- Matt Drinkall is expected to leave Army (He's been there since 2019) to take the Central Michigan job.
- Tre Lamb is expected to be the new HC at Tulsa
- Tony Gibson is the new HC at Marshall after being a highly regarded DC at NC State for the past 6 seasons

In transfer portal news, QB Darian Mensah is bolting from Tulane already. "The 6-foot-3, 200-pound passer threw for 2,723 yards and 23 total touchdowns with six interceptions while leading Tulane to a nine-win season and a trip the American Athletic Conference championship game in coach Jon Sumrall's first season."

"(Micah) Hudson was a massive recruiting coup for Texas Tech. As the No. 22 overall recruit in the 2024 ESPN 300, he became the highest-ranked prospect to ever sign with the program since ESPN began ranking them in 2006." Further proof this doesn't matter when recruits are bolting into the transfer portal after 1-2 seasons.

Quarterbacks Miller Moss (USC), Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma), Conner Weigman (Texas A&M), and Kaidon Salter (Liberty) are among the signal callers who are on the move.

The story was he didn't want to. He lost his hunger for coaching.

Belichick's in the other boat where he never wanted to stop coaching, he didn't think he'd get fired and then he did.

Yeah, Walsh was a burnout factor (not unlike Dick Vermeil) whereas Belichick thought he'd be able to get multiple offers in the NFL and found himself almost frozen out. I do think age played a bit of a factor but I think his power aspect was the biggest reason he didn't land an NFL gig as Owners didn't want to give him complete control over the entire operation. Low key I think they also saw the way Kraft never really got the "credit" for the success/winning those Super Bowls and didn't want to get into that with Bill either, ego wise.

Travis Hunter WON the Heisman Trophy as expected. Was dominant on both sides of the ball (interesting to note he didn't win the Best DB Award though, despite winning the Best Defensive Player Award).

FCS Playoffs
South Dakota State steamrolled Montana State 55-14. RB Amar Johnson ran for 132.
South Dakota beat UC Davis 35-21. RB Travis Theis ran for 86 and 2 TD.
North Dakota stomped Mercer 31-7. QB Cam Miller threw for 259 and 2 TD.

Your semi-final matchups
South Dakota State @ North Dakota State at Noon/9:30 AM on ABC
South Dakota @ Montana State at 3:30 PM/12:30 PM on ABC

South Dakota State are your defending champions while Montana State remains unbeaten at 14-0.

Travis Hunter is a fraud. There is virtually no chance he plays both sides in the pros. Dude wasn't the best WR nor the best DB but the media deep-throating mediocrity because Deion kept glazing him like a Krispy Kreme donut really got him a Heisman.

- Jake Dickert is leaving Washington State to take over Wake Forest as HC.
- Michael Vick will be the new HC at Norfolk State.
- Thomas Ford who coached RB at Idaho in 2022 & 2023 is leaving Oregon State to be Idaho's new HC.
- QB Kaidon Salter is transferring to Colorado.

In HUGE News... https://footballscoop.com/news/ivy-...es-to-finally-participate-in-the-fcs-playoffs and https://www.espn.com/college-footba...-ivy-league-participate-fcs-football-playoffs

"The Ivy League has agreed to participate in the FCS Playoffs, starting with the 2025 season.

For over 80 years, the Ivy League season has ended at the conclusion of the regular season and crowned their league champion to end their year.

The Ivy League has confirmed with the NCAA that the league's winner will get an automatic bid to the FCS playoffs starting in 2025."

This is awesome to me as the Ivy League obviously has the classic CFB legacy/history but now we can see them matchup against the Idahos, Rhode Islands, Montanas, and North Dakota States of FCS in big playoff games.

Well, that was about what I honestly expected. Tennessee was good enough to make the playoff but I didn't think they'd make it past Oregon even if they beat Ohio State on the road. That was embarrassing though.

After 17 seasons with the program and amassing a 72-5 record as a head coach, Grand View head coach Joe Woodley is leaving the NAIA taking over at Drake. He had just won his 2nd National Title and finished 14-0.

