Concerts coming to your area: Good and Bad

I'd give Alien Ant Farm a shot.

Tickets are only $9.43 so I guess it's an anniversary concert for the alt rock station (which has the station number 94.3...so clever) which is low enough for me to mildly consider going and getting hammered since what the hell else am I going to do on a Tuesday night in mid January?

I sure as hell wouldn't pay $94.30 to see Alien Ant Farm in concert even in their prime!

Alien Ant Farm was the first concert I ever attended back in '02. They headlined the Snocore 2002 tour with Adema. 15-year-old me had a great time.

I got an email for a very strange show. Coal Chamber and Filter. Talk about a styles clash.

That could be a fun show. Too bad Richard Patrick's voice is completely shot.

Not exactly the right thread for this, but I saw Patton Oswalt two weeks ago. Dude is fucking hilarious. He has a really quick wit bantering with the crowd, too.

After some struggle this morning, I got tickets to see Faith No More in May. I saw them on my birthday back in 2010 and they rocked. I'm seeing them in a much better venue this time so I hope it'll be a good time.

I keep forgetting that even though Live Nation says the show is sold out, doesn't necessarily mean it is and that if you keep refreshing the page, you're still able to buy tickets.

I missed out on seeing Patton when he was Boston but I'm seeing a ton of stand up shows this year. This little 150 seat folk/bluegrass/old people music venue in Portland has randomly started adding a bunch of stand up shows to the calendar in the last three or four months. I'm seeing Nick Thune & Ben Kronberg next Wednesday, Wyatt Cenac later in February, Todd Barry in April, and Cameron Esposito in June. It's really cool because I've been wanting a mid-level venue for stand ups, that are too big for the rooms that ham & eggers like me perform at but not big enough for one of the 2,000 seat theaters/auditoriums in town.

I'm also seeing Hannibal Buress at one of said 2,000 seat theaters. My sixth time seeing him. It's cool cause when I started following him five years ago, he was playing small 100 seat rock clubs himself. Now he's inadvertently starting massive scandals involving comedy legends!

Just scored tickets to Faith No More for their show in May. Not the greatest tickets (thanks Ticketmaster and your janky ass website) but I'm just stoked as fuck to finally see them live!

Haha, yeah, it really got his star ascending while tarnishing Cosby's. Good for him, though, because even though that info was supposedly out there, I had no idea.

I don't have any more stand up lined up for this year, but I do enjoy going to those shows. The only other comedians I've seen live are Lewis Black and Jim Gaffigan. My regret is that I never got to see George Carlin. I'd love to see Louie C.K.

All things considered, there are several concerts coming to the Augusta, GA area over the next few months. A lot of these aren't really my thing but it's something at least.

2-15: Heart
3-10: Elton John
3-27: Alan Jackson
4-27: Paramore
6-20: John Mellencamp

Heart is going to be playing a post game concert at Citi Field this season.

I'd go see Mellencamp. I like his stuff. Elton John I'd see just to say I saw him live.

I just got offered free tickets to Billy Ocean next month. I don't know why or if I should go. Please convince me one way or another.

Steely Dan and Elvis Costello & The Impostors are touring together this summer. They're in Boston on July 30th & 31st. Fuck yes. Dad Rock Tour of a Lifetime. Psyched to go.

Also gonna see Mike Love's Beach Boys on the Maine Street Pier in August because eh, why not? It's $20 and I can get drunk.

Def Leppard, Styx and Tesla are playing 45 minutes from my house this summer. Not sure if I'm going to go, but don't think I wouldn't!

Third Eye Blind and Dashboard Confessional are touring together. I saw Third Eye Blind in 98 when they opened for the Rolling Stones. Tempting show

I saw them in 97 headlining a show that was opened by Eve 6 and Our Lady Peace. FWIW, they put on a good show.

Groupon just sent me a notice for discount tickets for a bunch of shows coming throughout the next few months.

I never really do concerts but thinking there is a pretty sweet deal on a show with both Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire that I think I am going to buy some tickets as a gift for my parents.

They announced the line-up for Summerland 2015: Everclear, Toadies, Fuel, and American Hi-Fi.

I'm not saying I will go but I'm not saying I won't either!

Van Halen is coming to Bangor this July.

It's funny. I heard a clip from their new live album this afternoon on the local classic rock station and I was like "Damn. David Lee Roth sounds like an old woman now. I don't know why anyone would want to see these guys now." Then they just announced they're coming to Maine and now I'm strongly considering going.

I love Toadies. The others not so much, so it wouldn't be worth it for me to go, but Toadies are awesome.

I only have Rubberneck and Hell Below (and the '00s Feeler release). Is their newer stuff any good?
