BrentalFloss puts on a fun show. I still don't quite understand what the fuck he was doing in Alaska, but fun was had by all*

*all does not include the complete asshat that was sitting behind me. But all minus one is still a pretty good ratio.

Alaska Show Highlights

Where exactly was this held?

Brentalfloss - Crazy Duck in Space Live in Anchorage

It was held in the commons building for the dorm and other student housing at UAA (University of Alaska Anchorage). Basically it's got the cafeteria and some meeting rooms and such as far as I could tell. Specifically this was just outside the cafeteria in the eating area for said cafeteria. But the cafeteria had closed for the night so there weren't random people just there to eat.

When he started I counted just about 40 people, and by the time he was done there were around 50 people, which is roughly 45 more than I expected for a Brentalfloss show in Alaska.

At the end of the video I heard people murmuring about "not bad for a free show" I think. Was it basically just "show up at the U and watch a show"?

Probably. I knew about the show from following him on Twitter, but since most of the people there were obviously students I'm sure there was some kind of advertising on campus. Although I don't know how much advance notice even the students had, because floss himself didn't seem to know the exact details until the week of the show as the date kept flipping between the 8th and the 9th, and he said he assumed it would be free or very cheap but didn't know.

He said he was going to have some merchandise with him to sell so I made sure to bring some cash to support the guy, but he ended up not having any and after the show just signed pieces of paper (or whatever you wanted if you brought something). He was super nice and took a couple minutes to talk to everybody that he signed for. Listening to the people talking to him though, it was clear a lot of them knew who he was and were fans, because I had to listen to half a dozen stories of people seeing him or not seeing him at (insert con here).

New Mortal Kombat came out today. I was going to hold off for when the price drops but I had the day off and decided to treat myself. I've also seen good things about it so far online. I got it at Bestbuy so I get classis sub-zero. Thought about getting the kollector's edition but an extra $40 bucks for an art book and some book ends + an Ermac costume wasn't worth it. But what really made me laugh was that they had MK: Annihilation on blu-ray for $23! I'd buy it for $2.30, but that's about it. BUT WAIT it comes with a code for an alternate Jade costume in the new game. OMG MUST BUY.

It's gotten really good reviews from what I've seen. I'll probably pick it up at some point. I bought Portal today though. I wasn't even intending to buy anything...but the happy memories of the original Portal forced my hand.

I played a bit of the Gears 3 beta. It's good, but it's pretty apparent to me that I don't give a shit about online FPS's anymore. Especially competitive MP since I don't have the motivation to play so much as to not suck at it.

Random Thought: If this was 2004, Angry Birds would be a free game you played once on Newgrounds.

After playing a bit of THPS 4 on PS2, am I the only one that would be all over a downloadable re-release of the first three games? Wouldn't that save any credibility the Tony Hawk series has left?

If I could get them on the cheap, I think I'd like to try and own all of the Nintendo Power issues from the NES to N64 era. This thought just hit me today.

Yeah. The first game was great but 2 & 3 were my favorites. I don't remember if I played 4. Would they have to change the music if they re-released these on PSN/Xbox live? I don't know about you, but the music was a huge part of these games for me. But either way, I'm down.

I read Game Informer's story on Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I think I've found the game that will fill the void Mass Effect 3 made when it was delayed. This holiday is looking fucking STACKED:

- Assassin's Creed: Revelations
- Gears 3
- Batman: Arkham City
- Skyrim
- Modern Warfare 3
- Uncharted 3
- Saints Row The Third
- Madden, NCAA and NHL 2012

Fuck, I'm going to be poor after this.

I don't know what religion supplies a holiday than starts in mid-July and ends near Thanksgiving, but I want in.

To me the holiday games season starts around when Madden comes out in late August. That's usually the first of the big releases for the rest of the year.

Is there a way to default Steam to use offline mode? I'm REALLY FUCKING SICK of loading up a game that I intend to play OFFLINE and having to wait for an update to download with no way to say NO I DO NOT WANT THIS RIGHT NOW. Even better is when my internet connection is out and I have wait 3 minutes while Steam tries to connect before finally giving me the option to go off-line. And then getting all bitchy about it like 'fine you can go off-line but if you do YOU CAN'T EARN ACHIEVEMENTS SEE DON'T YOU WANT TO GET ON-LINE ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING IT!'

I want kind of badly to respond to "Is there a way to default Steam to use offline mode?" with "Get Sony to buy it" but I don't want to be yelled at again.

I'm all aboard the bash Sony bandwagon, so I'll laugh at that, congratulate you on it, then run before dubq shows up.
