Some things that might help people playing Madden:

1) Getting to the high end or low end of DPP can nearly break the game - When you get a player on a hot streak, ride him as he'll play so damn well its ridiculous. If you get a player on a cold streak, he'll play so pitifully, you almost need to shuffle him out. Now I'm talking about the actual hot and cold streak, not like cold "drop passes" - no.

2) A player with a high motor will play with a second gear, so take that player's stats and double them.

I'm waiting for the 53 man rosters to be finalized and updated in the game before starting up a franchise. Anyone have any idea when that's happening?

Just read it's expected to be Thursday morning.

Scouting is still flawed for franchise. I decided to skip over to see how it works for the draft, but unless I'm missing something, its still "hey, take a guess at which player you didn't scout has what for ratings". They've really gotta do something about that, because it still doesn't feel right. Though it was cool seeing actual pictures of people when I'm drafting. Wonder how much each person is getting paid for their likeness.

I'm thinking of calling High Motor - Jerry Rice Syndrome. Just because any player with it, seems a lot like that.

Version 1.02 is out for NCAA '12 (at least on PS3). 33 MB in size.

The Raiders cut Terelle Pryor, my Redskins picked him up to battle Beck and Troy Smith for Sexy Rexy's back-up. Pryor won it. Fast forward to week 5, Rex goes down with a major injury, Pryor comes in and leads the team to victory. Eventually he plays well enough to cement the starting role even when Rex comes back, and the Redskins finish the season at a respectable 8-8. Now Pryor is stone walling me on a contract extension, since I picked him up for league minimum.

This game is fun.

Patch 1.02 broke the no-huddle too: you can now only pick plays out of the top set of each formation (so if you have I form normal, stack & 3wr in your playbook, and you go no huddle, no matter what I form you try to use it'll only show you the plays from I form normal because it's at the top of the list)

So they took an entire month and once again it is obvious they really didn't fully test it like they claimed they would?
SHOCKING!

I already had traded in NCAA 12 even before this latest patch, glad to see the patch made my decision still be the right one. I'm probably gonna trade in Madden as well, both EA football games this year just aren't very good.

So...if you play as Buffalo be prepared for a BUSY fucking offseason after the first year. Just about everybody's contract ran out, I had over 80m in cap space when I started the offseason.

I've been bouncing around but here's my main setup.

Game Speed: Fast (the "animation" may not be ideal but it adequately reflects how fast the NFL game is in terms of decision making)
Speed Thresh: 0
Quarter Length: 11-12 Minutes. I've found I get a solid number of plays even with the accelerated clock at only 20. Most teams snap the ball around 8-11 seconds anyway.

Note that I keep the sliders the same for USER and CPU so that affects things as well.

QB Acc: 60-70 (I've found this accurately allows them to make snappier decisions. Any lower and I've seen CPUs literally stand in the pocket for 7-8 seconds only to get sacked)
RB Broken Tackle: 60-70 (Reflects RBs going up against DB properly but downside is WRs are treated the same so...)
WR Catch: 40-50 (Get about 2-4 drops a game but nothing overly insane)
Run Block/Pass Block: 45-55 (Doesn't seem to make much difference in terms of pocket time against a rush)
Pass D Awareness: 20-30 (Still fairly tough to pass if you aren't smart in taking what's given but it tones down LB reactions a lot)
Run D Awareness: 50-60 (Toughens the run game a little but still allows for a solid experience)
Block Shed: 45-50 (See PR)
Pass Rush: 40-45 (Still gives you pretty much a 2-4 second window if you can move around in the pocket)
INT: 30-40 (Makes QB decisions risky still without resulting in a ton of 5+ INT type games. Also avoids the dropping of obvious INTs issue mostly)
Tackling: 50-60 (Pretty much balances out nicely with BT. Players can get taken down on first contact often but not always)

Kick Power: 50-55 ("Old" NFL rules style results in more kick returns and kicks to the -2 to 1 yard line)
Kick Accuracy: 70-80 (Really, unless they are attempting from 52+ yards out, most kickers should rarely miss given how accurate RL is)

Awesome. What did you end up doing?

