Senate/House Race thread crosspost

Funny you should mention that, Snuffy. Big local political controversy this week is Maine Democratic Party putting out "Trump/Collins" signs and infuriating/confusing dumb people.

Most people think these signs are unnecessary/obvious at best but I'm in the minority that thinks it actually might not be a bad idea? Maine's still a hotbed for moderate Republicans and there are probably a lot of Biden/Collins voters (certainly enough to swing this super close election).

Firstly, Trump is definitely trying to lose. He has very clearly had enough of the job and doesn't want to work anymore.

Secondly, he will probably resign after he loses. I don't know when exactly, but he'll get tired of all the attention being on Biden and try to recapture it for himself.

Thirdly, in doing all of these things he absolutely screws over Mitch McConnell, who has been planning out their path forward from a small loss of the Senate.

All in all this election cycle couldn't be going better from where I sit. It's where he's mismanaging everything else that becomes a huge problem.

I don't know. Trump is a WWE hall of fame fighter. And his son is going on tour with a UFC star. No word yet on if the son will have his own jersey made & jump off large objects.

3 1/2 weeks before the election is a good time to focus solely on the base

Almost 31% of early voter applicants in Georgia didn't vote in 2016. Seems like another good omen for the Ds.
My recollection is in 2016 Florida had some massive uptick in early voting and the thought was it was all the Hispanics rebelling against the WALL rhetoric...and that did not pan out.

I think that translates to about a 15 million vote difference. And yes, I do think that will be the case. People talk about the Trump cult, but I've never seen a politician this universally reviled. He'll probably lose this state by around 6-7 million votes to start that off and the rest of the states will make the rest of that difference.

I got mine too and will be dropping it off Monday. As usual we have a ton of direct democracy propositions that I know jack shit about and will need to research.

Yeah see I feel like this is the best state in the country, and that the only thing really holding us back from being better is the federal government and climate change. Both of which are at this point tied together. Their regulation reversals that have hugely brought back smog in this state are a major problem. It is looking more and more like China every day. I thought that party hated China. I believe we have the best standards for expanded Medicaid (including no cost dental care), we're scaling up to a living minimum wage, we had tuition free community college being put in place before the pandemic, rich people have to actually pay their fair share here, and on top of all that we still had a budget surplus. The federal government has tried to remove all of that shit. It's pathetic.

I'm getting more confident it'll be a blowout and called by midnight or earlier.
