NBC cancelled "Chicago Justice"
Good.
I am somewhat ashamed to admit that Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med are guilty pleasures of mine. So naturally, when they announced that Chicago Justice was coming out, I was on board. Plus, they moved one of the main characters from Chicago PD over to the show, and on top of that, they put in some big time tie-ins to the original Law and Order, having the lead prosecutor on Chicago Justice be the estranged son of Ben Stone (one of the greatest TV lawyers of all time) from the first five seasons of Law and Order. Not only that, they had a couple of characters from Law and Order make guest appearances. I figured that factoring all that in, it couldn't miss.
But it did. The plots were paper thin and nonsensical - even for the Chicago franchise shows, and that's really saying something. And a couple of the characters were so awful I couldn't stick with it and gave up mid-season. Worst of all was the Assistant State's Attorney played by this terrible actress Monica Barbaro. I've never heard of her before and I hope I never hear of her again. She was so bad she ruined every scene she was in.
The problem is, those shows tend to crossover and connect a lot, so I had all of them saved on my PVR just in case of a future crossover which might feature some random Chicago Justice related storyline I didn't get. Now I will erase them. So much for Dick Wolf's plan to have a Chicago show on every night of the week.
