Finished my first season 5-11. I was actually 5-3 but in my 9th game, I lost 9 of my starters. One I at least got back for the last 4 weeks of the season, but the other 8 were done for the season. Having games of only being able to score 3 and get blown out by 30 was not fun.

Oh well, at least my team for this coming season is all prepared. Did well with the draft, so hopefully I'll have a winning season.

God, the 2012 Buffalo Bills are having a HORRIBLE year with injuries.

Shawne Merriman fractured his elbow in preseason, done for the year. Roscoe Parrish and Brad Smith both missed time at the beginning of the year due to injuries, and Stevie Johnson missed weeks 2-7 with a broken collarbone. #1 HB CJ Spiller(traded Fred in the offseason) has played in maybe 1 1/2 games in 9 weeks. He also broke his collarbone in week 2, game back for the week 9 game against the Browns, and suffered an abdominal tear early in the 2nd quarter. Jairus Byrd has a meniscus tear, Brad Smith is out AGAIN with a partial MCL tear, David Nelson is out with a broken collarbone, Dwan Edwards broke his forearm, and Kelvin Sheppard (who Gus Johnson keeps confusing for Kendall Hunter) also has a broken collarbone.


Despite all this, the Bills are still 6-2.

Aaand in week 11 CJ Spiller just broke his collarbone AGAIN, done for the season. I wish I knew the injury prone player role was THIS fucking brutal before I traded Spiller away. I might just act like the real life Bills and draft another fucking RB in the first round, so I can be done with this shit.

Speed still kills. I mainly use the 'Skins online, and although Hightower is the overall better RB, the rookie Roy Helu is ridiculously fast and anytime I run a draw play with him there is like a 50/50 chance if he breaks initial contact he is taking it to the house.

I am starting to adjust to the style of '12, but it still has a weird feeling to me, it still kind of feels like ice skating on a football field a little bit.

Just had a dandy of a playoff game against the Chargers in Madden '11. My defense couldn't cover for shit as guys like Gates were blowing right past my corners so Rivers had a 400 yard game, but Brady one-upped him by going for 501 and 3 TDs en route to a 34-31 victory. My D came up with the game-ending pick at the right time. Now I get to play the Colts in the AFCC for the second straight year and Manning abused my secondary in that game and blew my doors off.

That sounds like a typical All-Madden game. Like 400+ yards passing from both sides and a crazy ass finish.

Though, I didn't appreciate the power bump we had last night and the loss of all my PS3 data, except my Disgaea 4 data. I was already on season 3 in Franchise. T_T

New Tuner update came out for NCAA 12... maybe I didn't notice these but it looks like they've actually added some new formations to the Custom PB.

Shotgun: 5-Wide Standard 5 WR formation with inside WRs off the LOS (7 Plays). Looks like there's slightly more spacing between inside WRs.
Shotgun: ASU Split: 2 Backs Tight Flex WR (18 Plays)
Shotgun: BYU Split: 2 Backs Offset with 2 WR Weakside (38 Plays)
Shotgun: Bunch Quads: 5 WR look with TE/2 WR Bunch on Strongside (11 Plays)
Shotgun: Cluster/Shotgun: Cluser HB Strong: Spread look with TE off LOS (15 Plays)
Shotgun: Heavy: 2 FB Diamond look with single WR (26 Plays)
Shotgun: Monster: Offset HB with LT/WRs and RT/WRs in Bunch look (4 Plays) Maybe the "A-11"?

There are now 7 Shotgun Split formations. Also a "HB Swing" pass seems to have been included now.

It seems to take about a month or so into the new NFL season before the roster updates finally start to pay off and reflect how the teams are actually performing in the current season.

Considering the current Madden is based off last year's team performances, sometimes you run into situations where the cornerbacks of a certain team will still have lockdown coverage on your WRs despite that team not actually having the same cornerbacks on the team anymore.

I've been playing with the release-day patch with 0 problems (well, the game did freeze on me once after a game, but mashing X to get through to the snapshots-of-the-game, preventing it from trapping me in the stadium panorama fixed it) (oh and without the tuners it's a little wonky, LBs still warp to the ball a bit, corners sometimes get locked in zones and let me run right past them on pitches/options and super coach progression makes moving from job to job a bit more difficult), but I am an aberration.

HQ told me that they updated NCAA so I went back and took a look. I love Shotgun Wing Offset and 1-5-5 so much that I'm going to run those in my NCAA Dynasty.

Wish I could use these playbooks in Madden.

Yeah... they added several formations to Ace (including a "Normal HB Strong" which is basically Ace Flex with the HB offset Strongside) as well as some new plays (including some for the Wishbone formations).

Being a playbook junkie, I'm all over that.

EDIT: Just discovered that they seemingly have thrown in some Madden plays. I Form - Twin TE now features the Raider Blast from the Oakland Raiders (where the TE motions across to the left).

I really am not fond of EA's servers at present. Between that and the game locking up on loading screens I've damn near put my controller through a window more than once over the past 36 hours. One would think that having a server issue every. single. fucking. day. at 4 EST and 10 EST they would figure out they need some extra space and, you know, actually get it. But alas...

They should patch Madden so that if you are playing as the Cowboys, the center snaps the ball randomly, whether you call for it or not.

If you are talking about the NFL, that change in the OT rule is only for the playoffs. It's first score wins no matter what in the regular season.

It's in the regular season too, in the game, I think. I skipped over it (the run down) in Madden 11, but the time I played, I forced a fumble then scored a TD, so I'm not sure.

No, this year its not just a playoff rule. Its a regular season rule now. If you score a TD, you win. If you score a FG, the other team still gets a change to tie or win with a TD. If both teams score a field goal, its sudden death after that.

Or at least its supposed to be. Nice fail EA.

Better fail, Flik. NFL didn't institute the OT rules for the regular season. It's still postseason only for now (until/unless it gets voted upon for the regular season too).

So I have yet to purchase NCAA 12. But I'm playing NCAA 11 again. I've never played it with a. Wireless adapter connected until now. Now its talking about connecting to EA servers and keeping score on my sportsmanship and strategy. The hell is this shit? I don't want it doing that. Is there any way to turn it off without unhooking the adapter? I was going to get an XBox with built in wireless, so there's gotta be another way to turn this shit off right?

Formation Subs should give you kickoff coverage, but beyond the starters it's a crapshoot who it'll put in, as I recall.

So I have NCAA 11 and Madden 10. Should I upgrade either of them with this year's cycle of games or stand pat?
