AEW 2026: Year Seven

I forget how damn jacked he is too. He has the build of an old retired MMA fighter lmao. He's gonna take out that dastardly Okada at anytime.
He’s also like 5’5 so when he walks towards you at a random event it’s like a roided angry bull manlet charging in (this happened to me, he thought I wanted to talk to him but I bulldozed straight past him)

Not to be mean though. Just to make him feel more at home.

This is interesting…

Probably not a good sign for the future of Triller. I do wonder how well this new platform will work with VPNs. If I can get all the PPVs for $120 a year (plus everything ROH), that would be pretty awesome.
Thinking more about this. Tony was asked on a media call yesterday about MyAEW being available in the US, and he was very clear that it’s for international viewers only.

I wish someone would have pressed him on it a bit more. To get everything included in the $120 per year price point for other countries, you would need about $612 in HBO Max and Honor Club subscription fees plus PPV purchases. Would love to hear his response to that.

3/11 was the first Dynamite in a month where I basically FF'd everything.

-PLEEEEEASE let Takeshita take the belt off Mox so we can end this Death Riders/Callis Family shit. Ideally in a 5-minute finishing stretch sprint so we don't have to suffer through 25 minutes of Mox pretending he knows chain wrestling.

-MJF/Fletcher promo revealed how much work Fletcher still has ahead of him. Dude's got raw talent and needs guidance.

-I'd love Bailey if I was 10 and still obsessed with Bloodsport and Street Fighter II. I appreciate Fletcher giving Bailey room to get some shine, and how they did multiple call backs to when Fletcher dumped Bailey onto the barricade, but for a guy nicknamed "Speedball" he sure is moving like he's underwater half the time. He's got a 1-2-3 Kid meets Sparkplug Holly look going on that could be ignored if his matches weren't the most generic mid-00s bullshit.

-Brody squashing bitches is always fun. Swerve really just goes through the motions half the time, though. The chain breaking spot was fun, but it felt underwhelming after Swerve just blatantly went "I'll lay this chain here and then you sell." Swerve needs to sell the attack, too. Flex your muscles to make us think you're actually choking him, make some faces, etc.

-If there was ever any more proof needed that Darby is OVER as a star for a reason? Here comes another bland tag match. Cassidy's hands in his pockets should be a taunt based on how easily he can parry and bob and weave, not just done for the sake of doing it. Finlay shows very little of the aggression that his father was known for. Kidd is solid enough, really loved the eye gouge as he kept turning away from the ref.

-Willow is solid enough, but I'm so sick and fucking tired of "LOOK HOW BRIGHT AND SILLY AND HAPPY I AM" gimmicks. They only worked for New Day (who quickly turned it into something very different), Bayley in NXT, and Kylie Rae. Persephone is alright. Decent enough match, I guess.

-Ciampa/FTR out of nowhere is a choice...but at least it makes sense for Mark Briscoe to not be particularly fond of FTR (fuuuuuck, I miss Jay so much). Young Bucks are a cancer so fuck right off.

-Holy fucking SHIIIIIIT did Hangman fumble the entire press conference. MJF has to win because he at least knows how to talk without sounding like a straight-to-video action hero. You know how bad David Schultz sounded when he was in the talk show audience and spouted off at the former wrestler that was exposing the business? That's Page in a nutshell...without the authenticity that Dr. D carried. "I PROMISE TO SHOW THE MOST EXTREME" oh piss off, you suburban hyucklefuck.

Willow is the best natural face in the company. It doesn't feel forced with her. She's got something and has gotten pretty good, too.

If they're setting up for a Gargano arrival, I'm going to laugh.

Sounds like AEW is in negotiations to return to Mexico for Grand Slam this year.

If MJF is still champ, I'd consider a MJF vs Mistico 3: Title vs Mask match on that show which could have the hottest crowd in wrestling history tbh. MJF might be an even bigger heat magnet in Mexico than America.

And, honestly if they were to do that, Mistico should win and get a short reign similar to the one Samoa Joe just had. Mistico's name on the title lineage makes it even more prestigious and MJF could get the belt back in a rematch or something down the line.

MJF Vs Mistico 3 would be huge for sure.

I was thinking after Moxley/Takeshita and how great Moxley's run in AEW has been but there was a time when people had him pegged as the least of the 3 SHIELD guys and I think he's the best of them. Roman has had a great career and as a draw he's hard to touch but Moxley has been a draw for a new company which is much harder.
In-ring as much as I enjoy Roman, Moxley has a larger and more diverse resume. Roman is kind of hurt by WWE just giving him the same people over and over. I think if he was given the chance to work elsewhere like Mox chose to do he'd also have been really great. Both are great promos but I got more from Mox's post C2 promo (for example) than any Roman promo in years.

Seth is Seth. He tries hard, god bless him.

Oh shit, Osperay is actually working on match tonight. I'm very hesitant with anyone not taking at least a year to nurse a neck injury. I thought they would take a few weeks to build to his in-ring return after showing up at Revolution and give him a little bit more time.

not that it really matters in the overall scheme of things but Claudio officially signed a dual contract with CMLL.

