Ykw? In retrospect, it's pretty crazy to think of how short Punk's run at the top of WWE was. It seems longer in my hazy (and apparently recollection). But it was less than five years span from him cashing in his 2nd MITB briefcase to win his 2nd World Title from Jeff Hardy (IE when his WWE stuff started actually getting real good) to when he left.

Then again, SCSA and The Rock had just about as short runs as top guys.

I think that was the last time a Rumble surprise got me jumping and celebrating, and then they actually used him well afterward! Some people are so fuckin' good even WWE can't fuck them up.

It wasn't great. But it could have been a lot worse. Rotunda/Williams vs. Kawada/Fuchi from that year was pretty good.

Btw, maybe I'm just an idiot and I wasn't really watching at that point, but it never occurred to me that the Serena from the Straight Edge Society was Serena Deeb.

I could see that. Tbf, looking at her Cagematch, it looks like she only worked one televised match (a throwaway 3 minute mixed tag on a Smackdown! in August 2010) during that Straight Edge Society run so there wasn't even any indication to casual early 2010s WWE fans that she was even an actual worker.

Looking at Rotunda's Cagematch, he did a US Express reunion in '03-'04 with Barry Windham in that Japanese indie that randomly brought back a bunch of '80s-'90s WWF midcarders.

Serena looks so much harsher now that it's easy to miss. Between the hair and the mileage she's hard to recognize unless you know already. Took me too long to see how awesome she is.

Hrmm... I was prepared to push back pretty hard against this, until Doctor Internet told me that she's only thirty-five. I do find myself inclined to believe that most of it is just her losing weight, and getting her implants removed. I remember when she debuted in SHIMMER, before she had her nose job, and before she got the implants, and she looked pretty similar to how she looks, now. But, that said, I did expect to find out that she was over forty, for how she looks in the face, these days.

Losing both ECW and WCW was what really hurt. If ECW had been as strong as it was in 1998 and WCW folded the sting wouldn't have been as bad. Hell, you probably would've had some big stars make appearances in ECW, and you might have gotten a legit tv deal. Losing both was the drizzling shits.

And he was immediately the scariest motherfucker in the business. But I'll never forget the debate, mostly on the Torch, about whether Brock would be "the next Angle or the next Sid." Dude got some contempt early.

On this board! Was it Anglesault who was freaking out for weeks over "Broccoli (he's green!) is going to hurt Angle's neck at WM!"??
