it doesn't sound good but i'd like to hear more from a site that doesn't reccomend me articles from Jordan peterson at the end too. It also sounds like it's mostly a restoration of something that tried and failed in the past.

ill read the article later but every Canadian at this point has thought about it probably. For all of Ameeica's many flaws and the way it mistreats its partners at times, we need a strong democratic America as an ally.

We've talked a lot about the various possibilities in chat before. I don't think it's super likely to happen at least in the near future, but it's also not impossible. If it were to happen I don't think it'd be a full fledged 1861 war but more just a series of succession's.

Trudeau has a huge ego so I don’t know if this is true, but a theory I’ve seen float out there is that the Liberals know they have no shot at the election. So rather than have a new person take a historic loss and have it be associated with the party, Trudeau will take the fall so that whoever takes over can paint it as a referendum on Trudeau rather than the party. That way, moving forward, they can rebrand and not have the stink of the current government associated with them.

Which would actually be a noble thing for the party and make sense politically. But again, Trudeau is so egotistical I don’t know if I buy it. This guy might genuinely think he can still win.

People are sick of the Libs and want them gone. I do believe that people in Canada are much less attached to parties/ideology than in the US so what voter intention is in this election doesn't necessarily have to reflect what it will be in 5-10 years, just like it doesn't 5-10 years ago. There's a lot more movement between parties.

I personally don't think it is a long term change or rather I'd say, it doesn't have to be a long-term change if competent leadership comes to power in any of the other parties after this election and learns the necessary lessons from their defeat. Will that happen? It always has in the past so lets hope.

37% of women will vote conservative, while just 23% of them will vote liberal. 22% will vote NDP. They are normally way more lopsided for progressive parties. The gumbo has been calling for a bloodbath for like two years now, prolonging the election is not gonna change things barring some miraculous fix for housing, wages and healthcare.

Hopefully this works, this is the only way to have an election that won’t end in a bloodbath.

This is actually a big deal, he is the first person that I know of to claim this under oath with multiple sources backing him.

eh more people are off, and really almost a third of people voted early this year so it didn't matter. The bigger issue was the rain.

There's still 11 ridings at the moment that are too close to call BUT if things hold then it looks like we'll have a repeat of 2017 with the NDP and Greens forming a government together.

going to come down to absentee ballots. Few as 12 votes for the NDP to overtake one of the ridings the Cons are leading in. I think NDP will at least get the Minority but it will be a nailbiter.

One of the ridings its close in, the Con candidate was recorded on election night refering to natives as "Savages" among other things.

Obviously the US does its predictions/election polls differently but does Canada do similar polling ahead of this and how close/off was it by comparison?

Well shit. I thought there was a possibility this might happen when Freeland axed the $250 dollar giveaway from the budget.

The Libs are in such a bad spot right now that I don't know there's anything that can save them. A complete destruction and rebuild like at the start of the 2000's is their only hope.

edit: Oh dope Doug Ford is on CTV News barking like a seal.

Jagmeet Singh and the NDP are really not doing themselves any favours by continuing to prop Trudeau up. I know Singh keeps trying to play it off like he is trying to use their alliance to force Trudeau to advance left wing policies, but in the end, I don’t think his own supporters even believe that anymore, and Singh ends up looking like Trudeau’s puppet. Singh really needs to learn how to read the room and see which way the wind is blowing. One way or another, it looks like Justin is cooked.

Just came here to post about this. I’m glad it’s finally happening. If he were to stay on through the election it would give the Conservatives so much power moving forward. They’ll still win a majority but the sooner we move on from Trudeau, the quicker the timeline of that majority government will be run through. This country always works better when there’s a balance of power and real opportunity for opposing parties to gain some but not all the power.