Probably a trade off between the promotions to get Mistico being “all elite”.

I wonder if any other AEW wrestlers will sign duel contracts with CMLL. I know Megan Bayne, Johnny TV, and JetSpeed have been in CMLL a lot lately.

Johnny especially would benefit from a duel contract because CMLL is using him in a higher profile role while serving his comedy AEW/ROH role. He had that hair vs hair match recently that I've been meaning to check out. And, the man is still very very handsome bald. He recently said in an interview that he feels like he has more to offer AEW than he has shown. I'm a Morrison fan, and I do think he can still be useful in a lot of roles, but I can't think of anyone being pushed currently I would take off tv to get time for 45 year old Johnny Nitro.

If AEW signed him in 2019-2021, I think he had a chance to be a workhorse ala PAC or OC, and get plenty of tv time. But, the roster is just a billion times better now than it was in the early days. I don't blame him for going back to WWE to tag with Miz though, because he was all over tv at that time and getting pushed.

Started watching the replay this morning before work. Ospreay/Blake was fine, usual issues with how AEW lays out matches (no fucking way should Blake have gotten so much offense in), glad to see Ospreay healthy enough and I do not want to see him back to his usual tricks because I truly believe he is better than that.

I haven't ordered a PPV in forever and I'm glad that Revolution didn't break that. The highlights I've seen didn't make me want to seek anything out except for maybe Mox/Takeshita, because Take makes Mox put on his work boots and Mox makes Take dial down the stupid FIGHTING SPIRIT~ shit that turned me off of NJPW due to its overuse. MJF/Hangman looks like the kind of match that turned me off of deathmatch shit to begin with, but at least the right guy went over (because Hangman is best as a JTTS).

Random thoughts..

The Dogs appear to be stuck in the Conglomeration vortex. Hopefully they can move on from this quickly. I'd like to see them take on that chaotic Death Riders role. I feel like DR has run its course and probably should've disbanded or had an internal feud, immediately, post Mox world title loss, IMO. I still like the fantasy booking idea that is always going around, of Claudio turning and forming his own BDK-like faction.

I don't get Tony's obsession with Darby, tbh. I mean I don't dislike Darby, I just don't find him interesting enough to be going over so often, and constantly being inserted into the World title picture. But I'm likely not the target audience for him.

Orange Cassidy, I think was at his finest and most entertaining during his International title reign. Would be cool to see him escape the random stuff he's been doing and go back to a singles title hunt/run.

That really really sucks but she could use some time away, i think. I look forward to missing her and her absence opens up a great spot for the rest of the division

The post-match attack on Ospreay was alright...but damn, Ospreay coming back and fighting PAC during the BBG's entrance was a good piece of business. I really liked how it flowed directly into Mox/Yuta jumping the BBG ahead of the match, too.

BBG vs. Death Riders was solid. It's insane how much better Mox is when he isn't a) doing lame deathmatch shit, or b) trying to show off his DeAtHjUtSu nonsense.

Kenny promo was borderline "Jumpin" Jeff Farmer bad.

Kidd/Darby was trash and I'm fucking over Darby. He was one of the most exciting faces on the roster for a while and now he's just relegated to dumb Jackass bullshit.

FF'd the Junglesaurus/YB video. Jungle Jack will always be tarnished for his shit attitude with Punk, which is a shame because there's still a solid babyface buried under the douchebaggery.

By contrast to each promo so far, the Swerve piece was fucking GOLD. He may still work like he's in a mid-10s indie, but the dude has got presence out the ass.

Speedball is a goof. FOH.

Signature moves to end the show! Bucks with superkicks! Cope with a spear! Christian with...a kick to the balls, lol.

Toni's gonna be out for the remainder of 2026 apparently. It'll be a huge blow to not just the women's division but the company as a whole as she was consistently one of its best characters. I guess it makes sense why Mine went over on Wednesday as she's essentially standing in for her in the Marina feud. Where does this leave Rousey now?

Someone is going to have to step up and I'm confident it'll be Thekla. Her against a face Mercedes will print money.

Im hoping Mina gets a nice push out of it too. She's a great underdog babyface and was losing too much recently imo

It's like when Austin went down. Good booking and a game roster will make her less absent. As long as the endgame isn't turning Mina* it's got potential to help make someone a star.

*this only works if we get some hard Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? segments where Mina mocks her in a wheelchair and shit.

Some folks are speculating that her and Juice are expecting.. and the timeline would line up, if she's out for the remainder of the year. Congrats to them if so.

Mina vs Thekla is scheduled for the title on Dynamite. Honestly have no idea who wins and Tony kind of booked himself into a corner with this one. Mina needs wins and they need top babyfaces badly with Toni out, but it would be so jarring if she goes from eating pins every week to being the champ. It's also way too early for Thekla to lose the title and she needs a few months as dominant champ imo. They should've set this for Dynasty or something or let Mina get a few more wins and then The Triangle of Madness attack her to set something up.

Have it end in a DQ or count out

Yeah that's the easy out. Just seems like a weird match to make on the fly without build and a WCW Nitro type of move.
