Joe Jackson can't wait to have a role in raising his grandchildren and turning them into stars (because that turned out so well with his own kids)

In a partial interview released on ABC on Friday, taken from a longer interview to be aired July 14, Joe says that both he and estranged wife Katherine should take on permanent guardianship duties now that Michael has died. "Their grandmother Katherine and I should raise them," Joe said. "Yes there's no one else who can do what we can do for them. We should keep them all together and make them happy. Feed them like they are supposed to be fed."

In the ABC extract, Joe was asked if he felt the Jackson children could go into show business. "I don't know," Joe responded. "I keep watching Paris. She wants to do something." He added that Blanket can "really dance."

Eh, I wasn't fan of Jackson or what he did in his personal life, but they should at least respect his wishes and keep this sociopath away from his children.

I'm listening to the album now and you're right. I always liked the video for Leave Me Alone too. It is strange, but the message is easy to get.

You mean it's not an elaborate existentialist treatise, on par with the works of Kierkegaard, Sartre, and Camus?

Today's NY Post reports that Michael was gay and that he told one particular (ADULT) male lover, "The King of Pop is going to lick your lollipop." Just thought I'd let you all know.

Doesn't surprise me if it's true (which is a big if considering the source)---I always thought that if he wasn't asexual then he was a repressed homosexual. Just look at the people he hung out with---Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minelli, Diana Ross. Gay!!!!

I always knew that Lil Wayne was gay...........

But yeah, the only woman to have come out and said that she had sex with Michael Jackson was Lisa Marie Presley.

Hey, according to her, he was very good.

I remember Terry George (who claimed Jacko behaved inappropriately with him, back in the eighties, when he was one of Jackson's "young friends") said in his opinion, while Jackson did sexually harass him, he wasn't a pedophile, and possibly not even gay, he was just incredibly confused. They did find (adult) porn at Neverland, as well, which showed he liked lesbians and older women. I don't have a clue if he was bisexual, or whatever, but it's definetly wrong when a lot of his fans claim he was some asexual manchild, to defend him from the sexual abuse allegations.

You know, just when I thought the coverage of this couldn't get any more extreme, it did. CNN spent two hours covering how CNN covered the death of Michael. That's right, CNN gave an in depth look back and discussion on how CNN handled things.

And has any official ruling been made if this was an overdose or murder or what it was? Did Michael kill himself, did he get killed or just accidents happen? I've been looking for actual news but I'm getting more fluff than detail lately.

I love the Faces of Death-esque music used for that video.

That accident was apparently was the catalyst for his drug abuse. Not the fact that he was a worldwide megastar who was on the road for years doing concerts and needed something to keep himself going. No, his poor burned scalp hurt too much.

PK, did you ever think that maybe, just maybe 3rd degree burns might fucking hurt? I know it sounds weird, but someone with layers of skin and hair burned off almost down to the muscle and bone would have massive pain and might need painkillers for. And some painkillers are addictive. Makes perfect since if he picked up a habit from a nasty accident like this.

Have to agree with this, if only from my brief experience of burning my fingers on a hot pan, which is fuck all considering what happened to MJ. But that pain burned away for nearly a day and it was just surface burns. God knows what having burns down to the bone would feel like and how long that would last.

Also...
Can't believe how long MJ continued to perform despite his head being on fire, must have had a lot of hairspray to burn through before it reached his head.

2 weeks on and ITV are showing the Martin Bashir interview with Michael Jackson, the one that led to his downfall the second time.

Impressive spin he did there.

And he still showed up to the Grammys later in the week - which he dominated.

Shame South Park never poked fun at Bashir.

I quite enjoyed that rush of Michael Jackson-related TV coverage in February of 2003. Really provided tons of LOLs. Shame the war in Iraq had to come and ruin all our fun for us.

I'd say it was an early catalyst for sure. He was still peaking in a way though since the Grammy wins were to come and people forget how huge Bad was. Yah it wasn't Thriller but no album in history is/was.

But this got the ball rolling and then the surgeries are what really sparked the fire as they say.

Do you think he'd have surgery if his face hadn't caught on fire?

As for 'Bad' that was the first album I had on vinyl, that and the Ghostbusters LP, man was that played to death!

If his face hadn't caught fire (and assuming that disease or whatever it was didn't plague him), I'm almost sure he would have not had surgery and would have had a much less troubling career/personal life.

Ah right, I always got the impression he might have done it even if the fire hadn't happened, and that that was just the excuse used. He seemed obsessed with it by the end.

Yah, he got addicted to it. Happens to a lot of people. You get surgery enough, you become never happy with the result.

Jackson was going overboard with the surgery even before the pepsi fire. Everybody thinks that around the time thriller album came out he looked normal, but he was having surgery as early as the late seventies. Even in the music videos for the thriller songs, he looks noticably different from his earlier years. I think the real starting point of the surgery addiction was when he broke his nose during one of his dance rehearsals in 1978, and had to get surgery...and ended up liking the result. I doubt the fire helped, but he would have had those problems anyway.

I think it's easy to poke fun at Bashir, and judging by the amount of venom Jackson fans have spewed at him since his death, many clearly blame him for his downfall, but I never really judged Bashir that badly. Did he make Jackson look bad? Sure. But, come on, he had the biggest pop star in the world, who has been accused of child molestation, bragging about sharing his bed with children on camera. What was he supposed to do with that footage? Not put it in? That would have been disingenuous.

People were mad Bashir didn't make Jackson look "normal". Yeah, not even the best editing team in the world could have pulled that one off.

Does anyone remember when MJ did a TV Special on Fox showing bonus footage from the Bashir documentary where you heard Bashir praise MJ for being a good parent? I remember that was one of, if not the main thing that pissed Michael off about the documentary, the fact that Bashir never really mentioned how much Michael loved his kids and how he was a good parent to them. From watching the Bashir documentary, you would think that all MJ did was put goofy masks on his kids and then go away to his own little world.

I agree Bashir was incredibly two faced about the whole thing, but honestly, it wasn't that Bashir made Jackson look bad, it was that Jackson made himself look bad: with his lies (only two cosmetic operations in his entire life?) inconsistencies (swearing blind he had a relationship with whoever the third kid's mother was, and then in the same interview saying it was a surrogate he never met) and downright weirdness (the bed sharing, holding hands with one young boy during an interview) Bashir didn't make him say any of that. And, yes, he could have included some more positive footage but I doubt it would have made much of a difference considering all the other revelatations that came out.

I think, at the most, you can say Bashir gave Jackson enough rope to hang himself with.

Can you really call it a second downfall, though? MJ's public image took a big hit in 1993 with the first child molestation allegations, and it never truly recovered. Even in just the two years prior to the documentary (2001-2003), Michael did a bunch of stuff that gave the public more evidence that he was strange: calling Sony racist because Invincible "only" sold 2 million copies...those pictures where the skin on his nose was bent in the middle...appearing at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards and giving an acceptance speech for an award that didn't actually exist...and of course, there was the whole dangling "Blanket" over the balcony incident. For alot of people, the Bashir documentary confirmed that all of the things said about Michael Jackson were true.

The sad thing is, the most positive thing that MJ did during this timeframe, his 9/11 memorial song with a whole bunch of celebrities, got ZERO mainstream coverage. Absolutely ZERO press.

Nah, he was having surgeries before that. If he didn't look so much like the father he hated and looked more like his mom instead, he might of never had the surgeries.
