There's a good chance I'll be getting this game later on today as I'm going to call SI and find out if they've sent out the game yet so I could at least receive it by Friday. If that's not possible, I'm cancelling and picking it up at Gamestop, so you guys could count me in for the next few games (and of course find me on LIVE to throw down for a game or two).

In case you guys haven't noticed, I went ahead and got the game and joined the league. Blanked out the Rams 24-0 as the Seahawks, who have the worst offensive line I've ever played in any Madden game, ever. My defense is pretty darn good though, as you can see.

I got clobbered, 28-7. I made a bonehead decision early on to pass on third and goal, which was picked. I wasn't the same from then on (despite my defence having a pick of their own, and a three-and-out, all in the first quarter). I was fairly drunk at the time, but it can't all be blamed on that. Still, looming sobriety and a strong fourth quarter have my excited for this week.

I was briefly considering switching to another team when I saw that you can't do ANYTHING with your roster. No cuts, free agent signings, or contract restructuring, just trades. Damn. I almost played as the Lions just for the challenge of going worst to first.

You should be able to cut people. I've seen people do it in other franchises, and I didn't disable it. Free agency will have to be regulated, though.

Player management, pick the player and you can cut them.
And go to Free Agents in the same menu and you can sign free agents...Broward got most of the good ones, but I stole Graham Harrell for my #2 so I could cut McCown.

Another league I'm in set up a points based thing to make up for no salary cap. It's based on player ratings, so like a 99 overall QB is worth 14 points, which is more than any other player. It differs by position. It may sound confusing but I'll post it so you guys can take a look and see if you want to use it here. It's basically just a way to make up for the fact that the game has no cap AND no contracts, meaning that players can stay on a team forever, so everyone will be stacked with 90+ players after a couple of seasons. If it sounds too complicated, we don't have to do it, but I'll post it anyway.

I don't know about that salary cap thing. We do need a way to keep our teams in check, but that does sound a bit complicated and let's be honest, it's nice to be able to keep a good amount of players for as long as we want them for.
I could see a better system working out like our TSM Keeper Leagues where we could have a specified amount of keepers that are above a certain rating or whatever and every offseason we have to dump a few players. That could be equivalent to a salary cap for us, and a lot easier to manage since we all check this board anyways.

TSM Madden NFL 10 League- LEAGUE IS NOW LIVE!!!
My interforum schedule is pretty cushy. 4/5 are at home, and all of them are against weak teams (though this could indeed be affected by strong players). Carolina's maybe the most overrated team in the game, the Falcons have no run defense (the one game that I beat Broward in), Seattle is Seattle. Green Bay and Oakland are worrisome, because Green Bay is @ Green Bay in November (THE FROZEN TUNDRA), and Oakland is Bizarro-Carolina, the most underrated team in the game. They may not have particularly skilled players (barring Asomugha, Kirk Morrison, Thomas Howard, etc), but they're top 5 in team speed, and that's brutal in this game.

By the way, Roy Williams is on the block in an attempt to bolster my secondary, or my defensive line. I'm pretty content with my safeties, so cornerbacks, defensive ends, and maybe defensive tackle if I want to convert Jay Ratliff to 3-4 DE. I'll experiment in offline with it.

TSM Madden NFL 10 League- LEAGUE IS NOW LIVE!!!
We tried playing it the other night. I honestly have no clue WTF happened. He went for it on a 4th down and I stopped him, although he said earlier in the thread that it didn't show 4th down for him. It did for me though, so I don't know what happened there. Then I got the ball, picked my play but then it was like, stuck in a cutscene between the play call screen and the actual play happening. I tried calling a timeout, pressing start, etc. Nothing really worked. Then it said that Chris left the session, so it must have been something with one of our connections. I've never seen that before. He went offline after that and I haven't seen him online in a couple of days.
