My plan is getting absentee ballot and giving it directly to city clerk.

Also who is to say that Trump isn't going to try and do a 2nd national shutdown in October/November when it's obvious he's about to get pounced?
That sounds like he would be admitting defeat to the virus and setting up a large pile of newly unemployed people who would be ready to vote him out for their plight.
If you meant the GOP would close down tons of voting places to try and making voting a pain, then I can agree.

Last year in Wisconsin my windows were still open until Nov 2nd, so the weather should not be a major issue here.

I'm starting to think 909 and I might be right about this whole "the GOP is absolutely the Trump Party now" thing.

I really don't like Pelosi but I think she might have a point here. I don't think anyone has been able to successfully debate Trump and judging by his performances in the primary debates, I highly doubt Biden is going to be the one to be able to verbally KO that windbag.

And even if he does win, beating Trump in a verbal debate is like beating Stevie Wonder at a game of Guess Who?

We can all agree debates are meaningless, right? Like, Trump bumbled about the stage like a lost old man during the debates with Hillary and nobody cared. If you liked Trump going into the debate, you'll like him after. Same for Biden.

Kerry whooped Bush in all of the debates, Mondale beat Reagan in a debate. It really doesn't mean shit.

They've only been doing them a relatively short time in grand scheme of things. First one was in 1960 then they didn't do them again until '76. I think they're kind of important for primaries but not as much for general elections if that makes sense.

It does make sense. And I agree with Speaker Pelosi (and tekcop and King Kamala).

Not only that, but people are going to instantly be drawn to point out flaws and spin positives into negatives for the person they're opposing no matter what. When Hillary was dogwalking Trump in '16 on the debate stage, the first thing conservatives pointed out was "SHE'S NOT WEARING AN AMERICAN FLAG PIN! THE HORROR!". If that's really the top observation you took from that....

I think that was the dude who got a shitload of taxpayer money to build a big Noah's Ark replica that ended up sustaining water damage.

The only negative I can see coming out of this people still insisting that Biden isn't "able" to speak in a spontaneous debate setting. Not that I think it is going to sway anyone to go from him to Trump but it is just one more annoying thing we have to hear in the next couple of months, so part of me just wants Biden to do it so he can shut these people up.

I don't think debating Trump will prove anything but I think refusing to debate him might also give Trump some points (Biden isn't as healthy as he seems, He's scared, blah blah blah). Debates may not have been going on for very long but it's been long enough that the majority of Americans were born and raised with them as an expected part of a Presidential race. If Biden were to be the one to refuse to do it without a really good reason it might look bad.

It also sets a precedent in the future. Debates may not settle anything overall but they can (not always) be a useful tool to inform voters. I'd hesitate before giving every future candidate the ability to say "well Biden did it so I'm not going to debate either" even if it's missing the reason he didn't debate Trump.

Even in trying to give some toss up states to Trump, it's really hard to see how Biden doesn't win pretty handily. Even giving Trump Michigan and Arizona still has Biden at 278 and that's assuming Biden doesn't win a state like Ohio or Iowa.

I wish I shared everybody's unfettered optimism. I'm fairly confident that Biden will win but I think it's far from a slam dunk. I think Trump has to win just one of the three Rust Belt swing states (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin) and I honestly think Minnesota is in play for him plus I don't think Arizona is a slam dunk for Biden.

I don't trust Wisconsin voters. I think it will be close and there's a real chance WI goes for Trump again.

Ohio is in play but still likely to go Russian Red.

I think Texas and Florida are both in play. Florida more likely than TX to switch. But, right now, HQ is probably correct that they'll stick with Trump.

I remain confident that Biden will win. My prediction stands. But I do not think it's a slam dunk. I hope it'll be a mandate-type blowout but I'm not confident in that. And the possibility of this country reelecting Trump is real.

tbh I've been becoming less confident with all the ways Trump has been trying to steal the election. I still think Biden will win, but Trump has been getting away with so much dictatorial shit with the GOP fully backing it all. It wouldn't surprise me if some tide-turning plays happen in the two months between now and the election.

But I also believe strongly in Biden's ability to campaign. I think the most likely outcome is Biden wins with a margin that's close enough for Trump to drag this shit out for months, building his brand in preparation for his right wing media empire.
