. Fuerte is hilarious to play against. The El Fuerte Ultra Spark does so much freaking damage that once his revenge meter is filled the entire match becomes about avoiding that move.

Dante looks insane, but Deadpool may win Fighting Game Character of the Year if there is such a catagory. Him yelling at the player at the end of the match is only topped by yelling "BANGBANGBANGBANG!!" thorughout his special. Redfield was kinda generic although I did like him working up through his weapons for his special ending with the rocket launcher, and I liked Cap's Stars and Stripes.
