Basically what they suggests. Normal is the same default settings as always of course. Quick settings are essentially a squash match/job. You'll get your finisher after hitting like 3 moves. From what I can tell bodies are damaged quicker. Hit 1 or 2 groggy grapples and you'd be able to pin off of them. Epic, it takes longer to get your finisher. The AI plays a little smarter. Easier to kick out of finishers, so you can have a bunch of false finishes.

It seems basically to be a secondary set of difficulty settings. You have easy, normal, hard...then you can play those on "easy, normal, or hard".

For instance I play the epic matches on normal, and they go on longer the AI is smarter, kicks out of big moves, reverses moves for nice sequences...but it's not legend mode where it's just a reversal fest. I can tell it's still on normal. But a better match then "normal".

I had a CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho match on Epic the other night. Jericho kicked out of a GTS, Punk kicked out of a Codebreaker, Punk then countered a Codebreaker, Jericho then countered a GTS, Jericho went for a small package, Punk reversed and Jericho reversed back and got the pin.

One of the best video game matches I've ever had.

Were you playing it or simming CPU vs CPU? I don't usually do simmed matches, but I tried one just for the hell of it last night using the Epic setting. Holy fuck - this setting combined with some tweaked balance sliders makes for some crazy matches!

I think this is the thing that all of those King of Colosseum fans were looking for in an American wrestling game. Hopefully there will be an influx of awesome puroresu CAW's on community creations soon, as a result. ;)

The coolest counter I saw was Undertaker - somehow, it doesn't make a lot of physical sense but the cutting makes it look fluid - catch Shawn Michaels' elbow drop into a Tombstone. It also sucked because I lost the match, but overall, pretty sweet.

Oh yeah I haven't even thought about catching someone off the top rope with a finisher. Speaking of community creations, has anyone checked that out yet? Anything worthwhile? Is it even working yet?

The PSN version is working perfectly, for me at least. I've downloaded a WCW Arena as well as CAW's of Steve Blackman (a really good one) and Tajiri (almost perfect). It's mostly just random fictional wrestlers right now.. and a ton of Goldberg's, Ryback's and Jeff Hardy's, too.

That sounds pretty wild! I was doing Attitude Mode last night and was at the HBK vs Bulldog match from One Night Only. I was trying to get the "dive to the outside" objective and went for a flying axhandle. I don't know if it was something that was just timing or if it was an actual animation but it looked fluid as hell.. I landed right beside Bulldog, missing of course, but right away it was like he caught me on the side and just slammed me down into the mat. It was so simple but looked really good.

I also like that they seem to now adjust themselves for when they are doing things like elbows off the top rope. Michaels now lands the elbow across the chest every time instead of just hitting anywhere (legs, etc). Looks good!

BTW, what's the size of your save file on 360? The PS3 one is 3 fuckin gigs! The save file, not game/install data. Brutal! That rules out saving it to the PS+ cloud (1GB total storage, max). It's also copy protected so you can't back up to external storage..

Back of the box says 5MB.

I finally did the match properly - the problem was Paul Bearer always distracted the ref, the computer was too cognizant of what I was trying to do and would hide outside if I knocked Paul out, and the one time Undertaker actually stopped Bearer from interrupting the pinfall... he STILL interrupted the pinfall. I guess I just got lucky and Bearer didn't bother doing anything on my last attempt.

Wow, 5MB - you lucked out there.

RE: managers. Yes, they are fucking annoying as hell when they are not on your side. I think in standard non-Attitude Mode matches they will eventually get ejected from ringside if they interrupt too much - which is great since they interrupt EVERYTHING.

Yeah, that's been the norm for a bit now, but when the objective is to win within 10 seconds of hitting a finisher they ruin everything.

For fun, I just did a quick cage match between Brock Lesnar and Mike Tyson with 2 stored finishers. I opened the match with an F5, hit the SSP, then left the cage. Quick match? No, that was EPIC! (but not the epic setting).

So wait...you have to hold a button down until a meter fills up to get out of a pinfall? I hated that feature and always turned it off.

Yup - it's permanent now. I prefer button mashing, myself. The only plus side is that some wrestlers have a "resiliency" attribute that lets you extend the green area.

So, I rented this and I'm going through the attitude era mode. Up to HIAC against Taker when Kane comes out and Tombstones Undertaker. Taker then immediately pops up, gets hit with Sweet Chin Music, and then kicks out at 1.

JUST LIKE HOW IT ALWAYS WENT DOWN.

I was really expecting Kane to deliver a sloppy Tombstone where he just kind of falls down quickly on both knees too.

Ok another minor attitude era mode thing that maybe shouldn't bug me as much as it does but..

When you unlock the first 3 bonus matches in the DX story, they're labeled as bonus match #1, #2 and #3. Then you go into the Austin story, and the first bonus match you unlock is bonus match 15. FIFTEEN. Sure, I can see how they got to that number, because it's the 15th total match in attitude era mode, but still...how does the jump from 3 to 15 happen in the final product. Was anyone QCing this game?

I think it's a nice touch that they actually change music during the Attitude Era mode, specifically Mankind's remixed theme that he only used for two weeks being used at Rock Bottom and the Raw title match with Rock, although it's kind of annoying it's not available anywhere (unless it is, because I didn't check the music edit files very closely / before unlocking people). Similarly, the different attire people wear that I know isn't actually available in the game - seems kind of silly to design attire than not be able to use it, but this only really applies to Michaels (with Ken Shamrock for example, it's just a "Superstar Threads" colour change).

I'm partial Shamrock's late-98 "I will fucking murder you and not even feel it" turquoise attire.

Yeah for the Mankind music - only his original and "guitar" theme are available in the edit mode. Stupid, I know. Ditto goes for the attires thing.

Probably picking this up on Sunday. Skipped '12 because of the bad press I was hearing. The only WWE game I've played on the current gen is SDvRaw 2011. How does it stack up compared to that one?

Oh yeah, Adam Ryland's new Total Extreme Warfare game will feature umbrella organizations. So, modmakers can actually recreate the territories correctly.

But they DID include my favourite Undertaker theme, so I changed AE Taker's theme to that.

Also for those of you on XBL, look for and review "Evolution of Rock" on video now.

Don't know how many other people know this, or if I'm just late to the party or not but this year in Universe mode you can create your entire card before you start the show. That way you don't have to exit after the match to create the next one (which is what I've been doing so far)

Apparently you can just edit the matches at the home screen and just hit 'Save' and it'll hold that match in place. I had no idea.

Although evidently it doesn't save the attire options. (And probably the match setting options)

Of note, though, apparently editing the matches removes any cutscenes that were planned if there is a rivalry involved?

That's what I've always thought. (I think that even includes 'changing participants' just to change the attire) That's why I usually just launch if it looks like a good match, that might have a scene.

I would hope editing the whoel show, and using next match from the match ending screen will change that, but I'm really not sure.
