Goddamn, both these games are fucking great. They made a few changes to the YDKJ formula and none are bad or take anything away from the game. Plus, the first DLC is already out and has 10 more episodes for $5. That's fucking insane. I hope this game sells like mad because these guys deserve it. We should get a TSM Trivia Night organized some time.

I'm in, but problem is if we all play an episode we've seen before... uhhh... how does that work?

I just bought it on the PS3, so..I doubt i'd be able to partake in the trivia nights.

Also, apparently the PC version is FUCKED. Only 2 player local multiplayer support, and no online. Why the hell would they do something like that?

I thought the PC version had 3 player support?

according to everything I've read, the PC version just has 2 players.

Technology has left the B key in the dust, I guess

I bought a Saturn on eBay for a good price because the seller said that it didn't work most of the time, but it seems to work fine. It was an even better deal since it came with the 3D analog controller and a copy of Nights Into Dreams and that was one of the games I wanted to try out for the system.

I don't know what other (affordable) games are worth trying out. I think I'll get an Action Replay so I can play import games, but even then, I don't know how many of those I'm that interested in.

When I rented a Saturn a long time ago, I rented Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona USA and I think I liked both of them.
The Saturn seemed to have a lot of good games like Bug and I think Clockwork Knight. Also, the Capcom fighting games were better on it.

I remember having a hell of a good time with Clockwork Knight and Bug back in the mid-90s. The Saturn was a decent enough system, but it was DOA like most of Sega's other hardware. It also got an arcade perfect X-Men vs Street Fighter thanks to the RAM expansion port.

Bug doesn't really hold up nowadays. The controls are pretty poor.

Try and get hold of Panzer Dragoon 1 & 2. Those are both awesome games. It's also worth tracking down a copy of Duke Nukem 3D and Quake. Have a Quake save file on your machine (or go through Duke Nukem and shoot all of the toilets) and unlock DEATH TANK ZWEI - which features the greatest theme song ever made:

You Don't Know Jack online is so damn worthless, same questions. lolz.

From my experience, if you host a game and have it auto select the episode, it seems to always pick one you haven't unlocked yet.

But they might have played it, and thus you're gonna get duckrolled.

If by awesome you mean "manipulative and desperately trying to tug at your emotions and probably absolutely nothing like the gameplay" then I totally agree.

Do you know how many games come out with trailers that aren't even rendered the same as the gameplay engine? A lot. Fallout has done it. DCUO has done it. So many have done it. This is not a new practice.

I also don't see the tugging at my emotions part, either. I usually don't have feelings for computer animations. You sound like you're just pissed off because someone tried something different and you can't seem to understand why. God forbid someone try to market a zombie FPS in a creative way.

I have no problem with someone making a dumb fun zombie game. But if you're gonna do that, don't put out a trailer that makes you appear as if you're more than that. And if you actually ARE more than that? Prove it to me with some fucking gameplay.

I pretty much hate all trailers without gameplay in it, but certain series/genres have earned the benefit of the doubt. Zombie games..not so much. There's never been a zombie game with any kind of emotional depth, so yeah, I'm gonna be skeptical of the trailer without any kind of gameplay in it. If this just turns into another mindless zombie killing game then the trailer is worthless.

..and with that folks, we realize that the concept of marketing - and in particular the terms "announcement trailer" and even "teaser" are all lost on someone like Fazzle. Thanks for coming out, though!

A "teaser" isn't really a 3 minute video though. A teaser is a quick 30 second OH SHIT THIS GAME GETTIN MADE and that's it. I'm just sick of season multiple forums jizzing over this video that shows absolutely fucking nothing.

I'd think it was pretty cool if it was a trailer for a new TV show or movie, but..as a video game? Trailers without gameplay are shit.

Games still are about gameplay. Trailers aren't, usually. Usually the gameplay stuff is reserved for longer "preview" videos that they put out later in the development cycle. Trailers, especially launch/debut trailers, are mainly a marketing tool to promote the game. Does this kind of thing that's not new at all really need to be explained to people here or am I missing the joke?

I'm not saying it's a bad trailer, it's epic and well put together. It blew me away to be quite honest.

The point I'm making is that game companies put far to much emphasis on cinematics rather than core gameplay. At least that's what I think. The point of a trailer is to show the audience what they are going to get - and this trailer doesn't do that. I have no idea of what the game is about/what I'm going to do/how I'm going to do it.

As for the examples Dub threw up - at least those "trailers" introduced you to characters and gave you an element of what the game will entail. The Dead Island trailer does nothing other than be cinematic.

It's being talked about all over the internet...so obviously the trailer served its purpose quite well.

No...A announcement trailer like that is supposed to get you talking about the game out of the sea of other games coming out. While putting out a bunch of footage of people playing the game might sell a few, cinematics is what hooks the attention of the vast majority of people.

As they release screen shots and developers diaries and game play details, people will try to find out more.

And the game is about zombies on a island. H...how did you miss that man?
