Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

Supposedly Kesha's "Die Young" was pulled off the air....in the interest of good music? Nope, it's because the phrase "Die Young" can't be tolerated right now.

Attention everyone, we're all safe now, Kesha has been pulled from the airwaves!

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

I know every body hates Alex Jones stuff I share, but he was on mainstream TV last night on Piers Morgan...HOLY COW. Alex Jones on Piers Morgan was one of the greatest things ever. Alex started off cutting Morgan and SCREAMING about gun stats and government take over. Piers tries "debating" but Alex SCREAMS for 10 mins about NWO and Illuminati taking over, 9/11 was done by our government.. Then he starts mocking Piers accent and carries on with it for 4-5 mins while still ranting about guns and how Piers is a redcoat and he should fight Alex with fists NOW. Piers finally looks PISSED and they cut to commercial as Alex still SCREAMS. Jones did not help his cause but this was FABULOUS must see stuff.

Alex Jones vs. Piers Morgan Pt-1: '1776 Will Commence Against If You Try To Take Our Firearms'

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

I really don't understand how Alex Jones has a radio show. Bad enough that he's batshit crazy and a bald-faced liar (check out his December 1999 broadcast about the end of the world which was happening), but the guy has a fucking horrible voice. After 10 minutes of listening to him, all I hear is a constant droning.

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

I was listening to the radio today and the host made a pretty good point about all these gun nuts being basically full of shit about the whole "When we are faced with Tyranny, we are going to take to the streets and defend the constitution"

Considering all the attacks on the constitution that could be argued that have taken place over the past 10 years or so when it comes to things such as the Patriot Act, Warrent-less Wire Tappings, suspension of Habeus Corpus, etc etc etc.....you basically heard nothing from any of these folks about "the streets running red in order to restore order" However, the minute someone suggests registering their gun, suddenly "I can't take this oppression anymore, time to start shooting"

Instead, all this new found anger over "Tyranny" "Oppression" "Dictatorship" etc etc etc....seems to coincide with the same thing most of the other angry white male bullshit does.....a black president. Obama-derangement syndrome.

Now, even as an Obama supporter myself, I can't claim he hasn't continued and signed off on some programs that made me uneasy before, but most of these 2nd Amendment folks somehow couldn't find the time to make angry youtube rants over any of this until Mr. Blacky said he wanted to take gun crime seriously.

These people are frauds who watched a few too many Rambo films.

Well at least under Clinton he actually signed into law an Assault Weapons ban, leading to the paranoia.

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

(CNN) -- A teenage boy faces murder and other charges in the shooting deaths of a man, a woman and three children in a home on the outskirts of Albuquerque, New Mexico, authorities said Sunday.

Investigators were still combing over the home on the southwestern edge of the city where investigators found the victims Saturday night, said Deputy Aaron Williamson, a spokesman for the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department. It was unclear whether the teenager now in custody is related to the victims, nor would Williamson disclose whether the victims -- who included two boys and a girl -- were related.

Williamson said each victim had been shot multiple times. Several guns were found inside the home, including a "military-style" rifle he said had been used in the crime.

The teen is being charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death, the sheriff's department said. He was arrested after being questioned at the sheriff's office and is likely to be arraigned on Tuesday, Williamson said.

Neither the victims' nor the suspect's identities had been released Sunday afternoon.

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

They finally caught him, thank fuck. This is most certainly going to ratchet up the debate on peoples right to privacy and at what point the police should be intervening when there are obvious red flags that somebody is going to act out violently. By all accounts this guy was a ticking time bomb and the police knew absolutely nothing about him.

This is not to say that a police intervention prior to the shooting would have made a difference. The UCSB shooter was questioned by police about his YouTube videos, was cleared and still did it.

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/06/13/cnn-cuts-school-shootings-since-newtown-from-74-to-15-to-appease-gun-advocates/

The piece went on to question Everytown’s definition of what constitutes a school shooting. The gun safety group included in its figures any incident in which “a firearm was discharged inside a school building or on school or campus grounds, as documented in publicly reported news accounts. This includes assaults, homicides, suicides, and accidental shootings.”

The CNN piece disagreed with this methodology, stating that, by its definition, a school shooting is only when “a minor or adult actively shooting inside or near a school.” CNN said that the gun safety group should not include “personal arguments, accidents and alleged gang activities and drug deals” in its numbers, which would drop the number of school shootings from approximately one per week since Newtown to one every five weeks.

The media watchdog group Media Matters said that CNN’s about-face on the numbers was the result of a campaign by conservatives to discredit Everytown and other gun safety advocates.

Gun violence in schools is gun violence in schools. The entire point is that there are fucking guns going off in schools and that shouldn't be happening. Caving in to conservatives is just pathetic.

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

Well there are some places in Africa where they butcher those just trying to get a basic education but lol that's too be expected so it's never really mentioned.

It's weird how the first school shootings that happened once America stepped out of the frontier days never get counted because adults did it and one of them was done by a crazy lady who snapped and started picking off kids in front of the school from her living room and bedroom windows.

To think there's a network having set requirements on what constitutes a school shooting like that is disgusting.

Re: Massacres that don't warrant a thread

Thanks for the long list, but it's awfully spotty. I guess I should've qualified further, I really meant just school shootings, not massacres in general. That list is counting stuff like terrorist attacks, but only some terrorist attacks, and is notably silent about Asia and South America where surely SOME of this shit has happened at some point.

Getting accurate reporting and statistics for Africa and South Asia isn't exactly easy.
