And every time you do a big move or get one done to you...it's like you can go cook dinner, eat that dinner, clean the plates and put the souffle in the oven...then come back and catch the end of the move. It kills gameplay which doesn't exactly feel tight to begin with.

Maybe that's just because Warrior is stronger than Rey? (Those are the two in the demo, right?)

Rey's move takes longer than Warrior's!

I may consider this when it inevitably is on sale on Amazon for like $25-30.

It's too bad to hear that the controls are crap since the game looked pretty entertaining. Sounds like another version of Legends of Wrestling: great roster, but terrible gameplay.

Visually its nice, the thing is though that since its set from the announcer PoV, you can sometimes misjudge a grapple if you're larger than your opponent and they are in front of you.

Its just the controls are rather stiff and do not allow for you to really get into a rhythm at all. You can only really run in one direction and that in and of itself is rather herky-jerky in how it starts/stops.

I'd maybe rent this...but no way I'd buy it.

I don't think it knows what it wants to be. It's like a fighting game...only it's too slow and the controls aren't good enough...or it's a wrestling game but it's too fast and the controls aren't good enough.

They did however bring the goods in the avatar marketplace. Full Hogan, Piper, Slaughter, Bret Hart and Macho Man outfits, an Austin 3:16 shirt, Damien!

Also Venkman...I demand you purchase the Ghostbusters jumpsuit for your avatar that they put out with the crappy game they made.

That sounds like something I would do.

I played the PS3 demo for All-Stars and the first time I played, I hated it. Rey pinned me outside the ring (huh?) and I had no idea how to do anything.

I did a rematch and I adored it. I just loved punching the shit out of Rey, then slamming him a few times, some Warrior clotheslines, a shoulder tackle, gorilla press, big splash, air juggle combos after I did a shoryuken somehow... good fun. Still wasn't quite sure what I was doing, but I liked it.

And then there's what I got with my avatar: The Million Dollar Championship.

Put that together with the tux that they have in the "Bejeweld" section of the Avatar marketplace for a classy look.

Also, I enjoyed the demo. I've played it a few times since last night.

For those that have problems understanding the controls, wweallstars.com has a PDF of a playing guide for the demo.

Apparently the fact I've reversed nothing is because I've never played the TNA game (which this is based on).

Can I be a Ghostbuster and a Million Dollar champion? I must investigate...

I have no problem understanding the controls.. the execution is just terrible and the flow is just way too off for me to enjoy it. I deleted the demo after 5 attempts at a match. I was really looking forward to this too, and hoping it would play faster and more like a Street Fighter game (that it desperately wants to be).

I enjoyed it. It's no N64 game, but much like Legends of Wrestlemania. It's different enough from SD vs Raw that I'll be willing to buy it.

Hah, what are the odds. Not impressed by the All Stars demo, so of course I end up winning a free copy from a local shop. Do I trade it in or play it to see if anything has changed since the demo?

You might as well play it once. Opening it shouldn't affect the trade-in value. Hell, when I worked at Sam Goody as it closed, I grabbed a handful of DS games that weren't selling to trade them in and got told that some places don't accept games still in the packaging because they could be stolen.

Give it a shot. Sometimes controls have gretly improved since demos were released.

I'm going to wait for Amazon's inevitable sale on it in a few weeks to pick it up (since I still have $20 in credit from Bulletstorm). I'm watching Giant Bomb's quick look and I've been messing with the demo more.

Full game feels better. Better flow. Reversals don't seem so hard. As soon as I started the game it had a patch waiting to download, so maybe they made some fixes based on demo feedback. Either way, enjoying this much more! How do you unlock alt attires?

For the CAW's, can you download them from the Internet or are you going to have to put in formulas that people post online?

Honestly, I like the cartoonish-type look of the game. Reminds me of the old N64 games.

I didn't see anything about downloading creations, so I think it's all formula based if you want to create another persons edits. But FWIW the CAW in this is really simple which can be good and bad.. I guess. I really don't like how they recycle pieces from the SD games for this though. All of the facepaints are exact replicas of what they have in SDvR, even the order they're presented in is the same. There is no way that they're "rebuilding" everything for every new game like Marcus Stephenson would like us to believe.

Anyway, building on my last post. I'm keeping this game now. I'm glad it feels much better than the demo did. Some randoms:

-I had an awesome fight between Mr Perfect and Jake Roberts last night. Grapplers are awesome in this game.
-Macho King!
-Hollywood Hogan is in this, but no nWo music. :(
-Miz's alternate attire is from his tag team days with Morrison. Hat and all.
-There is an unlock all code, but you have to use it every time you reboot the game.. which I kind of like because then you can still get the accomplishment of unlocking things at your own pace.. but if you just want to play a match with nWo Hogan vs 70's Andre you can just input the code and not have to worry about it.
-Rock's alt is pretty lazy - just a different colour for the font on his tights. They should've done his bald/more tattoos heel look from when Goldberg was around.
-Speaking of Goldberg, he'd be a great DLC for this, IMO!
-Online is BROKEN, big time. I couldn't even create a match, let alone find one to play in. Every time I tried it would just hang there creating the match or actually bounce me back out to the main PS3 system menu.

So I had a thought the other day about how cool a wrestling game would be if the entire point of it was to put on good and exciting matches. It doesn't even need to be with modern graphics, just use sprites Fire Pro style, but the entire point of the game is to set a determined winner and timeframe and then play the match accordingly, map it out move-for-move, or just let the CPU control what happens to lead up to the finish.

It's not something that will likely ever see the light of the day unless somebody does it up using just flash animation and basic game writing, but I think the idea itself is pretty cool. It's not quite an entire game based on GM Mode, since you can actually choose the winner of the match without playing it, but it's closer to that than any other game. Think of it like an animated EWR/TEW or WreSpi.
