So after three years of loyal service, my 360 finally died, yet another victim of the RRoD. Now I have no idea what to do. I guess I'm supposed to send it in, but I sorta got my 360 second hand (bought it from a guy I knew), so I'm not sure if they'll replace/repair it and whatnot. So yeah, any advice as to what I'm supposed to do?

Just call 'em up and bitch. Tell 'em how its not your fault their faulty hardware continues to fail on you and that you don't know why you have to pay for their faults in trying to jump the gun and beat Sony.

At this point, they'll more than likely just cave and fix it for free.

Proudest moment in my mundane life happened this weekend. I won $80 in a 8-person NBA Jam for Genesis Tournament. Half the guys played in regularly (not me) while everyone else hadn't played it in 10+ years. It was Best of 3 and I went 6-0 beating the game-owner in the finals. He should have accepted my 50/50 offer before the match.

This must be what Ric Flair felt like when he won the 1992 Royal Rumble.

Haha yeah, winning video game tournaments when you have no clue what you're doing is awesome. I've won tournaments for both Pride FC(although to be fair, this was right when the game came out, so nobody knew too much about what they were doing) and NCAA Football uhm...08? 09? when I hadn't played an NCAA football game in like 5 years.

The Pride one was pure domination, never losing a single round in a best of 3 tournament. The NCAA one was blind fucking luck, somehow managing to pull a win out of my ass that I didn't deserve in every round.

The NCAA football 11 demo is amazing, fixing most of the gameplay flaws from last year. The upgraded Dynasty features have me drooling too. Can't wait until it comes out in a few weeks.

Oh man. I loved Fear Effect. Never played the sequel but that first game was crazy. It consisted of 4 discs but really wasn't that long if I recall correctly. All the gaming nerds went crazy for the shower scene in the beginning of disc 2.

Which gameplay flaws did they fix? I just sold NCAA 10 after not having played it for a few weeks (granted I only got it a few months ago) but I've been trying to keep up with the developer blogs. Seems like they really learned a lot from their community day a while back.

Well, it mostly has the Madden engine. Pro-Tak is in there. I haven't exhaustively tested the demo to make sure that all the bugs are out, but they put college specific offenses in and the graphics have been significantly enhanced.

You can't really test the whole thing in the demo as you're not allowed to set conservative/normal/aggressive but it's pretty much everything I wanted.

They are listening to feedback, which I appreciate. Madden did NOT, as apparently online franchise mode this year is still missing Pro Bowl, awards, free agency, proper draft. My friends and I are seriously considering sitting Madden out this year.

So since all the game rental stores (Hollywood, Blockbuster) near me have closed I'm thinking about signing up for Gamefly but Gamefly is 15.95 a month, which to me is a little steep. What do you guys think of Gamefly?

It has it's good points and bad.

GOOD:

- Discs are usually in very good condition. I've only had to send back two discs in the year I've been a member.
- "Keep" option let's you keep the disc you have at a reduced price (I got Just Cause 2 for $40 the week it came out)
- LOTS of good perks: free shipping on everything, really cheap used games, discounts based on length of membership.
- Cheaper overall than renting from Blockbuster.

BAD

- Good luck getting a new title in the first few months of release unless you have it as the only thing in your queue.
- Turnaround can be long, depending on availability of the games in your queue and where the distribution center is.

They give you the first month for $9.99 I believe so I'd try it out. Just don't expect something like RDR to show up right away. I use mine to get older titles I may have missed.

For that kind of thing I'd rather just buy it on Glyde & then re-sell it when I'm done. I end up with a "rental" of a couple months for only a couple dollars.

Glyde? What is that?

Here's basically the reason whY I'm cautious to get Gamefly right now. I'm not working at the moment and I'd kinda wanna save the 15.95 for gas or something else. The 2nd thing is I also have Netflix for 8.99 a month so if I did both Gamefly and Netflix I'd be paying $25.00 a month for both. Which is something I don't wanna pay for unless I'm working.

I'm thinking about maybe canceling my Netflix in favor of Gamefly. There's a redbox that's a 5 minute walk away from me, though I think it maybe the only place in town where anyone can rent anything (unless they have Netflix) and I like to watch a lot of TV series on DVD but I really don't think Red Box offers TV series on dvd. So I don't know.

I'm soooo conflicted!

I'm doing flood damage assessment for insurance purposes right now and looking up the prices that Amazon lists for a 'new' copy of some PS1 games.

SmackDown 2 - $4.80 (just used, so ok)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - $95 (!)
FF VIII - 187.94 - wow

If you are choosing between Netflix and Gamefly, stick with Netflix since you get much more value with Netflix (due to the Instant library) than Gamefly.

That has to be the original release, because the greatest hits edition can be had factory sealed for much less.

These are just what sellers on Amazon.com were listing for a new, sealed copy. I chose the lowest number as some fellas had "$2000" listed. I went to Amazon.ca as well and the lowest for a sealed copy was $499. Lowest for used was $60 some.

Sealed / new copies of SmackDown SYM and HCTP have surprisingly high price tags on Amazon too ($60 each).

I hate selling games on Amazon. If you list yours at the lowest price someone always undercuts you. Not to mention Amazon takes a HUGE take of the sale.

glyde glyde glyde.

Best video game related site I've ever found. I love it. 10+ happy transactions, both buying and selling.

Not to drive the point home about glyde but I bought Darksiders about two months ago on glide for $28.75. Finished it tonight, and it's first to sell at $22.25. Two month "rental" for $6.50.

And no worry about the red ring of death!

(not because the problem is for sure fixed, but because it apparently doesn't have the red lights)

I think I'm going to end up buying one next week. I have to get a 250 hard drive anyway which is 120 bucks. I have like 190 dollars in best buy rewards that start going away in mid July...and I can either get the HD for free or get the new 360 for roughly the same as buying the new HD outright. There's nothing else I really want to buy and fucking Microsoft has to put out an awesome new version of the system and make my decisions complicated.