They play each other next year on August 30th.

Apparently a ref got his face bloodied (you ever see that shit, 909?). But the real fun was the ECU HC calling out other colleges, ""I don't think you can look at our fans and tell them it's not a rivalry. It's an hour and 15 minutes up the road," (Blake) Harrell said. "And there's a couple of other schools about the same distance. Maybe they should put us on their schedule as well, instead of trying to take our players. They want to call our players and take our players. Well how about put us on the schedule?"

- Washington State has hired South Dakota State's Jimmy Rogers to a five-year deal as the Cougars' next head coach, the school announced Saturday. Rogers is set to make an average of $1.57 million per year, sources told ESPN.
- More impact from the JUCO ruling as former Appalachian State quarterback Joey Aguilar announced his commitment to UCLA on Saturday night, bringing the native of Antioch, California, back to his home state. Aguilar threw for 6,760 yards and 56 touchdowns in his past two years with the Mountaineers. He previously spent two seasons at Diablo Valley Community College in Northern California. The senior entered the transfer portal Tuesday, three weeks after App State fired coach Shawn Clark following a disappointing 5-6 season.

On Friday, former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and eight-time Pro Bowler DeSean Jackson was hired as the new head coach for the Delaware State Hornets.

Everyone needs to put the Rose Bowl on their bucket list. Second time I’ve been, the best place on the planet. The best sport on the planet is college football and they play it at the Rose Bowl, the Mecca of this sport, and both sets of fans bring their traditions across the country and shit for everyone to see them. NOTHING ELSE IS AS GOOD AS THIS. People say all kinds of shit about the portal and NIL killing the sport but nothing can ruin this. It’s not possible. THE TERRORISTS DID NOT WIN TODAY. And then they play a football game and one team wins and 90,000 people leave there with positive memories nobody will ever forget.

How do people think NIL ruined the sport, isn’t it good that these guys are getting paid for their drawing power?
A lot of people think that because it drives players to transfer every year for more money, that it ruined some of what made this sport work (it did not)

The only thing recent that has been a negative is constant conference realignment and that’s all at the hands of the schools not the players.

The idea that Oregon and Penn State are conference rivals is god damn disgusting no matter how much financial windfall occurs from it.

I find all the complaining about seeding and whatever to be quite amusing. The champion is no longer one of four handpicked teams. The playoff is won on the field now, not through arbitrary narratives or any of that bullshit. Winning these games is going to be hard.

- Ken Niumatalolo is promoting Billy Ray Stutzmann to receivers coach. He worked as an offensive analyst, assisting the WRs this year (notable for WR Nick Nash's performance)
- Former West Virginia running back Noel Devine is joining his alma mater's coaching staff as an offensive analyst.
- University of Washing safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri will be Charles Kelly's defensive coordinator at Jax State. There were rumblings he'd end up in North Carolina too so a big get for Jacksonville State.
- New Mexico defensive coordinator Dan Jackson, a former Jackrabbit player and assistant, has been named head coach at his alma mater.

I was looking at something before the game tonight, cause the game tonight is giving me a huge nostalgia kick. Who ever thought that we'd have a game like this return to a place where it was the most important game of the season? There are old people out there thinking tonight 'THIS IS THE KIND OF MATCHUP COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE' and they aren't totally wrong. But anyway. While I was watching some old video I was noticing the quality of the commentators we had in the 00s. That was the last time anyone got fooled into thinking Penn State was back.

Like no wonder I grew up to love this sport, NO WONDER. You could turn on any big game and it was like a god was narrating it to you. I'm not one of those people who believes in looking in the rear view mirror like this though. When you do that, sometimes you miss the things that are right in front of you. I think it's understandable to not see how important this playoff is, how big it will be in the grand scheme of things, but this season was the first time in at least 15 years that anyone gave a shit about bowl season. I think the nationwide connection forged through this playoff may have prevented college football from sliding away into its own fucked up entity. Too many people would get involved to stop it.

I'm just glad Notre Dame won. Fuck Pedo State and Drew Allar's mistakes were too costly to overcome.
