That is probably the smoothest Flair sequence I've ever seen.

Everything about that match is perfect. I can even accept the clusterfuck finish in context. Shawn's ppv stretch in '96 doesn't get the love it should. Shitty character and just being a whiny bitch aside, that was an excellent time. Between his main events and Foley saving Taker, I was so down. Second best table bump ever.

That's one of those "omg 5 starz" matches that I don't care for much. Both guys have done far, far better...just even in the 00s.

I only know that because Shawn had the bandage from HITC, and I only remember that because he had it on when they gave Michael Cole a wedgie.

It is fun learning as an adult that Regal is actually probably closer to the Man's Man character IRL than the prim and proper stuffy suit.

Medium spicy take...I feel like there's a germ of a good idea in the Man's Man gimmick but just make him a Vinnie Jones style hard man not literally walking around wearing a construction hat. But I guess he was so zonked out in '98/'99 that it wouldn't have worked regardless.

Happy heavenly birthday to Randy Savage!

To think if TNA let him win the World Title in '04, he'd only be...well he'd still be way too old but at least, it'd set a precedent for WWE giving dudes in their fifties World Titles.

(Don't bring up Verne Gagne, @BruiserBrody !)

(You can bring up Terry Funk's ECW World Title run, @Laz )

Honestly he was just took good playing the Lord character. I didn't understand a lot of what Regal did in WCW. When you get familiar with british comedy you see he's intentionally doing everything for a laugh, he's in on the joke and it's just brilliant. The Man's Man gimmick gave credence to his legitimate grappling and tough guy skills, but it also stripped away the part of his gimmick that made him special.

Having said that I kind of want to see a Ron Swanson type "Man's Man" gimmick now. From parts unknown, weight unknown (none of your damn business). No posing. No flair to his moves, this isn't figure skating.
