Let’s revisit why the GOP was so eager to get this bill done right now, even though it’ll still have the majority when it comes back in January. The party is clearly operating under the premise that something is coming over the holidays that’ll make it very difficult to pass partisan legislation for the foreseeable future. Throw in the fact that the Republicans in Congress were so bent on completing the tax heist before going on holiday recess, they were willing to humiliate themselves by passing a half-finished and incoherent bill that most of them hadn’t even fully read. They desperately wanted this over with. Yet now Trump is announcing he won’t sign it until January 2nd

GOP suddenly began rejecting Trump’s various nominees this week after having rubber stamped them all year, and it’s clear the GOP is positioning itself for some sort of Trump implosion – perhaps even one that it’s strategically planning to trigger itself.

According to insiders, Trump has transformed what was the “living room” in the Presidential Residence into his own bedroom, with no one, including his wife and son having any access to the bedroom. As part of this, he has refused to allow White House staff to regularly clean the room.

In fact, after Melania arrived in the White House, he ordered that a special lock that could only be controlled by him, be installed in the room – which the Secret Service immediately rejected as unsafe, requiring them to also have access to the lock.

Making this even weirder, only his daughter Ivanka Trump is allowed in his bedroom in the morning, when Trump strips his own bed, refusing to allow White House staff to even touch the covers. It’s noted that Ivanka often comes in early in the morning to “wake up” the President.

The Trump administration has told lawmakers that it wants $18 billion over the next decade for the initial phase of a Mexico border wall, laying out for the first time a detailed financial blueprint for the president’s signature campaign promise.

The money would pay for 316 miles of new fencing and reinforce another 407 miles where barriers are already in place, according to cost estimates sent to senators Friday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. If the work was completed, more than half of the 2,000-mile border with Mexico would have a wall or other physical structure by 2027.

In addition to the $18 billion in wall funding, the CBP also requested $8 billion for additional personnel and training, $5 billion for new border technology and at least $1 billion to build more access roads. The final price tag for the CBP spending plan would exceed $33 billion over the next decade, according to a copy of the document obtained by The Washington Post.

The $33 billion would not include what are likely to be additional funding requests for the other Department of Homeland Security agencies central to Trump’s plans for an immigration overhaul, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is looking to add 10,000 more officers and dramatically expand the number of beds it has available for immigration detention.