Signed him to a 3 year deal worth 3.5 mil a year, but with no bonus money, so I can cut him at anytime. Then I went a drafted a QB in the 3rd that ended up being 70 ovr, and picked up Pat Devlin as a developmental QB.

I didn't even get to the part where the Jets cut Muhhamed Wilkerson, who is know an anchor on my killer 4-3 defense.

I haven't jumped into franchise mode yet, but I get the feeling that the Jets cutting a first rounder isn't going to bode well for the AI/logic in cutting. Do all teams make these types of dumb choices?

EA has always been about who has the better OVR? and makes decisions off that. That's hugely why NCAA/Madden Depth Charts can be so retardedly fucked up. That also will explain their cuts and draft picks (I read a post on another board where they basically take a finger and go position by position on their team and compare the OVR to the draft pick OVR. Team better? Move onto next rookie option thus selections of P's and K's in the 1st Round in NCAA Imports).

The AI is still fucked up on player decisions, no matter what the madden devs say. Cam Newton won offensive ROY in my franchise, but then with the #1 overall pick of the 2012 draft the Panthers selected another QB

Two more Madden gliches I've found, both in Ultimate Team:

1) If you play against someone whos using the same uniforms that your team is, you somehow wind up with their playbook

2) In my last gold pack I opened, I got Carolina Steve Smith, but then when I go into a game, it turns out it's actually Philly Steve Smith. If you flip the card over, it's PSS on the back, but still a picture of CSS on the front.

What are some of the biggest differences in gameplay from Madden 11 to 12?

By the end of my Madden '11 run I became pretty decent online, winning about as much as I lost (yeah I know, go ahead and laugh but for the amount of time I put into it, it's good, ok?) However my online record sucked because I put myself in such a wretched hole the first month or so of having the game.

I'd prefer not to spend 20 games online learning the ins & outs all over again, but at the same time I am the type that likes to jump online right away as I normally can't stand AI in sports games.

I think I'll try running all 30 teams just so that depth charts, drafting, and things go freaking okay. I'm so tired of the AI fucking up. Its not that hard to program things so that they do it correctly.

I haven't played Madden online since i think, the 08 game. Just got sick and tired of idiots playing stupid football(no punts, always going for it on 4th, etc) and then quitting when I take over the game and kill the clock.

This. Not to mention the short list of teams your opponents choose is usually something like this: Eagles.

But Kinsey, not sure if you're aware of this, but this year's Madden has an online feature called Communities, which is supposed to prevent most of the stuff you mentioned as it kind of lets you choose the type of player you play against. I haven't tried it, yet.

Tweaking some sliders from the above setup that I posted... Goal = QBs above 60% Completion and RBs average 4-7 YPC (7.0 for monster 200+ yard type "career" games)

WR Catch: 55
Run Blocking: 55
Pass D Reaction Time: 20
INTs: 15
Rush Defense: 50
Block Shedding: 35

So I tried started up a new franchise built on the updated rosters (but Manning still isn't injured :( ). Playing as the Bills and rebuilt quite a bit of my team and also using Harley's sliders.

First game went alright. I lost to the Chiefs, but I only lost because WR Shane Vereen fumbled the damn ball after being hit by a truck. After that, the team just went downhill. Though they only gave up in the fourth so Ican be happy about that. I didn't throw an INT or a TD, so it was an alright day QB wise, I guess.

My second game was superb. My created QB self had a field day with the Raiders. Broke off a 70 yard QB scramble for a TD and earning the Tim Tebow award. I ran for 109 yards, and threw for modest 198 yards, but was 18 for 19. I nearly had a perfect game as a QB.

Then, I played the Patriots. Take the game above and then picture everything that can go wrong. I got thoroughly stomped.

Think you nailed the settings pretty much HQ. I also found out that having all possession receivers without a speedster really hurts. T_T And Stevie Johnson is not as great as he seems.
