I think that retort is very over the top and extremely disruptive of the whole "movement" because it paints her as a spoiled brat. But Ashleigh Banfield was way out of line on HLN. I was seriously disappointed because, even if you don't agree with what "Grace" said, you have to allow her the chance to say it especially given that not even Aziz argues with the facts of the story. You can disagree with whether or not it was assault and still be respectful. For instance, everyone in this thread has differing opinions but no one is ripping the girl apart. Ashleigh Banfield totally did and that is completely wrong and if I was the girl that wrote the story I also wouldn't want to go be crucified on her show. And to top it off Banfield wasn't even correct with some of her criticisms. She kept painting "Grace" as someone trying to get their story in the news out of revenge because of a "bad date" when the Babe (what a shit name btw) reporter herself says that they went to "Grace" to ask her to tell her story, not the other way around.

I don't know if Dan Schneider is actually guilty of sexual impropriety, but the only reason it's an "open secret" is because a poster called "Himmmm" on the gossip blog Crazy Days and Nights accused him of such crimes several years ago while also hinting that he was Robert Downey Jr. (Which RDJ denied.) There's some internet chatter alleging that he's the father of Jamie Lynn Spears' baby and that he's why Amanda Bynes went crazy, but no actual specific allegations. However, I did a see a Twitter thread a few months back detailing all the creepy shit he puts in his Nickelodeon shows, and also he worked with this guy at one time. So that doesn't look good.

I get that it's tough when a friend is accused. Totally get it. But you can just say nothing. Privately calling a close friend accused of a crime you believe (but have no way of KNOWING) is innocent and saying "hey man you have my support" is acceptable. Attacking the victim is not.

I do find it strange that Hollywood was totally ready to throw Harvey out the window but they will die on the hill defending Woody Allen and Roman Polanski. The biggest difference is that the accusers of those two are underage so I guess that's more acceptable?

What's so creepy about what Tarantino said is the young age of the victim. 13 is usually an 8th grader. Go to a middle school event and look what that looks like. There isn't any defending it even if you don't believe any of the plying her with drugs/alcohol stuff.

This isn't some director having consensual sex with their 17-year-old star. Not saying that's right, but you could at least see how it's a mistake someone could make. And maybe they don't deserve to be thrown in prison.

1. When Tarantino made those comments, information wasn't as easily publicly accessible.

2. This was also before Polanski was given his Oscar, when a large portion of Hollywood signed a petition in his favor and subsequently gave him a standing ovation. The things Tarantino said in 2003 would actually be quite common at the time.
