WWE NXT – 8/14/2013

WWE NXT – 08/14/2013

As the crowd at Full Sail chants NXT, Paul Heyman interrupts while introducing himself.

Heyman reveals he is in Orlando as it is time he starts scouting a new Paul Heyman Guy.  He puts over the competition in NXT.  Heyman lets the crowd know that not only in that locker is not only the next Paul Heyman guy but the next Paul Heyman, the next Brock Lesnar and Heyman brings out the Intercontinental Champion and his protégé, Curtis Axel.

The gold of the Intercontinental belt seems to shine extra in the NXT Arena and Tony Dawson lets us know that he and William Regal will be on commentary tonight.

Heyman starts telling us Axel will not be defending the title tonight because there is no one man enough in Florida to win.

BIG E LANGSTON’S MUSIC HITS

The crowd is going nuts chanting “Five!” while Big E makes an attempt to tell them he is man enough to take that championship.

Heyman tries to shoot him down but Axel  tells him he will fight him.  As Big E heads to the ring, Axel says he will fight him on the Thanksgiving or Christmas show.

Langston tells him to shut up and prove himself tonight, which stirs The Perfect Son up enough to accept the challenge.  There will be an Intercontinental Title Match to start the show.

Intercontinental Championship Match

Curtis Axel (Intercontinental Champion) vs. Big E Langston

After Axel gets done consulting Heyman, the men circle off.  Axel slinks away and mocks “FIVE” to the crowds’ disapproval.

Axel with some early fists but makes the mistake of running the ropes and gets hit with a nasty belly to belly by the former NXT Champion before getting sent out of the ring and to commercial break.

Back to action, Langston has Axel in a headlock.  Axel gets free but knocked down by Langston’s shoulder.  Langston smacks him silly with five punches to the gut as the crowd chants along, before asking for “FIVE MORE TIMES”.

Axel takes a cheap shot at Langston’s leg and takes control of the match.  The crowd starts chanting THANK YOU PAUL, as Axel keeps up his offense to ground Langston more in one match than he probably has been in his entire NXT run.

Langston starts powering out of Axel’s submissions and tosses Axel.  He throws five knees to the gut before steam-rolling Axel with one of his signature knockdowns.

Langston starts setting up for the Big Ending when Heyman runs in and hits Big E, who does not flinch.

Winner: Big E Langston

Langston turns to Heyman but Axel starts the attack.  He lays out Big E but when he goes to hit Big E with his title belt, Langston nails the Big Ending.  He signals to the crowd who wants a five count, so he goes and counts the five on the downed Intercontinental Champion.

Match graphic for NXT Tag Champions Corey Graves and Adrian Neville teaming up with Xavier Woods to take on The Shield.

Backstage Renee Young is with Sami Zayn.  Zayn downplays any issue he had with Bo Dallas and starts going after Cesaro and Colter.  He talks about how they want to expose him but he will expose Cesaro as a coward.

MASON RYAN MAKES HIS WAY TO THE RING!  STOP THE SHOW IT WON’T BE TOPPED!

As he is in the ring, his entrance is interrupted by the French accent of Sylvester Lefort who starts talking about money and brings out Scott Dawson, who now has his entrance only show his name, no more references of the cut Garrett Dylan (Son of Kristofferson).

Mason Ryan vs. Scott Dawson

Regal continues to put Dawson over strong on Dawson’s way to the ring.

Dawson starts yapping at Mason Ryan and Mason grabs his hand and squeezes him.  A quick clothesline and Ryan tosses Dawson in the corner and charges him.

Same practice in the other corner.

A few punches in, Enzo Amore’s music  hits and Amore and Cassidy come down to yell at Ryan.  This allows Dawson to start taking out Mason’s knees.

Mason knocks down Dawson and he shouts at the Jersey duo.

He hits Dawson with a big slam for the three count.

Winner: Mason Ryan

As soon as the three count ends, Amore and Cassidy are in the ring.  He tosses them outside and then press slams Dawson over the top onto both of them.

Three men down on the outside and Mason Ryan flexing in the ring. All is right in the world.

Match graphic for tonight’s first-ever NXT Women’s Championship title defense as Paige defends her newly earned championship versus the First Lady of NXT, Summer Rae.

The champion, Paige, comes out to the ring first.

Summer Rae is out next being amazing and the women get in-ring introductions.

NXT Women’s Championship

Paige (NXT Women’s Champion) vs. Summer Rae

After the referee shows the title to the crowd, the competitors circle and lock up.

Side headlock from Summer to Paige and after they break up, Summer hits a cross body on Paige.

Paige starts showing some of her aggressiveness and tosses Summer by the hair before choking her with a boot in the corner.  Paige goes for a boot, which Summer catches and tosses her on the ground as Tony Dawson highlights how well these two know each other.

Summer starts choking Paige in the ropes before pulling her in for a one-count.

Summer climbs on Paige and slams her head to the mat for a two count.  The two take a somersault-type roll with each other and Summer starts taunting the crowd while standing above Paige.

Paige starts fighting back with some fists followed by an armdrag, which Summer reverses into a submission.

Paige drives Summer into the turnbuckle and starts flinging elbows into the head of Mrs. Fandango.  Paige catches Summer’s boot and does the same face-first slam she received in the same spot earlier in the match.

Paige gets Summer in the ropes and starts kneeing her in the face, much to the delight of William Regal.

Paige is able to nail the Paige Turner and successfully retain in her first title defense.

Winner: Paige

Paige celebrates in the ring with the championship while the referee checks on Summer Rae.

