Evo was pretty hype. SSF4 was so ridiculously huge, 1700 people, Ceasar's ballroom was enormous and you could still barely move during SSF4 pools. Each pool had 90 people, most entire tournaments don't have that many. Tekken felt like it had about 250 people and was just tiny by comparison. I went a DQ assisted 4-2 in SSF4 and an embarrassing 0-2 in Tekken, lost to two Eddies, I'm so bad against him. Definitely was not expecting to do better in Street Fighter than Tekken, shrug.
SSF4 finals were hype but not as hype as last year. I like upsets, but I was a little disappointed not to see Justin make the finals just because it feels like he's the only American who can play a decent match against Daigo. Ricky did pretty well, but you could tell he was a little bit outclassed.
Yay Kayane! Old school Calibur represent~! Not only did she dominate the women's tourney, but she almost made it out of pools, which given the field is pretty impressive.
I'll definitely be there again next year, would be awesome to get some games in against TSM people.
Mike Ross V Daigo should be a good match..and I can only think that somewhere, fuckin Triforce is laughin his ass off at Justin right now.
It's hard to think that the Powerglove-wearing clown is laughing too much given that Justin won Marvel, Marn won TvC, and Ricky finished 2nd at Super. I'm not up on all the Empire/EG drama, but that's not exactly a bad showing by EG.
