Not music but definitely psyched for this in September...

Snuffy, did you make it, buddy?

I didn't go, I sold my ticket after seeing the lineup for Mtn Oasis. :-\

.

I had been lead to believe that David Byrne's set was a solo set. I'm glad to hear you got to see him with St. Vincent. They make a good pair.

They were excellent, but I can't stress enough how awesome Empire of the Sun's visual show was. The people responsible have a profound and exact notion of what looks cool when someone is tripping their ass off.

What is your overall take on the Sheepdogs? I didn't figure you'd be the type of person to enjoy their music.

I'm going to a Mets/Tigers game in August. I could giver a fuck less about Baseball. I'm only going because Third Eye Blind is performing a free set afterwards!

Gonna see Big Black Delta tonight.

I saw Swans last week, which was pretty crazy. Those guys are so loud.

Also saw the Gregg Ginn/Ron Reyes Black Flag lineup. Pretty fun for a couple of 50+ year olds acting like angry teens. Ron Reyes is a pretty underrated punk vocalist.

I wanted to see St. Vincent and David Byrne but tickets were pretty steep, and going to New Jersey for it did not appeal to me. Missed out when they came to NYC.

They're a good mix of southern rock and graybeard blues rock without being cartoonish rednecks or really sleepy old dudes. I don't know their material or anything, but they had a terrific set.

Swans were killer as well. I watched them while my wife watched Edward Sharpe, and the Swans crowd gradually were more and more scared or hearing damaged, and gradually tapped out. I was nearly front and center by the end of it.

I wish I would've got a pic of the facial expression these woo girls gave for the 30 seconds they wandered by to watch before their swift egress.

Yeah, I was right at the stage for Swans. It was so loud, it almost hurt. Hard to describe. I'd like to experience that again. Hurricane Sandy prevented me from seeing them in the fall.

I saw them open for The Rolling Stones in 98. They put on a good show.

So there was a Bieber concert here tonight (well last night technically). We found out about it while driving past the arena. As you can imagine, traffic was a bitch.

If the dueling tours of also ran, middle of the pack '90s rock bands isn't enough for you, there's also the "Big Night Out" tour starring also ran, middle of the pack early '00s rock bands; HOOBASTANK, Fuel, Alien Ant Farm, and Lit (who is really more of a '90s band though).

To add to the Andrew WK discussion in here, he's opening for Black Sabbath this summer, so I'll be seeing him for the fourth time on August 4th. It'll be weird to be able to sit down during his set, and to watch him perform in front of a crowd that largely doesn't know or care about him. But at least it'll be a good double bill because I was worried the opener would be Hollywood Undead or something.

Just found out this will be Andrew spinning a special DJ set, because a DJ opening for Sabbath makes perfect sense. I guess two bands I like on the same bill was just too good to be true. :(

Saw Counting Crows and the Wallflowers last night. It was a fun but man, I really do dislike seated/arena shows. I always wanna get up and start moving to the music and the setting isn't as intimate.

Jakob Dylan seemed pretty bored onstage to say the least and the crowd seemingly agreed with him but I'll attribute that to the fact that he didn't seem too thrilled to be opening for someone else. The son of Bob Dylan doesn't open up for nobody!

Jimmy Eat World killed it tonight. Very fun show. Missed UFC 162 and my cousin's wedding for this.

Seeing Danzig next month. It's the 25th anniversary of his band's first album. He will be accompanied by Doyle of Misfits fame.

Progpower USA is in Atlanta this weekend. I'd killto see Circus Maximus. Ashes of Ares, Heaven's Cry, Soilwork and many others are also playing. Rhapsody played the kickoff last night.

Seeing AFI on Friday. And at the end of the month taking the fiance to see 3 Doors Down out of town. I'm alright with them, but they're her favorite band.

I've seen them once already with the old lady. I liked them when they hit, but don't listen anymore. They do put on a high energy show, and while it's still not my thing I had a good time.

I saw AFI before they were goth-Emo back when they opened for The Offspring on the Ixnay on the Hombre tour with L7. They were pretty decent from what I remember. I can't say about how they are now, though.

Since '90s nostalgia tours have come up so much in this thread---tomorrow night, I'm seeing the opening date of the Soul Asylum/Fountains of Wayne tour. Evan Dando is opening most of the dates but we ended up getting Freedy Johnston.

Got to see that tour of the Hoobastank, Fuel and Alien Ant Farm tour together a month or so ago now. Was surprisingly a good time and Alien Ant Farm has a good time with themselves.

Hanging out in the parking lot playing wiffleball with Hoobastank was more fun for me than the show though. Had not played wiffle in years.

Fountains of Wayne/Soul Asylum was a pretty good show. I was really surprised Soul Asylum played first since there were definitely way more people there for them and they were a much bigger band in their heyday. Even the singer of FoW seemed kind of confused about the sequencing but I guess they're alternating who plays last every other show. I was pretty impressed that Dave Pirner has the exact same haircut he did in '93. If I knew nothing about either band, I'd say they were the slightly better band of the night but I'm a huge FoW fan and I loved that a good 75-80% of their setlist was stuff from their first three albums.

Show was really poorly attended. It was maybe a quarter full when Soul Asylum played and maybe a tenth full when Fountains of Wayne played. And it was only a 750 seat club.

Saw Here Come The Mummies tonight. They were absolutely fantastic! You HAVE to go see them if you have an opportunity to do so.
