Hardly a surprise here but the first hour is commercial free.

We all know (or at least hope) CM Punk isn't going to be used as much as he was in AEW but I am curious how often he will be seen in WWE. It's kind of interesting and weird that they had his return just as they're heading to the deadest part of the year for their shows.

If I'm Triple H, I do a lot of satellite promos and training vignettes for Punk to build to the Rumble rather than having him schlep to Albany, Little Rock, and Des Moines to cut promos and compete in random six man tags.

Fightful reporting there are people who said they didn’t want to work with him and were asking to talk to higher ups about his role in the company.

Punk is a dick. No two ways about that. With that said...he is a name, his name carries value, and him going back to WWE is a huge deal IMO. I haven't tuned into anything outside of a random WM or Rumble in years, and I will tune into raw tonight.

I also reactivated peacock at the 1.99 black friday promo deal .

It may all blow up, but I'm at least intrigued which is more than I can say about WWE in any sense in the past decade outside of the Sami/Bloodline stuff.

Man the best thing about Punk in AEW was that he was on all the time (when he wasn't hurt). I don't want to see old guys who come in once a month anymore. That's why I give credit to Edge for how hard he's going in AEW too. Roman not being on TV ever was one of the big things that finally got me to stop watching WWE tv.

There's zero doubt Punk coming back will get people to check out WWE again for a week or two. Maybe even for a couple months. But unless they give Punk something interesting to do it won't matter. It is also an open question on whether it will lead to people buying tickets to shows Punk isn't on. Ticket sales were starting to soften for WWE which I'm sure is another reason they did this.

I generally agree but I think AEW run showed he is not mentally or physically equipped for a full time run. Which is another strike against signing him. WWE really doesn’t need another part timer and I think that’s what you would have to use Punk as to make this run work.

Punk coming back just to destroy people in promos for no reason and barely working is an interest fate. He'd become what he bitched about Rock being.

The obvious is a straightforward Punk/Rollins program starting tonight. I wonder if there is any Heyman mention though. Maybe plant the seeds for something beyond Seth.

That video does a great job of making it seem like it will not be the feud of the feud of the decade if only because it showcases that Seth will not be able to keep up on the mic without sounding like a doofus.

Punk can be around a bunch, he just doesn't have to be giving midcarders fifteen minute matches each week. It's the value he presents, dude can just be in angles and cutting promos with a minute of brawling or whatever. Don't take any bumps, and it'll make it mean more when he does.

He was released in November 2021 then brought back three months later to be a part of creative. I think he's on his third WWE run?

I still don't know if him getting released, cutting a weepy promo on social media then getting resigned to NXT during the start of COVID was a work or not so it might just be run #2.

He's definitely someone I wish was doing other things, however honestly since he saved Bret from the dreadlocked invader at the HOF he should have a gig for at least the rest of Nattie's career.

If you are a lapsed fan who turns back in for the first time in years and you see Randy Orton "is back" and is in the main event picture still is that a positive or a negative?

This show is a chore to get through. Unless the Punk angle at the end is amazing this is the last Raw I watch in a long time.
I tried to tell you guys how stale the product is. Whatever you think is bad about AEW is MUCH worse in WWE. All their big storylines are on year or YEARS time frames they don't do anything from month to month.
