Seinfeld and Dinosaurs also had some pretty bizarre finales.

ALF is my all time favorite show, Project ALF was okay.

I don't think I've seen Alf since I was a kid. I have never caught a rerun. Are there reruns?

I doubt it. It didn't even have much shelf life on Nick At Nite/TV Land from what I remember. It was a bit before my time so I caught most of the series on the short lived Odyssey Channel, the channel partly owned by The Jim Henson Company in the late '90s/early '00s. The daily back to back block of ALF and The Muppet Show was can't miss for 11 year old King Kamala. That was also the last place I saw Muppet Babies and Fraggle Rock on TV.

I fear I'm going to die before the day Muppet Babies sees a legal home video release of the complete series :'(

I saw the last Full House for the first time years after it had originally aired, and I expected that the amnesia plot device was an excuse to shoehorn lots of flashbacks to prior episodes into this finale, and yet contrary to the memories of many in this thread I don't think there was a single one. Am I wrong?

The fact that DJ's ex boyfriend just returned out of nowhere in the final moments of the "Full House" series finale always baffled me.

It didn't have many flashbacks no, I think it was going to continue another season and ABC pulled the plug on it so they wrote a finale around the idea. It was also to show Michelle in a vulnerable state and one final BOUNCING BACK moment I suppose.

I think they explained it in the episode though. I think.

The series finale of Family Matters may have been the most inexplicable half hour of television I've ever seen. My friend and I were just gobsmacked by the inanity while watching it during a BET marathon of the show during Christmas break.
To be fair, it wasn't supposed to be the series finale.
Yeah, I know that. Though I really wonder where the hell they would have gone with the show if they hadn't gotten canceled. Would it have revolved around the married adventures of Urkel and Laura?

Incidentally, the Full House series finale is also in the Top 5 Most Bizarre finales. The other three; St. Elsewhere, Roseanne, and Alf.
The final episode of "Rosanne" remains the ultimate baffling finale for a sitcom. Nothing will ever top it.

If "Family Matters" had a proper final season, this is most likely what would have happened

-Steve and Laura get married
-Steve and Carl get in a wacky Science Fiction based plot revolving around dinosaurs or something.
-Urkelbot returns
-Eddie Winslow becomes a TSM gimmick poster
-The Home Boys From Out Space make a guest appearance
-The wedding of Steve and Laura has wacky events
-The series ends with a 10 year jump into the future. We found out Carl died of a heart attack, Steve and Laura have kids, Eddie took Carl's job, and Waldo settled down but remained to only likable character on the show.

Muppet Babies was awesome. I still remember them getting Darth Vader as their new nanny.

That's what the episode guest starring the Home Boys From Outer Space is for. You come up with a scenario.

I am a firm believer that the dream sequence in Muppets Take Manhattan that the Muppet Babies were spun off from is one of the ten greatest scenes in cinematic history.

But we already have a Muppets thread somewhere so I'll shut up. This has nothing to do with Full House except I think the little forgotten Muppets comeback attempt Muppets Tonight was in the TGIF lineup the season after Full House ended. America just wasn't ready for a black Muppet hosting the show over Kermit.

Also, there's the obligatory "very special episode" which either involves a gay friend or the evils of porn. Since this was the 90's, the latter is more likely.

Another reason why the last seasons of Family Matters sucked; no Waldo Faldo. He left before the second to last season to go to culinary school.

Also 3J, one of the more annoying examples of gratuitous sassy little kid to liven up a dying sitcoms in television history. I think Jackee was involved in the last season too. I don't know. She was involved in every black sitcom from 1985 to 1997, right?

Some plot descriptions from the last season for yuks...

Harriette and her co-workers get a new boss Mr. Breenner (Mark Linn-Baker) who uses verbal abuse to try to make his employees perform better. Meanwhile, Urkel wins a chance to win $1 million by making a half-court shot during the halftime portion of an Los Angeles Clippers game.

Wait...wasn't the show set in Chicago? Why would Urkel be attempting at a half court shot halfway across the country? Of all the illogical things to happen on this show, why am I complaining about this?
O.G.D. (Urkel's hip-hop cousin from Detroit, Michigan) has an unwelcome visit to the Winslow household while Steve is away visiting his uncle. Little does O.G.D. know is that he'll need the Winslows' help on evading a titanic thug (known as Fresh Squeeze), to whom he owes $4,000.
Note: Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott makes a cameo appearance in this episode performing "Sock It 2 Me" from the album Supa Dupa Fly at a club featuring Da Brat. Jaleel White played a triple role as Steve Urkel, cousin O.G.D, and Stefan.
In an effort to decrease his clumsiness, Urkel gets a job at Tanaka Gardens (a Japanese restaurant) as a master teppanyaki chef. His training is put to the test when Laura and Maxine drop by for a visit. Meanwhile, while Commissioner Geiss is away on a second honeymoon, Carl must watch his pet parrot, Andre. However, when Andre starts to repeatedly say "Geiss is an idiot," Carl must try to make the parrot stop saying that phrase before Geiss comes home.
Guest Star: Pat Morita as Mr. Tanaka

Didn't Urkel make a cameo on Step by Step? Or was that Full House? Maybe both?

Boy Meets World is also in the same universe as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, You Wish, and Teen Angel.

Funniest episode of Teen Angel and I absolutely mean it: When the entire cast ends up eating the Death Burger.

And Family Matters was a spin-off from Perfect Strangers, right?

So that means as of now we have Family Matters, Full House, Step by Step, Boy Meets World, Perfect Strangers, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, You Wish and Teen Angel all in the same universe. That's 8 so far. What other crossovers can all be applied?

But Balki was Jean-Luc on Step by Step! And Larry was Harriett's mean boss in a later season! The TGIF Universe could have unravelled the very fabric of time, but thankfully that was just a worse case scenario.

Probably because they only lasted one season. They were effectively Family Matters and Step by Step's replacements when those shows moved to CBS.

Thinking about those latter day, short lived TGIF shows reminds me of a time when a guy claiming to be ABC's failed attempt at creating the next teen idol, Erik Von Detten showed up in a Yahoo! Chatroom and we all told him Odd Man Out sucked. I'm glad he's recovered from our derision enough to star in some C list low brow comedies and have a recurring role on Community.

No, wait, that's Eric Christian Olsen who played Vaughn. If you're reading this Erik Von Detten, I'm sorry. (not really)

How about when Jesse's "papali" or whatever dies and Michele and everyone else is devastated despite knowing him for like 2 days or so

He really must have made a real impression in those 48+ hours

and yes the eppy where Joey turns heel as a business man when everyone thinks he's a joke is awesome

Urkel actually did drop in on a Step-By-Step ep. It was heavily hyped on TGIF. At the end of a Family Matters ep, Urkel's rocket sent him through the Winslow roof and into outer space. At the beginning of Step-By-Step, he fell into the family backyard.

I always cursed Urkel for pursuing ugly ass Laura . . . then, Myra enters the scene and Steve barely wants anything to do with her. Fuck, even Maxine was worlds hotter than Laura.

I think they were more devastated for Uncle Jesse since he obviously loved his pa pa and all, but yeah it was kind of extreme.
