I feel like his career trajectory could've been way different and way better if he jumped back to WWF in 1996 and restarted Demolition. Also would have helped the crappy mid-late '90s tag team division. Demolition Vs Owen Hart & British Bulldog or Demolition Vs Furnas & Lafon would've rocked. Also would've gotten mulligan on Demolition-LOD and maybe somewhere down the line...MINISTRY DEMOLITION!

Way better than last two years of his WCW run. Bill Eadie would've been fuckin' livid though and we might've gotten some dumb BS like Smash & Crush being in HOF but not Ax so maybe things are best the way they are..

I think Ax's health was better by 1996 so it could've been Demolition Classic.

I even like his Russian character. He never even tried for a fake accent & it makes those old promos even better/funnier.

He was a turncoat. He was Crusher Darsow in the mid-south and IIRC, Volkoff got him to turn commie.

Oddly, footage came up recently of Darsow working a Mongol in a team as a rookie(ish), which makes his partnership with Mongol Bill Eadie make sense on a whole other level.

I believe Boris Zuhkov and Jim Nelson were supposed to be 2 different guys. The Briscos injured Nelson in JCP and he showed up in Alabama or somesuch as a Russian. I feel that got retconned in Mid-South briefly as IIRC Volkoff exposed Boris as being Jim Nelson. Then he was just a Russian again for Verne.

I think Ax is one of the last people who is on the "never fucking again!" list RE: Working with WWE with Superstar Billy Graham now that Warrior & Bruno have reconciled with Vince (then died). I think there's very justifiable, very bitter feelings RE: How his WWF run (and IIRC, he was promised a road agent for life job once his health went south) ended and the lawsuits throughout the '90s. There's a reason that Demolition still isn't in the Hall of Fame.

He was an NWA/JCP/WCW geek, right? He was one of those idiots who thought they were just a Road Warriors knockoff.

I'm guessing (or maybe just hoping) that in the next 5-10 years that WWE realizes the Demos won't be alive forever (as much as we hope Darsow is immortal) and will let them enjoy their deserved place in WWE's stupid Hall of Fame.

I hadn't heard of him before WCW Deep Cuts posted those gifs a week or so back. And it takes a lot for a late '90s WCW jobber to be so obscure I haven't heard of him. For a minute, I thought "Wait. Was that RVD's post WCW/pre ECW tag team partner on the indies?" but that was Bobby Bradley! Who is a different guy than '80s/early '90s WWF undercard guy Bob Bradley (AKA BattleKat!)

He changed his name to the Dragon Kid and became one of the Dragon Gate mainstays. Not as overtly great as the top tier (CIMA, Shingo, YAMATO, Yoshino, BxB Hulk), but a solid uppercard guy who could do some great stuff in tag matches.
