They were going about him being a grunge rocker in the wrong way. Kinda wish he stuck with that angle in ECW, but damned if I didn't love the program with Dreamer all over Louie tossing up the Kliq sign.

I vividly remember seeing that version of Spicolli against the debuting Marty Jannetty on one of the b-shows. Ugly little guy yelling about how he was an innovator, looking like a goof. Then they had a pretty rockin' little match. I didn't know it was Rad Radford for way too long.

Vince's interpretation of music was/is really weird. I think Rad and Man Mountain Rock actually were around at the same time. As a kid I liked Rad because he felt like he had an identity that wasn't just an occupation. Had a good spinebuster, if I remember right.

Oh man I can't remember the exact Pulp Fiction but I think it was after Beulah was injured or something and Louie is acting all somber and then quickly flashes the kliq signal with a shit eating grin saying "just saying hi to Shawn and Hunter!" or something like that. Fantastic.

I remember this promo. The ECW roster was giving their opinion on RVD showing up on Raw in '97 and Spicoli says "RVD, if you ever go back to WWE....say hi to Hunter and Shawn for me LOL".

Dreamer beating the shit out of Louie, leaving him lying in a broken heap in the dead center of the ring, and then Louie throwing up the Kliq sign just to piss him off even more... **chef's kiss**

Oliver Platt's actually put over Ready to Rumble as one of most fun working experiences in his career. He should do a segment with R-Truth and win the 24/7 Title. There's enough nostalgia for dumb shit '00s comedies for it to work, dammit.

Greg Valentine post of the day (although most of the focus is on the klutzy roided up jobber's bad selling)

And if you don't think 8/9 year old King Kamala loved The Hammer showing up on WCW C shows as a grizzled veteran babyface, you got rocks in your head. He even get a random WCW World title shot against The Giant in July or August of '96, replacing Arn Anderson after Enforcer got beat down by NWO. I didn't see that until I got the Network tho. Idk if 8 year old me would've been able to handle such excitement.

Valentine was definitely one of the guys to point to when we wanted to make fun of WCW reheating the WWF's left overs.
Did he and Flair work a random 8 man vs one another in 4H era of Nitro? I seem to recall that being a thing.

--
My buddies and I watched the main event of Uncensored 97 this morning. I guess I had no idea they turned the 4 vs 4 vs 4 match into a quasi Royal Rumble match where we only had a handful of guys in at a time. Plus it had an AWFUL finish with Nash mugging the ref so Savage could hit Luger with a spray can and KO him. Tony screamed he was sprayed in the eyes! which killed the finish more as my buddies thought Luger was selling a KO via paint.
The live crowd was dead, and we agreed the match kind of stunk. Sting showed up in one of the more famous WCW moments and wiped the NWO out. My buddies just made fun of the heels for running 1 by 1 into a man wielding a bat.

Regarding the final Nitro 20 years ago today, I was at Panama City Beach and stayed at the same hotel with the wrestlers. I actually won the first Spring Breakout Mr. Nitro contest of the week (great story), and would have been on the show (pre-taped clip, IIRC) with the other winners. I had to get back for classes at Marshall though, and missed out. I still have the belt though, and lots of stories of wrestler interaction.

I was in Panama City Beach the week BEFORE the final Nitro. I won nothing and remember very little about the whole ordeal except for creepers in the "under 21" section of Club La Vela, watching a drunk face plant by the entrance of that club, and that I angered a military recruiter for insinuating she used to be a man, much to the amusement of the much larger male recruiter behind her that could have easily murdered me.

None of those are me or anyone that was there with me. This was right after (if my memory serves) Kanyon had left hanging out with us. He suplexed one guy (not with us) where we were, because the guy asked him to do so. Our room was on the ground floor walking out to the pool on the beach side. This is on the parking lot side and possibly even the next building down. BBR had four individual buildings.

I ran into Kanyon the next day and he was telling me about suplexing a bunch of dudes on the pavement while everyone was hammered. He was a cool dude.

I talked to him at WM19 Axxess and he remembered it. He didn’t remember me in particular or anything, just the experience of hanging out and drinking with fans and hitting moves on some.

Hoping this leads to a video of @King Kamala getting strapped in the Figure Four by Greg Valentine somewhere outside of the Carthage, Maine Comedy Festival. Hopefully this is when masks are no longer required so we can appreciate the sell more.
