So I read a “per sources” tweet of something that looked like it was typed on Notes that said the girl from the DR was his girlfriend when she was 13 and he was 17, and her family approved of the relationship. Then he ended the relationship prior to turning 18, and refused to see her again until she was 18. She now has a 2-year-old that is not Franco’s.

If accurate, that’s probably the most significant banishment of an on-field talent in terms of player quality since Joe Jackson.
I would suggest fellow scumbag Pete Rose should be considered in a similar light although you are clearly distinguishing with active players and not managerial/staff positions.

This is Reinsdorf trying to shake Chicago down for a new, free stadium. Chicago's letting the Bears move to Arlington. They aren't going to bend over backwards for the White Sox. They average 10k less fans a game than the Cubs, with way cheaper tickets. They're 25th in total attendance. The stadium isn't the issue. That team is so abysmal to watch, they'll lose their luster real quick in any other suburb or city. Reinsdorf is pretty hated in Chicago for his mismanagement of the White Sox and The Bulls. Even when the White Sox accidentally assemble a decent roster, Reinsdorf sticks them with a 75 year old man as their head coach. Hopefully this will drum up even more support locally for him to sell the team.

Funny thing I read that Idk if it’s true or not is that he still owes them money on Guaranteed Rate Field. Which opened in 1991!!!

It amazes me how often MLB owners go to this tactic. To the point where the Reinsdorf White Sox already threatened to move to Tampa Bay before the new Comiskey Park was built. Chicago's too good a market. If Reinsdorf followed through the TB Rays or some other team would jump at the opportunity.

Truist Park definitely set a bad precedent. Although I guess replacing not particularly old and perfectly adequate stadiums to fatten the team owners’ wallet isn’t exactly a new problem.

The new grift is getting real estate around the ballpark and leasing that out as well. Instead of local establishments giving the area flavor you get a “ballpark village” and all those revenues get to flow to the team.

That's what made the MLB owners (mildly) dislike about John Fisher. He passed up the forty something acre site for the Las Vegas Ballpark and went with a nine acre park (which doesn't even seem like it'd be enough acreage for an MLB stadium).

If the A's lose tonight (or the Astros or Rangers win) they are mathematically eliminated from the AL West race. If the A's lose and the Mariners win, the A's are eliminated from the wild card race as well.
