I think that roster is only a rumor, Thoth. For one, Thor's missing from the Marvel side.

I'm aware. I took a risk posting it because it has Jill and Shuma as DLC. If I'm wrong... wouldn't be the first time I've footed my mouth in this board.

That and I have a hard time believing a Marvel vs. Capcom game would NOT have Megaman in it.

Especially considering his recent return to form of sorts with Megaman 9 and 10 and the upcoming Megaman Universe.

Ugh, no Ken. Only one of the Shoto's I actually like playing as. I'll more than likely wind up getting this but will quite possibly run a team with no Shoto on it.

I'm more annoyed at the lack of trying on some characters.

We've got Chris from the Resi Evil series, so why do we need Wesker and Jill too? Same goes for Dante and Trish. They have enough of a back catalogue of games that they don't need to borrow havily from one series.

Also, where's my Phoenix Wright?

Ok ok, so 40% of them are fighting games. I meant in the long run, really. :p

Also, where'd you get that list? I'd love me some online co-op Metal Slug.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I was actually pointing out that almost half of the games from the first release week are the fighting genre while the others are various. I assume this will continue.

The end of that trailer recommended liking them on facebook, so I went to their page and the list was there.

I'm kind of excited for this to be honest. I missed a lot of these games in the arcade, so it'll cool to play them co-op with people online. :)

Yeah, saw that yesterday on SRK and Eventhubs. Thinking I'm gonna get the CE edition for this and hope that Ono / Capcom decide to port over AE to the consoles..

Phoenix and Mike Haggar have been confirmed for MvC3. Phoenix can perform a move after being defeated that resurrects her as Dark Phoenix, and gives her full health. Her health will drain quickly though.

When Deadpool beats Magneto, he says "I just beat Mag-freakin'-Neto! Where yo curleh mustache at!" Seriously, he does. We saw it in the Capcom MvC 3 stream, and the chatroom lost it.

Has there ever been any words or rumblings of a sequel for Tatsunoko vs Capcom?
There were rumors of it being discussed as early as late December 2008.. but I didn't hear anything after that. I think it would have to depend on sales. I remember a quote from Christian Svensson of Capcom in the Spring saying he was happy with the sales. Not sure how it did in Japan, though.

Hah, this is great:

Joystiq.com said:
According to GamesRadar, Marvel vs Capcom 3 has a relatively unique solution to the problem of habitual online quitters. That is to say: People who quit online matches before they are over. That is to say: Rage quitters. Marvel vs Capcom 3 reportedly tracks players' quitting habits and can detect those who quit frequently. Said players will then be placed in a new matchmaking bracket -- one populated solely by other rage quitters.

In other words, quit all the time and you'll be paired with other players that quit all the time. Shoryuken notes that a similar system was implemented in Tatsunoko vs Capcom. We've contacted Capcom to confirm if such a system is indeed in place for MvC3. Assuming it's true, it's certainly a novel concept, though perhaps a terrifying one for those with unstable internet connections.

It works, too. Tatsunoko vs Capcom does this, and BlazBlue has a version of it as well.

I have no idea if we were posting that Mortal Kombat movie pitch trailer in here or TV/Film, so I'm gonna post this bit of news in both places.

Joystiq said:
Remember that super violent, Michael Jai White-fronted trailer for a Mortal Kombat film reboot that magically appeared on the internet last summer? Well, sadly, it failed to sell Warner Bros. on the prospect of turning the trailer into a full, proper film -- but that doesn't mean the project is totally dead. According to horror fan site Bloody Disgusting, director Kevin Tancharoen will begin filming a 10-part Mortal Kombat webisode series next month, following in the same gritty vein as last year's pilot.

Other than Jai White's continued involvement as Jax, Bloody Disgusting didn't mention many other details about the series' storyline. We'd usually like a little more reassurance than that; fortunately for these webisodes, the bar for Mortal Kombat-based pieces of cinema is unimaginably low. Like, low. We're talking subterranean, people.

Hsien-Ko and Sentinel will be the last two characters revealed, and then Galactus is the last boss, considering the leaked list has been 100% correct so far, including the fact that Akuma and Taskmaster are unlockables.

Is it confirmed that we get Knick-fan Sent?

Considering the guy choosing the Marvel colors approved the "Mag-fuckin-Neto" color and that "curleh mustache" is a quote IN THE GAME, it's unconscionable that Mango Sentinel will be absent from the game.

Did we really need another Darkstalkers character?

It's not like Capcom has no properties to play around with.

But is it just me, or is there quite a few similar characters in this one? I mean, there is a lot of X-Men characters.

Magneto
Phoenix
Storm
Wolverine
X-23
Sentinal
Deadpool (it could be argued)

That's 33% of the Marvel roster. There was surely room for other choices in there - Daredevil, Punisher, Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage etc.

It's the same with the Capcom side, did we really need three Resi Evil characters? Did we need both Dante and Trish? It's not like Capcom are short on characters to choose from.

Three from Darkstalkers, too. And four or five from Street Fighter.

I haven't compared rosters, but I've seen a few saying that the ratio of X-Men is similar to the other games.

In X-23's case, she's only in to promote her new book, of course. I would have rather had Cyke back, personally. At least there were a few non-annoying left field choices made and some DLC left still.

Yeah it has always been X-Men heavy - I guess thats why it's bugging me this time. Wolverine is a given and the new additions of Pheonix and Sentinal is something I can dig. Storm does nothing for me however.

I just think they could have pushed some new stars who have not featured in any of the Vs series. Like the afore mentioned Ms Marvel or Luke Cage.

EDIT: I think I'm just bitter because DD has been overlooked again.
