Damn. He was awful last year too... simply an issue of age finally catching up with him? Houston's ballpark is pretty league average but that's a steep fall off.
I remember when he came up for the Sox, the radio channels were always speculating about how old he really was. There were rumors that he was older than he let on.

Honestly, the White Sox should just bring him back.

Real bad day for the Dodgers as Mookie Betts has a broken hand after being hit by a pitch against the Royals and Yamamoto is headed to the IL with tightness in his pitching arm.

For some reason the Cubs left Imanaga in the game today against the Mets despite clearly having nothing. He ended up giving up 10(!) ER and his era jumped over a full run. Don't get that for a guy on a way to the Cy Young maybe

I know managers have taken a step back in importance in MLB, but Craig Counsell hasn't been very impressive so far. For a supposed master of managing pitching and bullpen, he's been very bad with either pulling pitchers too fast or leaving them to die a slow death. He has only been slightly better than David Ross so far, and that's a big disappointment. The Brewers haven't seemed to miss a step without him, and the Cubs gave him the biggest contract to a manager ever, so he hopefully has a better second half.

I'm going to save BL's post and swap out a few words for whoever hires Alex Cora next season.

Although, hey, the Red Sox are still in the Wild Card hunt. I feel like this is every June since 2021. "Hey. The Red Sox aren't that bad." (July and August happen) "Nvm".

Edwin Diaz was just tossed for having a foreign substance on his hand/glove. Believe that is an automatic 10 game suspension. What a shitshow the Mets are

The only thing going for us is that until proven otherwise, Seattle and Texas don't know how to hold onto a division lead. Yes, I know the Rangers eventually won the World Series, but they did choke away the division on the last day to us last year.

I saw a stat last night that without Abreu on the team, the Astros are 21-12.

This is our last "real" push with the current lineup. Bregman is gone in the off-season, I'm assuming Verlander might choose to opt-out. Still haven't made progress with Tucker...

Last night was probably funnest Red Sox game since 2021, erasing a 4 run deficit and Jaren Duran winning it with a walk off single . All with the 2024 Celtics and the Larry O’Brien trophy in the house. They have won 10 out of their last 12 now. Maybe they are actually good?

Idk if we have any Blue Jays fans left here but wooooof. I remember seeing their AA affiliate the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2018 and thinking the Blue Jays could be the team of the 2020s. Good news for Toronto fans is there is still five and a half years to make that happen but it certainly doesn’t seem like it’ll be the case with the current squad!

I expected Blue Jays-White Sox to be the AL teams of the 2020s. We can’t all be the Braves apparently ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’d never be all in on the White Sox being a team of the future until Jerry Reinsdorf has shuffled off this mortal coil.

Interesting sports facts thread crosspost: 2020-21 is the only time thus far that they had made the postseason in consecutive seasons in franchise history.

His son has been running the Bulls pretty much, and seems just as bad. I don't see the Reinsdorf's selling either team after Jerry has passed, but I hope I'm wrong.

Mets reliever Drew Smith likely needs Tommy John surgery. Not surprising given his over use the last 3 years or so.

Yet another horrible extra inning loss at home this season for the .Mets. I think that makes about half a dozen so far

Since May 1, the only teams worse than The Cubs have been The White Sox and The A's. Just a dumpster fire of a season and I don't think there's any fix. Seems like they are going to be sellers now, and The Yankees are interested in Bellinger.

The Cubs bringing back the same roster (Aside from swapping Marcus Stroman for Shota Imanaga and adding Michael Busch) after missing the playoffs was a disastrous decision from Jed Hoyer. He should be fired as fast as possible, but I think Ricketts gives him one more year. His contract is up in 2025.

Yet the Reds can’t stop swapping with the Cubs for the bottom of the cellar, so that tells me everything I need to know about the aimless state of the Reds.

Elly is cool tho so that’s good enough
