Loaded card. They've got Jonah vs. PCO and Gangrel vs. Kevin Thorn.

As far as Bubba Ray, I'm looking through Observers and not seeing any buzz on him. I have the same impression as Super Leather on Bubba's standing at the time and the idea that he could draw against Lawler in that spot in '95 seems like lunacy.

tbf, NO ONE was drawing in Memphis in 1995. I'm not saying it would've been a draw or even good, it just seems like Bully would have been the type of guy that Lawler would have loved to work with.

I'm mildly surprised Bully Ray didn't do a Memphis run in his early days? It seems like he would have been a tailor made Lawler opponent of the month.

Weirdly, I would have really liked to see a Lawler/Bully match in the late '90s or early 2010s? But post heart attack Lawler Vs MAGA Troll Bully Ray? No thank you.
By 1992 you pretty much had to live in the USWA district to even want to work for them, minus the WWF guys making bonus shots to try and make some side cash as business cratered in the mid 90s.

Jarrett had money,(he built a giant mansion on a big piece of land, which is when Corny figured out why everyone was making peanuts) but he sure wasn't looking to spend any on his wrestling show after 1990ish or so.
Without checking my notes, I seem to recall he even tried to sell WCW his syndication package once he realized the ESPN deal wasn't going to make him anymore $$$.
1995's "Memphis Memories" card full of old guys gave the USWA their 1st real decent house in years, and they ran at least one more nostalgia card to milk the gates, but overall the USWA was in hospice from at least 1992 until it imploded in 96(?) when Lawler "sold" his shares and ended up in lawsuits.
You can look at SMW and see a similar model, as Corny had little funds for outside stars, so after a few years of the RnR Express and Armstrongs doing okay at best business, Corny was in the red, Rubin was losing interest in giving away money and the promotion folded.

--
I'm actually far more surprised Cactus Jack never made a USWA run as he was EVERYWHERE it seemed between leaving WCW in Sept 94 and signing with Vince in late 95.

His first appearance was actually in one of those Ferris Bueller Raven sketches as "neighbor James," IIRC.

Iirc Hogan saw those vignettes and told Bischoff they were the worst things he had ever seen and they were dropped. I think it was building to a Raven/Piper feud.

Chastity also debuted in those vignettes as Raven's sister

I mean, they were awful, and almost completely ruined the mystique of the Raven character, but they were also far more in line with how Scott Levy the person actually behaves.

You mean Rude, had he lived and make the comeback he wanted, could've had a feud with Sandman? Life isn't fair.

He was already having a lot of shitty PPV matches in 1994. A older, broken Rude would probably have been sad.

If Rude doesn't get hurt and Hogan comes in, what happens if Rude leaps back to the WWF in 1995? Shawn has his gimmick.
I see Vince booking a 6 month feud with Henry Godwin to humble Rude, another rage quitting and then Rude spends 1997 in ECW before joining the WCW gravy train when they hired 200 guys to bloat the roster by 1998.

Busted and broken Rude could work a Sandman match. That's all I'm in for. Hardcore Rude is the kind of unintuitive transition people get behind.

When in 1995? Rude would either get a steady push out of necessity, which was probably a couple months with Bret or Bigeow in the midcard as Corporate Rude. Maybe get the months long burial feud with Taker. Any and all amends would've gotten made when he's the one who puts Warrior over at Wrestlemania.

I didn't know Jamal lasted until the six-sided ring.

–Ah, Joanie Laurer? She wrestled in NJPW through 2002.

Tanahashi: I got to wrestle her as well. She called me ‘pretty boy’… I saw her at the convention and asked ‘do you remember me?’ She responded right away- ‘oh, hey, pretty boy!’ (laughs).

They also talk about a Tanahashi-Charlie Haas match that headlined NJPW's 2011 tour of the US.

–You never really got that lengthy excursion. How do you think it would have gone if you had?

Tanahashi: I was a big fan of Ultimate Warrior back in the day. I think you’d have seen me work on my muscles and wrestle a really American style. Less about making my opponent shine and more about making my pecs shine!

I'm glad we've gotten the career we've gotten from Tanahashi over the past two decades---but I can't help but feel we were robbed of a power & paint Tana.