Renee Young is backstage and she introduces AJ Lee, who introduces the Divas Championship as her baby.  Renee asks who may challenge for the title but AJ lets us know she likes to keep things unpredictable.  AJ says it could be the camera guy, boom guy or even Renee.  As Renee starts talking about not being able to get in the ring, she gets a giant hug from behind by Bayley.

Bayley tells AJ how much she likes her and she followed her from her car.  She tells AJ she wanted to ask her something and asks if she could wrestle her for that championship.  AJ seems to be acting almost face-like.  Bayley says she likes AJ and doesn’t know why people think she is crazy and AJ gets really mad.  Bayley says she hopes after she beats her, she hopes they can still be friends because they get along so well and she hugs a seething AJ.

We get a NEXT WEEK video which reveals Dolph Ziggler will be at NXT.

A match graphic is displayed for next week’s Divas Championship Match of AJ Lee defending against Bayley.

Dawson and Regal tell us we have to see what happened at break, which is a clip of Emma running in and getting vengeance on Summer Rae, who beat her up to take her title match.  As this is being discussed, the music of The Shield plays over the speakers.

As Regal discusses not knowing any group to make as much of an impact as The Shield, one half of the NXT Tag Champions, Corey Graves comes out.  His championship partner, Adrian Neville is out onto the stage next, both men looking more focused than usual.  Finally and deservedly, Xavier Woods gets a star entrance for the main event.  It is awesome to see him come out serious while his dancing image dressed as a Ninja Turtle is on the screen behind him.

The Shield vs. Corey Graves, Adrian Neville & Xavier Woods

The Shield have a quick discussion and we get Seth Rollins and Corey Graves starting the match off.

Dawson points out Rollins was the first-ever NXT Champion and one of the seven NXT debuts in the calendar year leading up to Wrestlemania.

After much stalling, Graves hits a dropkick and brings Rollins to his corner, where Adrian Neville tags in.  Neville hits some more dropkicks on Rollins and brings him back to the corner, allowing Xavier Woods a chance to get in the match.

The crowd loves Woods and he comes in and hits a pretty hurricanrana on Rollins, who kicks out of a pin attempt.

Graves gets tagged back in and he works over the left arm of Seth.  Rollins breaks free and hits a chop before both men start exchanging punches.

Rollins lays some boots on Graves in the corner and gets pulled away by the ref. Graves rests up and gets Seth down.  He tries for his Lucky 13 finisher, so Ambrose and Reigns drag him out.  In response, Neville and Woods dive onto The Shield.

Woods, Neville and Graves have a quick celebration in the ring as we take a commercial break.

Back from break, Reigns is dominating Xavier Woods.  He throws him in The Shield corner as the three pick him over like vultures.

Ambrose in the ring shouting “Woods”.  He audibly yells “COME ON CREED”.  I hope there are no Consequences.

Ambrose locks up Woods, who tries hulking up, only to get smacked by Ambrose, who continues yelling “COME ON CREED”.

Woods scrambles away and tags in Corey Graves, who lays out Ambrose with a series of punches before nailing some power moves and locking in the Lucky 13.  Ambrose starts freaking out but The Shield gets in to break the holding.

Ambrose is up hobbling from the submission and sells wonderfully while also bringing Graves to The Shield corner.

Reigns comes in and Roman utilizes his power on Corey Graves.  Quickly, The Shield is back in control and Rollins is in the ring working over Corey.

Corey starts trying to punch his way out but gets a knee to the chin for his trouble.  Graves kicks out of a pin attempt by Seth, who then starts working over Corey’s arm.

Ambrose is shouting at him from the apron but not about any previous gimmicks, that I am aware of.

Reigns is back in and starts throwing more punches at the head of Graves.  Reigns starts stomping on Corey and Graves finds himself back in the corner of the WWE Tag and United States Champions.

Ambrose is back in picking over Graves and stomping him on the head.  Ambrose gets above Corey and starts mocking his teammates.  He tells Graves that he isn’t going nowhere before hitting a suplex and bringing Roman Reigns back in.

Roman throws some kicks at Corey.  Graves tries to kick free but Roman is unphased.

Corey does get up and manages to outmove all of The Shield.  He crawls to his corner and tags in Neville, who springboards into the match.

Ambrose now legal for The Shield and Neville uses his speed to take down Ambrose for the second week in a row.

Neville is up for his finisher but he eats the knees of Dean.  Dean tags in Seth Rollins who comes in and goes for a belly to back suplex.  Neville lands on his feet and tags in Xavier Woods.

Woods starts getting some crazy offense in on Rollins for a few nearfalls.

Woods yells IT’S MORPHIN TIME and hits his Honor Roll and Lost in the Woods but Roman Reigns breaks the pin up.

Neville in to stop Reigns and gives him a hurricanrana to the outside.

Ambrose tosses Woods and then Graves in at Ambrose.  Graves is disposed to the outside.

Rollins misses a Stinger Splash on Woods that had a ton of hangtime.  Woods goes to the top looking to get a superplex on Rollins.  Rollins tries to counter into a rolling powerbomb but Woods hangs onto the ropes.  Reigns hits Woods off.  Woods falls down and gets clobbered by a Roman Reigns spear to end the match.

Winner: The Shield

The crowd chants THAT WAS AWESOME as the The Shield holds their championships high.

Renee Young is backstage with Antonio Cesaro to ask him about the much-hyped upcoming Zayn-Cesaro 2 out of 3 Falls match.  Cesaro is furious to have been called a coward, calls himself the Greatest American and as he starts insulting Sami, Sami comes out of nowhere to beat on him.  Sami is pulled away and Cesaro is seen shouting ZAYN in amazing form as NXT closes for this week!
