I think Foley talked about that in his first book, how he prided himself on cutting elaborate and cerebral promos and how those kinds were seen as the cream of the crop (name-dropping Jake Roberts, IIRC), but then the Attitude era made it all about catchphrases even if the promo itself served no purpose.I'm glad i"m not the only that noticed that about the rock burying people. He's not HHH obviously but one of the problems I"ve always had with his promos was that they just seemed like high school putdowns that don't really get a story over. So many guys had their momentum halted because of him, and frankly even at his peak a lot of those insult promos weren't good imo.
OSW Review just bashed on the Wolfpac for their catchphrase-only "promo" on the Nitro debut of Warrior, to circle back around.
